A better way to save your teeth
This book actually shows you how to heal and preserve your teeth through nutrition. A wonderful side effect of following Mr. Nagel's advice is that every aspect of your health will also improve. He bases his system on the nutritional advice of two outstanding dentists: Dr. Weston A. Price and Dr. Melvin Page. Mr. Nagel has simplified these nutritional principles and gives specific advice on what to avoid, and what to eat. We have all been taught that the only way to preserve our teeth is through dentistry. Dentistry can be extremely painful, expensive, and ineffective. Most people who rely on conventional dentistry alone eventually end up with toxic fillings, caps, and/or root canals, a lot of pain, and a great deal of expense. The end result is that many of these people lose most of their natural teeth. A very different result was observed by Dr. Weston A. Price when he studied peoples who ate a traditional diet. They had neither dentists nor tooth decay. They kept all of their teeth, even in extreme old age. Mr. Nagel was faced with a terrible decision. The teeth of his very young daughter were so bad that she would require extensive dental work to save her teeth. Rather than condemn his daughter to dental torture, Mr. Nagel did his research and found another way to save her teeth. The results of his research are clearly described in this book, along with his methods for improving the health of teeth and gums. Mr. Nagel analyzes, explains, and covers every dental issue. He explains the real cause of tooth decay (it's not what you've been taught), and what you can do to stop it, and reverse it. He explains what toxins to avoid, what foods to avoid, and what foods you can eat to stop tooth decay and heal your teeth and gums. Mr. Nagel presents several different eating plans. I started with the easiest plan, and noticed an immediate improvement in the health of my teeth and gums. I've had no need to see a dentist since. This book convinced my wife to give up sugar and to eat butter from grassfed cows instead. Not only does this butter help provide the nutrition for healthy teeth and gums, it really satisfies, and greatly reduces the craving for sugar. Not only did the health of her teeth improve, but she lost two dress sizes. I particularly like how Mr. Nagel explains the hazards of modern dentistry, which uses many toxins, and the dangers of fluoride. Mr. Nagel never brings up a problem without suggesting a solution. The solutions he suggests will improve every aspect of your health. Mr. Nagel emphasizes the benefits of eating grassfed meat, a subject that is very important to me. I highly recommend this book for everyone who has teeth, and wants to keep them. Review is by Stanley A. Fishman, author of Tender Grassfed Meat: Traditional Ways to Cook Healthy Meat .

I wish I read this book while I was growing up
I am very much a do-it-yourself person, and I wished I could take care of my teeth all on my own and that I never had to go to visit any dentists - now there is a hope that I can take much better care of my teeth than I suspected before. Years ago I met a woman who was about 50 years old and who had perfect teeth - she never had any dental problems and when I asked her for her secret she said throughout her life she brushed her teeth only with salt and sodium bicarbonate. It sounded pretty simple and I didn't give it much thought at a time, but if one cause of tooth decay is too much acid in saliva, then the fact that sodium bicarbonate would alkalinize the mouth and protect the teeth from decay would make sense. Putting few drops of clove essential oil, oregano oil, tea tree oil in a bit of sesame and olive oil as a base works great to kill infections and reduce pain. CoQ10 helps to strengthen the gums. The author of this book shares a nutritional protocol that would help to strengthen gums and teeth - the essence of which are common sense suggestions presented in any book on healing through nutrition, namely that we should eat food as close to their natural state as possible. This book has more specific food recommendations and even though the nutritional protocol is offered both for vegetarians and non-vegetarians, it seems that according to the author the optimal nutrition for better teeth consists of a good deal of meat and on top of it - raw meet, which may not be exactly the cup of tea of most people. The author doesn't seem sure whether vegetarian nutrition can provide sufficient nutrients, yet I can't help but think of countless people in India, for example, who are vegetarian and do have perfect teeth. The other day a friend of mine who often travelled to India mentioned that she met there a woman who was very poor and had barely enough food, but she had perfect teeth - the woman used to brush her teeth with earth and twigs from some tree (perhaps neem). The author shares several pictures of people whose nutrition was as close to nature of their region as possible and who had perfect teeth and beside them are pictures of people from the same region who fed themselves mostly with processed food that is popular in the "civilized" world. Those people had half of their teeth missing and they look more like extreme cases, nevertheless our bodies being like a chemical laboratories, with our cells constantly renewing, the body can renew itself only with the whatever we put into it and if we feed our bodies with food that has no nutritional value, no wonder that our bodies are falling apart. The author of this book doesn't claim that he has all the answers and ultimately we are encouraged to experiment, to listen to our bodies and to find out what works best for us. The book contains few recipes for making your own tooth powder and assortment of remedies for dealing with gum and tooth issues. He also provides addresses of several websites where you can find more resources. I do consider the book informative, inspiring and altogether helpful.

