if you have the home depot windows what are vinyl and have the tiny piece on the window that is on top this is 100 percent what you need.. the back part of the latch fit perfect , the locking front part i had to move in closer then my original one but i used the same self tapping screws i pulled out and it went on great .. took me under 10 minutes to install including the one that didn't match up perfect ,this is to make sure my little 5 year old boy with autisum does not get out ,, as for security a professional alarm system is a way better option if you have cheap windows like me ,but for safety these things are great look better built then the original one i had

The latch had a thinner width which works very well on vinyl replacement Windows. Would definitely recommend this product.

The latch is so small that it barely keeps the lock locked. With just a low-pressure push on the window sill the locked latch can be moved away from the catch and the window can be opened when locked. Using this lock is less secure than any standard non-lock window sash latch.
