works perfect
Why doesn't anyone stock these? Super tough, good coating, and decent price for what you get

Best option for a 1.5" length (hard to find short lags)
SPAX also makes (used to make) a 1.5" coated construction lag with a hex-head. I used some of those for attaching my deck posts to the footers. (I may have actually used a 2"?) Anyway, that's the only other brand that I know of with a short-depth coated lag screw, and they are more expensive than these.I'm using these to bottom-screw new floorboards (2x6) on my utility trailer. The original deck was top-screwed using hardened machine screws that were NOT coated or SS (don't get me started...) I have already replaced a couple boards with these and they held up great, so now I'm redoing the entire floor with them.If you only need 10 or so for a small project, Lowe's sells these by the screw. If you need a lot, best to get the whole box. I need 70-80 for the trailer, but at the price of the large box, I figured I'd shell out $20 for essentially a lifetime supply.

Fantastic quality!
These little screws are awesome. They go in smooth and hold like crazy!

Overall a good quality screw, but the driver doesn't seat into screw head well enough and creates problems.
I used these screws on my redwood fence. I used steel brackets to hold up the rails, and used these screws to attach the rails to the brackets.First thing I noticed, the torx drive that comes with the screws doesn't fit well into the screw head. They don't seat well and you'll likely slip out of the screw head numerous times. You have to use your free hand to control the screw as you drive it in or it will end up angling into the wood badly. I ended up taking the screw to my local hardware store and finding a better driver that sat well in the head. Huge improvement. The other problem is that the "pre-drilling" effect of the screw can really tear up soft woods like redwood. You have to go very slow at first or you will strip the wood out and won't get a good, snug fit. The first 1/4" of the screw is very serrated to help it drill into the wood. This is good for hardwoods, bad for softwoods. I didn't knock the star off for this though. I took off a star for the driver being lousy.

Poor quality
Did not bite into wood like others I have used, poor fit on both the supplied bit as well as mine, made screw wobble and harder to start.