Great Book-Must Read
This is a very important book for anyone to read, not just if you have tooth issues. It is a must for anyone's "health" book collection. As a chiropractor I am always looking for books that promote and explain real nutrition, actually feeding the body real food vs fake, low fat, no fat, over processed pseudo-food and are readable. This book reiterates much of how I recommend people eat. It is well written and researched. When I first looked at the book, I thought $28 for a paper back? So I decided to get it from the library to check it out first. I must say, after about the first chapter I new this book was worth every penny. The author shares commonly unknown research from dental pioneer Dr Weston Price among others, that helps to debunk so much of the nutrition myths we are fed (no pun intended)in our society. Step by step instructions on how to heal tooth infections and cavities as well as how to strengthen and re-mineralize your teeth! I don't ever remember a dentist telling me that was even possible.I felt a couple of obvious things were missing for the amount of research the author had obviously done. Then when I actually bought the book, it was the next edition and the things I felt were missing, ie, more on whole food supplements and a certain company in particular, as well as blotting, a technique developed by Dr Phillips for healing gum disease, were actually in the new edition plus so much more. I read the first edition cover to cover and have not yet read all of the second edition, but I have skimmed through and have seen many more pertinent additions. I have been making the bone broth soup, taking more of the cod liver oil and butter oil and have recently found a farm that sells grass fed/organic meats and organs as well as bones for the soup. I actually look forward to my next dental trip :) The information is really basic, eat the way nature intended. I don't agree with every single statement he has on some foods, but for the most part, he is right on. Yes, it costs more to buy organic and grass fed and high quality cod liver and X-factor butter oil, but I would much rather spend good money on good nutritious food that will help this body to heal itself and keep my teeth, then pay a few hundred dollars to have a tooth pulled or maybe several hundred to thousands for crowns, root canals etc. This book and its recommendations are worth the investment. I even bought 3 other copies for family and friends and highly recommend it to my patients.

My Toddler Daughter's Tooth Decay
My daughter had a build up of plaque and discolouring on her two front teeth when she was 18 months old. When we brought her to a paediatric dentist he informed us that it was tooth decay and she would need to undergo a dental procedure to cap her teeth while being under a general anesthesia. He also informed us that her teeth would start flaking away within a month, but we should not be too concerned because he would do the procedure shortly after a month. He would have done it earlier but he was booked. To say my wife and I were concerned is an understatement, so we researched our daughter's predicament. My daughter was breastfed and given only home cooked foods. Until she was twelve months old she never had any foods with sugar. After twelve months the only time she had sugar was at parties. Even at these parties we would only give an extremely small piece of sweets. Also my wife and I avoid sugar, white flour and processed foods, so we were stumped as to how her tooth decay occurred. When I read this book things started to make sense. The information this book provided on the perils of phytic acid began to explain my why my daughters teeth were more susceptible to decay even though she was not eating sugar or white flour. The book explained what nutrition is required for strong teeth and a healthy life style. After we implemented the dietary changes and supplements recommended by this book we have seen no further tooth decay for the past 8 months. As far as having her tooth decay reversed we have not seen any signs that this has happened, but we are happy and grateful to see our daughter's front teeth even with the tooth decay are still strong enough for her to bite through apples and carrots and she has never complained about pain from those teeth. This book would have gotten five stars except for one problem. Implementing the dietary recommendations of this book was extremely difficult. My daughter's diet became very restricted, given that we tried to avoid foods containing phytic acid. The book really needs to supplement itself with a recipe book or more recommendations on grains or legumes that do not contain phytic acid. Getting information online about phytic acid levels in grains (like quinoa, spelt, hemp seeds, etc,) is difficult and even stores like Whole Foods were unable to help. The only recommendations I could make to others with this problem is to ensure that you increase your intake of recommended foods and not worry about phytic acid containing foods. Aside from the recommendations given in this book, the other treatment I have done for my daughter's teeth is personally swabbing the areas of tooth decay with Iodine every couple of weeks. I will not get into the specifics of this treatment, but I recommend people research this treatment before proceeding.

