This exceeded my expectations. I really do not like the drudgery of digging a bunch of holes to plop flowers into. This makes its so quick and effortless. Plus, my back appreciates the improved method! Buy this one. It's the good, quality gardening tool.

I ordered the Power Planter for use in my vegetable garden. It arrived on time, well packed and in perfect condition. The first thing that got my attention was how hefty and solid the unit was...the craftsmanship was very nice as well. I used a 1/2 inch cordless drill with a drill bit extension to plant potted vegetables. The larges pot was about 19-20 oz. The unit worked as described. You need to keep a very good grip on the drill in case the Power Planter binds on a rock or root. By moving the drill back and forth while moving the planter up and own in the hole, I was able to make holes for plants that were significantly larger than 3 inches in diameter. Before the Power Planter, I had to fight the clay in the garden with a small hand shovel...difficult and time-consuming. The Power Planter is very fast and far easier. I am very satisfied with this product. The extra money I spent was well worth it for a quality product made in the USA and I highly recommend it.

Very durable and efficient at digging. I used this auger not only to plant, but to dig some deep roots of a 10ft tree to remove (even though this probably wasnt advised by the manual) and it did so with no issues; made the job a lot easier. There’s cheaper listings for earth augers out there, but I’m glad I spent a bit extra for a quality item that will last me a while. It’s also by a family owned company that’s passed down from generations which is always great to see.

This item cut my flower planting by at least one-half. However, I used my Black & Decker cordless drill the first time and it stalled out when the auger hit packed soil. I switched to my more powerful DeWalt cordless the second time and because it had the power and the setting required the auger worked beautifully. As the instructions warn, if you are not careful it can get away from you very quickly. I would recommend this to any weekend warrior gardner because it is quick, it makes the hole exactly where you want it and it actually mulches up the soil a bit so when you put the plant into the hole you have nice soil to pack it down.

i love this auger! I planted more than 40 bulbs in less than an hour. I also used it to plant lilacs - I just drilled to combine several holes to accomodate the root system. I cannot say enough good things about the Tanaka auger. It literally saved my back as i had some vertebra fused a couple of years ago, so I have to be careful about back strain. The best part is: now i can order as many bulbs as i want because i don't have to dig. It also left the dirt in a nice pile around the edge, so all I had to do was make the hole, pop in the bulb, and cover it with the neat pile of dirt surrounding the hole. I do want to let you know, and this is not the fault of the auger, i found my mid-range cordless drill did not have enough power to drill, so i put it in my electric mid-range drill, and it worked perfectly. There are not enough superlatives to deecribe how easy planting has become!

Great for 3 inch grass plugs. This thing made quick work for making 64 holes for grass plugs. So glad I purchased this instead of the manual hand held plugged. I did the 64 holes in less than 10 minutes. Southwest Georgia with sandy loam soil. Very high quality. Update as I lost this one and had another 128 plugs to do. Luckily the pink one was a lot cheaper. Quality as always was great!

Bought 2 units. One failed on third use, the weirds failed. Not suitable for hard or stony ground

Love this product, wish I had got it sooner before I planted 200 bulbs using a spade bit on my cordless drill... this makes a bigger hole...than using the spade. really need to use it in combination with the longer bit...I also bought... as you need width as well as depth!!! sure makes life a lot easier using these. Highly recommend them not just for planting bulbs..can use it for putting plants in hard to dig soil...which I tend to have.

Delivered quickly. Whilst I havent used it yet, it appears to be well made and sturdy. I can see the benefit of the ones with the longer shafts as they could be used without bending down. Should make planting bare root plants, cell-grown plants and bulbs easy
