Perfect fit for 98 XJ
Installed this on a 98 XJ. AW4 transmission. Fits perfect with longer wires and make sure the ground wire is attached to the mounting bolt as the OEM ones ground through the body. Plugs fit. While doing this, I also installed an ATP filter. I did not use a gasket. I used Right Stuff RTV as my pan was slightly bent from previous owner. Hardest part of install was removing the dip stick tube and reinstalling it. My service took 3.5 qts of ATF. I have an external cooler and radiator cooler bypass. The preinstalled brackets lined up perfectly. The TCC solenoid with seperate bracket also lined up properly. This fixed my code for TCC solenoid. Now driving down the road at 55, my rpm is not at 2500 anymore. (4.5" lift 32" tires) They are bigger than the OEM ones and look different, but fit perfectly. Great value considering a new transmission is about 3000.00.

Perfect for 2000 Jeep Cherokee XJ
Seems to be a quality, made in USA product. Replaced as part of general maintenance. They improved shifting in my 2000 Jeep XJs AW4. Install was pretty straight forward, A, A, B. They could improve the instructions by using a clearer picture and note the solenoids are also for Cherokee XJ since itโs a Toyota made transmission. They included two images, old style and newer style. I'm assuming the later style was used in Acura or Toyota, but that's not clear. other than that, very easy install.

Totally different/wrong solenoid for my 95 ls 400 transmission.
Totally wrong part. Does not fit or even come close to my original solenoids. Totally different part impossible to make it fit.

Torque converter lockup solenoid does not work on AW4 transmission when hot
Torque converter lockup solenoid does not work on AW4 transmission. Verified with two different solenoids on two different AW4s. After transmission fluid gets hot, torque converter solenoid stops working. They did fit. Other two solenoids work fine.

Works great
Sent directions for wrong truck, asked auto type when ordering. Still extremely easy to install and works great on jeep Cherokee

You can do this.
I have a 1998 Jeep Cherokee XJ with the AW4 4-speed automatic transmission. Recently the Check Engine light came on. The codes were P0700, P0753 and P0715 which are all related to the transmission. I bought this set of solenoids because of reviews on Amazon and the Jeep forums. (Very good DIY article with photos: (...) In the attached post-installation photo (front of vehicle is to the left) the YELLOW circles indicate the shift solenoids (orange leads) and the WHITE circle is the overdrive solenoid (blue lead) and the RED circles are the electrical connectors.Removal/Installation is easy: Unscrew the bolt holding a solenoid. Disconnect the plastic electrical connector. Pull steadily on the body of the solenoid to disengage it from the transmission. Installation is the reverse but make sure you attach each BLACK lead to it's solenoid's attachment bolt. This provides ground as well as keeping the wire out of the way. The black band on each solenoid is one of the enclosed plastic wire retainers. This isn't probably necessary but since I had them I used them. They just clip on but you have to be sure not to cover the vent holes in the solenoid. These are easy to see once you have them in hand.CAUTION: As I said, installation is easy but I would caution you to be very careful when disconnecting the wire connector from the old solenoid. These connectors have been bathed in hot oil for at least 15 years so they will probably be brittle. Trust me on this.If you have the tools and skills to change the transmission filter, you can change these solenoids. If you do attempt this job I would recommend purchasing/installing a new filter and pan cover gasket. They're not that expensive and you've already done the dirty work. Good Luck.

Great for an old Jeep
Easy install, only marginally harder than doing a filter and fluid change. The new solenoids with upgraded grounding wire was exactly what my old Jeep needed. The shifts are silky smooth now. I wish I had done this earlier. Before you let a mechanic convence you to replace the transmission, spend the $150 and an hour to try this. It's time and money well spent.

They Worked!
I installed these in an AW4 transmission for a 1998 Jeep Cherokee because it was throwing transmission codes. I couldn't get any transmission shop to do the repairs for at least 2 weeks. I finally gave up and did it myself. This job wasn't any tougher than changing the fluid and filter!I was impressed that the parts were made in the USA! Better still, they worked and cured my shifting problems.

After the install the engine code was easily erased and the transmission worked perfectly
Installed on a 3rd Gen Toyota 4Runner - engine MIL showed shift solenoid "A" needed replacing. This kit provided all 3 so with the trans fluid drained and the pan off, instructions told what solenoid goes where - easy in and out - most difficult job was the removal and reinstall of the transmission oil pan.Parts were way cheaper than Toyota OEM and have worked well for over a month now.If you have the tools and inclination, you can save $$$ with this kit.