My sons mouth wasn't as bad as I thought - it required steady attention and ...
Where can I begin.... My son was maybe 3 when I bought this book, his front 4 teeth were black and loads of deep cavities. He always cried during attempts at brushing and I would slink away or just avoid the cry. I was depressed with the look and embarrassed when anyone would notice the black teeth. Why couldnt my sitter just respect my demands of don't give my kid junk food, candy or loads of sweets. She always said don't worry. I eventually found a new sitter when he was 4. My hopes of saving my little angels mouth went to the Internet. That's when I found this book. The tips and instruction from the book gave me and my son a burst of new hope and energy. I followed all I could and immediately noticed results. My sons mouth wasn't as bad as I thought - it required steady attention and patience. My sister in law has 13 kids and is from Yemen, She said don't listen to the dentist that just want to make money of the kids pulling out teeth that are not ready to come out and traumatizing the kids unnecessarily. She showed me the few she allowed the pull out to and those she did not and gave me hope that I could wait and just continue to monitor and brush regardless of the black. I took my son to 3 different Dentist. One said OMG no hope lets just sadate him and pull out loads of teeth. Another dentist looked and said OMG this is an emergency you must remove teeth. But according to my experienced sister in law with 13 kids these dentist were not for the kids but out to make money. I went to my final dentist. To my surprise this one took X-rays and let me know that no new teeth were affected and that if I can wait a bit longer the little black teeth would fall out and bright white teeth would soon be replacing them. Wow! I was so relieved. I continued following the book to address his teeth including baking soda, etc. now my son is 5 and he has all white teeth. He had baby teeth by 4months so that's why his first adult teeth arrived at 5 instead 6 or 7. Anyway, this book helped me to save my boy from the "wrong" dentist. God Bless the Author Much for all the kids she saved through this book.

Already getting results...and I haven't even finished the book!
I have never had particularly good teeth. As I child they were riddled with cavities and the dentist said I had poor enamel (enamel hypoplasia). Recently I have noticed the condition of my dental health deteriorating rapidly. My teeth have yellowed, become brittle and very sensitive and there are several cavities which are visible (some which are brown or have deep pits in my molars). I was searching for a natural way to combat tooth decay when I came across this book. I read all of the information on Ramiel's website and 2-3 days ago I began to change my diet. I have always been health conscious and tried to eat healthy, but there are so many conflicting ideas (and research) when it comes to nutrition. 3 days ago I STOPPED eating sugar and foods which are processed in any way. The past two days I have been dealing with intense migraines, but they seem to be subsiding. This reaffirms the idea that it is not good for us at all. I was ADDICTED, though I didn't know it. After doing this, I bought this book so I could really dive into it. I am only a third of the way into it and have only implemented certain things so far: Fermented cod liver oil/butter oil supplement (1/2 of Rami's recommended daily need due to the outrageous price) Only organic produce (preferably local, farm produced) Lots of pastured meat, eggs, cheese. Cut out ALL grains, legumes, and nuts. I have not been able to get raw milk yet due to its legal status in my state, but I have bought a herdshare at a local dairy farm and should begin receiving it at the end of this month. I did find some raw milk cheese at the last outdoor farmer's market yesterday. And I learned that it is legal to buy raw cheese as long as it has been aged at least 60 days. I am still working on a way to find good sources for local pastured meats, organs, bones etc. I also signed up for a local produce delivery services which acts as a middleman between the farms and consumers. That should also be starting toward the end of this month. Even though I haven't read the whole book yet, nor have I implemented more than of few of the tenets outlined in this but, I have already begun to FEEL a difference. My teeth and gums feel tighter and are SIGNIFICANTLY less sensitive to hot/cold. I haven't SEEN much remineralization, but I will update when I have made more changes to my diet. However, an unexpected improvement has begun with my digestive system too. Now things come out easily in one or two nice little packages and I have had no need to wipe. Additionally, I feel better all around, have more energy and can think more clearly, so I know I am onto something. This book seems like it will change my whole life and I anticipate results to come. I will update as I see more changes.

