Chantal Oslo Cordless Electric Kettle (Fog Grey)

Boiling water was efficient up to about 3 months. Discovered puddle of water seemingly coming from around the handle area.

Don’t buy it! We have owned two of these, the first one started leaking around the water level window after a couple months of owning it. We found that if generally, we would only fill it to about 5 cups. It would be OK so we kept on with it for a while. Then we finally replaced it with a new one hoping that it had just been a simple defect. The new one started leaking after two months and will only hold three cups before leaking. And of course it can’t be replaced now. The design and the look of this is just what I wanted, but it’s an expensive electric kettle to be so poorly made.

When my old tea kettle died and couldn't find a modern looking one for my kitchen, was happy to find this one to fit in with my white kitchen. It goes well with all my other countertop appliances. Works so simply and quick to heat. Love the touch of "wood" handle. Not loud or finicky (but very Finnish looking.) If it's the look you like---don't hesitate wondering if it is going to work well. It's awesome. Perfect size too.

I can honestly say that I looked at every single electric water kettle on Amazon — several times I might add, and settled on this one primarily because of how it looks. I love the Scandinavian design: clean and simple with an attractive neutral color and organic wood handle. The feature is basic with a blue light switch (nice touch) to indicate when it’s on; and that’s all I need to boil water. I don’t need fancy temperature settings. Last but not least, I was willing to shell out a little extra because Chantal is a quality and trusted brand.

We so loved the sleek design and color of this kettle as it sat on the countertop. It heats up water fast and is easy to pour with the sturdy handle. But as you can see in the video, sometimes it leaks - even when not filled up to the max or tilted improperly. I reached out to customer service about it a while ago and they advised it was probably too full and to handle it carefully. We always were careful with it and never dropped it or such. But it would continue to leak on and off even though we never filled it to max. Then the lid got harder and harder to remove over time and finally it just broke off. This kettle is only a little over 2 years old but at this price point, I would have expected it to last much longer. So disappointed. :(

This tea pot is much nicer in person. The wooden handle feels good in your hand and does not absorb heat. It is one of the quieter pots I have owned and comes to a boil pretty fast. The only downside is the outside of the pot does get a little hot but that would not keep me from purchasing it.

Purchased this electric tea kettle because I knew the brand and believed it to be a quality item. However, I tried it out the day it arrived only to find it leaked as I poured the water and a puddle had formed on my counter around the unit. So thinking I did something wrong, I re-read the instructions and tried again only to have the same result. It appeared to be a defective kettle as the packaging was in perfect condition. Amazon accepted the return and credited my account with no problem. Don’t think I’ll order another one, I’ll go with another brand.

I was looking for something contemporary unique and selected this kettle. So far works great, the wooden handle is sold and the outside of the kettle stays cool when the kettle is hot, and I am happy with the design. I am giving it 4 instead of 5 stars because of the cheaper quality black plastic and the workmanship at the very top or the kettle (see photo). Update 3 years later: still works great, but there is rust at the bottom after about a year. I'm not sure if stainless steel should rust. Although I throw out the water after each use, there is still moisture at the base so it's not completely dry.
