This adapter is necessary to ensure that the ResMed S9 continues to function properly while the user’s CPAP system is connected to the SoClean® CPAP Cleaner and Sanitizer. It’s designed for use with all SoClean models.

Just what I was looking for
I bought the soclean CPAP cleaner and it came with the wrong top. I looked on Amazon they had the one I needed got it in 2 days, had it hooked up and running in a couple of minutes. Just what I needed.

SoClean struck out, Gold Coast Medical hit a home run.
I was hesitant about purchasing this because of some of the bad customer reviews I read here on Amazon. However, I needed one. I tried ordering it directly from SoClean but their customer service is so bad they didn't even bother to return my call. That was a huge red flag for me.Some people had put reviews on here that the ResMed Adapters sold on Amazon were riddled with problems, like air seepage and improper fitting on the ResMed unit itself.i reluctantly bought one from Amazon through Gold Coast Medical, simply because I couldn't get it from SoClean.Setup was a breeze and the adapter snapped right into place. I've had no issues at all with air seepage. In fact, my CPAP seems even quieter than before, which is a little puzzling to me.I'm very glad I made this purchase.

Manufacturer fixed the problem
The adapter initially purchased through Amazon (July 2014) worked fine until it cam time to remove it. (Had to be removed to pack up the machine for travel.) impossible to get off. Tried to ease off using a screwdriver, but that cracked the plastic. I contacted the manufacturer directly (better rest solutions). The customer service rep apologized and sent me a new adapter free of charge. It is a new, improved version and appears to be one that will come off and on easily. Great customer service. I feel that the adapters that are being sold through Amazon must be an older model. Maybe they have been sitting on the shelf a long time? Anyway, if you have trouble, contact the manufacturer. It seems obvious they have heard the complaints about these adapters and have responded.

New version of this product is 100% excellent
UPDATE: The new completely different version of this adapter is not just completely superior to the old one it is the way it should have been done in the first place! This is a replacement lid for the S9's humidifier. The connection from the SoClean goes to the top of the lid. In daily use you pop open the lid as per usual to fill the tank, then close the lid making sure the short (2") hose goes into the tank's filler hole. And you're done! The heated mask hose goes straight to the connection on the back of the humidifier the way ResMed designed it. When installing this replacement lid make sure to take the silicone seal out of the old lid and press it in place on this one.If you've got the old inline hose adapter - THROW IT AWAY and BUY THIS VERSION!

Can be fixed to work better...
The design is not all that good. Once attached to the heated hose it's a real pain to remove. You have to use a screwdriver and slowly pry it away from the adaptor and hose connection. I found that the plastic orange hub that holds the tubing locked to the device and the humidifier to be the problem. I shaved that orange protrusion down a bit at a time to take of very fine layers till I could get it to fit into the SoClean Hose Adaptor and come out easier it took a few tries but I got it just right and now it's so simple and works real well. I think the idea was that it was to stay connected up to the ResMed humidifier all the time even when you are using it. Not sure if that is true or not. I unhook it each cleaning but then that is a pain. Though it's much easier now that I shaved of a couple of layers on the connections on the hose to the Adaptor.

Okay... but.....
I bought this product to go along with the SoClean I use because I have heated tubing with my Resmed S9. The first night I used my S9 with this lid, I slept terribly because there was a very obvious leak at the sight of the lid. I noticed that I had not pushed the lid down all the way and figured it was user error. However, after making sure that the gasket was put in place properly, the lid was closed completely, there was still a very loud air leak coming from the lid. I cannot for the life of me get it to not leak. Soooo, I use the original lid, during the night while I sleep and in the morning I swap lids so that when the SoClean comes on a bit later it all still gets disinfected. Just be ware it might not seal like you would hope. Otherwise, I still like using the SoClean and having a disinfected mask and tubing.

A Million Times Better than the Old S9 Adapter
If you have the old, plastic, cheap, in line hose adapter, throw it away. This is so much better if you use the heated hose on your Res Med S9 CPAP. You simply remove your old lid off the humidifier, take out the silicon insert and put it in the new lid, then pop the new lid on (the short black tubing goes into the opening of the actual water chamber.) Plug the So Clean tubing directly to the tubing sticking out of the new lid (as shown in this ad picture) and you're done. That probably sounds ten times harder than it actually is. This is the design that should have been offered the first time for S9 heated hose users. It actually works great!

Better locking mechanism should be considered. That must be why they moved on to the next CPAP 10
Often pops open when engaging the CPAP therapy, it’s a pain when this happens,

Works Well!
Fits perfectly and works great. If you travel with your machine insure that you keep the original lid. You will need to switch back to it if traveling.
