Sicario [4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray + Digital HD]

This is a movie I never saw when it came out, and years later when I watched it I was blown away. I’m a fan of the director (who later went on to direct the Dune movies). After only seeing it once, I decided to pick it up on 4k UHD. I just rewatched it again last night and it’s still great. It’s well written, well acted, well directed and well shot. Benecio Del Toro especially steals the show in this, which is why they gave him a sequel (though I haven’t seen that, and heard it wasn’t great). I think this is a great sounding, great looking disc and am happy I got it.

One of the best Denis Villenue movies with suspense, story, great acting and looks amazing on 4k. Perfect!

Denis Villeneuve and crew are an amazing new force in film. His past films are amazing for the most part, and this one is no exception. I am glad Hollywood saw that this guy and his team can craft some really great films and decided to hire him for some bigger budget fair. His previous films in Enemy, Incendies, and Prisoners were all very creative and enthralling. But now he is on the BIG circuit, and one can only hope that creativity stays put. For Sicario it does. This is a somewhat quiet but mesmerizing thriller you might mistake for not being a big Hollywood production at all. But the acting is first rate here, there is a sense of realism lacking in worse action pictures, and the characters are fleshed out just enough to keep you interested in the main trio, always wondering what might happen to any one of them in the next scene. The script is micromanaged and assertive in its control of the reasoning behind each character's decisions, though, we are never truly privy to some of the past happenings in each of their lives. Blunt totally shines here as does Del Toro. Brolin as well puts in a quality performance as the veteran CIA officer. The three actors really bring out the details in the script, and the direction and cinematography as well the score are all spot on. This is quality film. I would rate it at 4.5 stars, but I guess I'm giving it the full 5 here.

The movie itself is great. I can watch it repeatedly and not a lot of movies are worth my time. The picture quality is very good. I believe it is only a 2K Digital Intermediate (DI), but it still looks great. I can see some softness in certain scenes, but it doesn't detract from the visual enjoyment. The movie has an earthy tone throughout (duh--lot's of desert!). The bar scene (and police lights) really show the vibrancy of HDR. I wouldn't say that the video is demo quality, like The Revenant or Blade Runner 2049, but it is no slouch. 8/10 Audio quality is also very good. The sound stage is crisp and clear. The surround imaging is accurate. There are a few notable scenes that really thunder but, overall, the movie is somewhat quiet with regard to LFE. I think it is a wonderful sounding film, but it won't blow your walls down constantly like a true audio demo selection. Blade Runner 2029, Mad Max: Fury Road, and The Dark Knight are a few titles that will assault your senses and leave you breathless. 8/10

This film is phenomenal in every aspect. A thrilling story that has you locked in from the start till the end. Great cinematography and sound design. Remember to buy physical media so you always own your media!

This movie is a simple taste of what is really going on at the Southern Border of the U.S.. Anyone that thinks this only happens in the movies needs to go to the Boarder and do a Ride-Along with CBP or Boarder Patrol. We do not need the Bleeding Hearts telling us we need to Get-In-Touch-With-Our-Feelings, and feel sorry for these people. They have No Respect for American Law, American way of Life, Respect for life, Value of Life ! America STOPPED the Tyranny over 250 years ago - they need to do the same - - - -

Great movie!!! I had bought the second one before this one. This one was just as action packed, if not more. Highly recommended!!!

Fantastic movie 🎥 Cartel - Drugs and Money is the number one mission. Everyone else is expendable. Performances 🎭 by Blunt, Del Toro and Brolin were amazing. So, get your popcorn 🍿 strap in 💺 and get ready for a roller coaster 🎢 ride of spooks, ghosts, drugs, money, weapons, tunnels and a lot of civilian casualties. In the drug war - you don’t know who, you can trust.

Review about disc, not the movie. Opened package and found the case was shrink wrapped, not the usual cellophane that movies come wrapped in. Opened the case and found the 4k UHD disc has radial scratches along the data surface. Unacceptable. Bluray disc was fine. Returning and have replacement on the way. Update...Replacement came today, looks like this one is good. Had the cellophane wrapping, not the shrink wrapping of the first order. Discs look good, no scratches. Suspect first order was a resealed used product or return based on difference in wrappers.
