I'd Rather Be Single Paperback – August 19, 2011

Already I knew this would be a banger since it was coming from LaShonda Devaughn and boy was I right. It kicks off with her story 'The Skeletons In My Closet' in which I expected it to be good, but not THAT good. I could have never predicted the ending or some of the events leading up to it. While I say that, you gotta give it up to Mimi Renee, I PROMISE YOU that the twist in her book comes out of NOWHERE!!! I was in shock at how it all played out. She will be turning it into a full length novel. Tysha is an author I'd heard of before but never read any of her work. The story she had was a good introduction to her work. Last but not least is Kaie Golson. She's a newcomer to the literary scene but I can see that she's going to make her way in with her unique story.All in all I did really like this anthology, but LaShonda and Mimi's stories took the cake for me. So excited to read more of their work, they both have two other novels they've published (seperately) that are pretty good!GO BUY!!! $3.99 is a STEAL for this fabulous book!!

This book grabbed my attention from the very beginning. I enjoyed all of the stories but The Skeletons in my closet by LaShonda DeVaughn left my mouth hanging open. When I got to the end I wanted more and I had to take a break before I continued on to the next story. Once I did I was pleasantly surprised by Mimi's story Taking Chances. The hopeless romantic in me was disappointed in the ending of Something in Your Backstroke by Tysha. The story was good I just hoped that Random had changed his ways but it goes to show you once a cheater always a cheater. Sleeping with the enemy by Kaie Golson was also a good read although somewhat predictable. All in all I enjoyed reading all of these short stories and would read other works by these authors.

that first story was AMAZING. i loved every moment of it from beginning to end. Tyra truly deserved a happy ending after all she had gone through. LaShonda DeVaughn really came with it on this one! I will be seeking other books from her now, ASAP! (this should have been the last story because it was the best!)the second story presented so many characters in the very beginning that it made it a little confusing at first. but overall, it was still a great story that was hard to put down. too bad Rita fell for the okey doke, but Ken Loc played the wrong chick!the third story was also very good. wow, Random is such a dog. poor Jai was a good wife and stood by her cheating husband even with his jealous mother causing havoc between them.the final story, Sleeping with the Enemy, was fabulous as well. Zoe was done wrong by 2 of the closest people to her. and the ending is crazy!!this book was everything i expected and more!! loved it!!

I HAVE TO GIVE PROPS TO ALL THE AUTHORS THAT WROTE STORIES IN I'D RATHER BE SINGLE. THE FIRST STORY TOOK ME BY SURPRISE I MEAN REALLY HOW COULD SOMEONE BE YOUR MAN WHEN HE DIDN'T BELONG TO YOU IN THE FIRST PLACE NOW THAT WAS A TRIP I WOULD LOVE TO READ MORE ON THAT STORY. TAKING CHANCES WAS A BOOK HAD A LOT OF TWIST AND TURNS TO THE STORY AND WOULD LIKE TO FOR IT TO CONTINUE SO WE ALL WILL KNOW WHAT HAPPENS AND THE OTHER TWO BOOKS WELL JUST SAY THEY WAS GOOD AS WELL FIRST TIME READING A BOOK BY TYSHA AND KAIE GOLSON WHICH WAS INTERESTING AS WELL KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK LADIES I WILL ALWAYS SUPPORT YOU ALL I WILL BE ON THE LOOK OUT FOR MORE UPCOMING BOOKS FROM ALL YOU LADIES.

I will admit that I only purchased this book because it was $.99...lol, but I was happy that I did! I learned about a new author (Mimi Renee) and have since read ALL of her books....THAT is how good her short story was compared to the others. I am not knocking the other ladies because I did enjoy all of the stories, its just that the Nickerson Barbie is crazy and I can't wait to see what she does next!

Wow book 3 wasok but book 1 & 2 were fire. I cant believe I bought this book over a ear ago and never read until today and i couldnt put it down. I am excited to know that one of the books returned in id rather be single part two which i am going to start reading right now and another one of the books is followed by the barbie series which i cant wait to read. Good job ladies

Usually when you read an anthology there are only a few stories that are good but I must say I throughly enjoyed every story in this book. Each story was penned with a twist that I never expected and I loved every minute of it. I was so into the book I thought I was watching a movie. I would love to read other books from these ladies. Don't be scared of this book because it is an anthology because you will be pleasantly surprised. I guarantee you will love every story in this book. Am ust read in my opinion. Great job ladies!

This book of shorts stories was a good one. Each story leaves you feeling like I'd Rather Be Single at the same time wondering did these MEN really feel like they loved these women when they did the things they did. The things these women went through only god could have keep me free from harming them, while reading some time I found myself saying out loud run, no, why! One thing I did get from the book at the end of each story there was a lesson learned by each women. A must read ladies this book left me SMH but I also learned from their mistakes.

This is a start of good book, love the different story lines.