Very easy to understand and informative
This book is for everybody, especially if you want to keep all your teeth until the day you leave this awesome planet! Or you want to eliminate bad breath forever. This book is especially fantabulous if you have young children (as the author does) and you care about the health of their teeth. You can start them off fresh from birth and give them an incredible start to healthy teeth forever - even if yours aren't so good. And, you can make your own tooth health better!!! I have been practicing oil pulling for over a year and that is only one of so many topics covered in this book. It is one thing I credit for helping save both my teeth, and those of my husband, from modern conventional dentistry meaning, we have saved our teeth from having cavities filled and from having to be pulled, crowned, "root canaled", etc., etc. It's crazy what horrible and toxic heavy metals and chemicals modern dentists knowingly put in our mouths (e.g. mercury with silver fillings and BPA's in other "modern" composites. And it is very expensive to get them out and still save what these dentists have left us of our tooth! If you have ever seen the stub of a tooth before they place the crown, you know what I am talking about. Know that it doesn't' have to be that way - and it shouldn't! I would never say dentists are "bad" or "malicious" people, but I would say that they do choose to look the other way and go along with the ADA's, (American Dental Associations) mandates - if they didn't they would lose their license! Draconian! I would say that they do "knowingly" go along. And to me that is profoundly sad. Having fear, money and profit drive your decisions rather than doing what is truly best for their patient - you and me - is profoundly sad. I really hope you dig deep within yourself to gain the knowledge and understand what is best for you personally, when it comes to your health. And in this case, your oral health. To understand that what is best for you is not having another cavity being filled when you are in pain, or having a root canal because you were told that was what you had to do. I now understand how wrong my thinking has been on this subject. This book will teach you, as it is teaching me, exactly what we need to do and how to do that. I highly encourage you anybody interested in never having to detox mercury from "silver" fillings, buy dentures or ready made teeth, to purchase this book along with other books that Weston A. Price either wrote e.g. Nutrition and Physical Degeneration or from people who continue to research and tweak both his theories and his work as more science and technology becomes available. Happy Teeth to you!!!

Not much to crow about
I purchased this book because, at age 49 and with a lifetime of dental problems behind me, I was looking for an alternative to the usual "drill, fill and bill" methodology of conventional dentists. I've always been good at brushing and flossing, and even use a waterpik a few times per week, and yet found that I still have a mouthful of problems with my teeth. I didn't want yet another painful root canal and and an ugly gold crown, and I am completely opposed to ever putting mercury amalgam in my mouth again. Gum disease had also raised it's ugly head. I bought the book through Amazon, and I think that the author's basic message is a sound one: Americans eat lousy food, and because of that we have lousy teeth. In spite of our obesity epidemic, we still are deficient in the vitamins, minerals, and healthy fats that we need to be optimally healthy. We eat a lot of crap (myself include, and I'm turning that around) in the form of white flour, white sugar, soda, processed and frozen foods. In spite of all this food we still don't get the nutrients we need. Instead, we have big bellies and cavities. So far, so good. I agree completely with the author on that point. However, what I didn't like about the book was the reliance upon "research" that was done in the 1930's and earlier when a famous dentist (Weston Price) reported that Polynesian natives (most of whom are beautiful and have lovely teeth) who changed from their normal, healthy diets (including lots of saturated fat in the form of coconut oil) to a more westernized one (heavy on the carbohydrates) started to develop tooth decay. Not to discount Dr. Price, but this is basically the "get back to nature" party line that has been popularized by health gurus like Gayelord Hauser and Jack LaLane for the past 80 years. I felt that there was nothing new or even insightful in the book, and it seemed like a quick cut-and-paste job that a college sophomore puts together on the night before a paper is due. I wanted my money back, even though I agreed with the author on his main points. Without spoiling the book, all you folks out there need to eat healthier (including meat, butter and cheese) drink raw milk (good luck finding it) and supplement with cod liver oil every day. He recommends fermented cod liver oil rather than the store-bought variety. He doesn't explain why very well. I've found that I can follow his protocol in spirit, if not exactly as prescribed. I've learned to love the taste of roasted bone marrow on toast, and a bit of ghee on my morning oatmeal is delicious also. There is no way on earth I will ever eat raw liver, but I like the flavor of bone broth when it is used as a stock for homemade onion soup. My point is, this book had barely enough information to even be a pamphlet, much less a book.

BUY BUY BUY. Everyone should know about what is said in this book.
Amazing. Everyone should know about it. WHenever I have a toothache I do a one week cure of cod liver oil combo, and the pain is gone. I have however changed my diet towards fitting what is advised in the book, whenever I wasn't on another random health diet trying to fix other health issues. If you apply the knowledge of the book before you have issues (unlikely as who would buy a book about this, or listen to the advice of a friend unless you are in pain) you will not need the dentist. Once you are applying the knowledge, I believe your teeth won't get worse, but the remineralisation isn't ensured 100% unless you're treating a child. It can take an enormous amount of time for what I have read. I only have lost enamel issues, and it seems this is something no one can do anything about it (tell me if I'm wrong) but if your cavities have reached the dentin or makes your tooth hurt, or you've been told you should get a root canal, try this before making the appointment with the dentist. It is worth it. Red23 (I think?) sells the CLO in the UK, I buy a few bottles at a time to save on high postage costs (watch out for promotions on the mailing list) and use it when I think about it, or when I have pain, just because I have been a slacker on this front, I'd advise the cinnamon flavour, the rest of the flavours available in the UK are absolutely disgusting. So far I have pain or sensitivity in my teeth maybe 6 times in the 3 years since I have read the book. Every single time, within 1 days of taking the CLO the pain disappeared. I kept taking the oil for a few days until I forgot, and that was it. A few days ago one of my fillings fell off, it's Xmas, I'm off and I want to try to remineralise my tooth so that if I happen to want a new filling for aesthetic purposes there is not more digging into more of my good tooth. Last time I dropped a filling on that tooth, it hurt and I knew I had to do something,. This time, I could feel the pain when drinking, and again within a day of doing the CLO (with the right nutrients, I need to really get this one right this time), the sensitivity is gone. I'm also using MI Paste/Tooth Mousse which I think you can also get on Amazon, to provide even more minerals for my teeth, read up on that too, it's separate from Cure Tooth Decay, I don't think Ramiel talks about it, I found out about it with my own research.

Worthwhile
Great book, very worthwhile. Only one flaw: The author talks about particular outlets, stores, 'imported' products...without mentioning where he is! So the reader is left wondering. It's not hard to guess, because it's only Americans who do this - that uniquely odd habit of presuming everyone you are speaking to is also American, rather than one of the other 96%. So that's a little odd and means you have to figure out your own local situation, but the information is very worthwhile.

A lire absolument

Outstanding
I really like the fact that teeth's inner health depends on our health and our diet. I also find amazing and intuitive that we are not born to brush our teeth.. because we are perfect just the way we are. And i'm very greatful the last chapters introduce functional orthodontics. I will continue eating raw vegetables and fruit adding fermented natto and raw milk. for vitamin k2 absorption, and will start cleaning my teeth in a different and more genuine way: brushing, tape flossing, salt and water/oil pulling, tongue scraping!
