Couple of things, this can either be mounted on the hood or on any of the doors. I chose to place mine on the rear drivers door for ease of access. I have a 4in lift on my jeep sitting on 37s. In other words, placing on the hood would be impractical. I opted not to use the self locking nuts to keep the carriage bolts in place for the simple fact that when you put the wing nuts on, no thread of the bolt comes through after tightening the wing nuts. So I went to Acer Hardware (any hardware store will do) and purchased two 2in long, 3/8th thread carriage bolts. Those are the ones in the picture. For a little additional security on the wing nuts, used a zip-tie, pulling in a tightening direction, I didn’t make the zip-tie too tight, just snug. This will prevent the wing nuts from backing off and loosening while driving. While hindsight I feel it wasn’t necessary, I wasn’t going to take the chance of them loosening up while driving down the highway. Even when I went off-roading and went through some fairly thick and sturdy brunch, the zip-ties stay on, the mount system worked as advertised and I am extremely pleased with it. The one thing I did when hanging the high lift jack on the bolts was to have the base of the jack on my rock sliders. This takes much of the weight off the door hinge bracket bolts and takes away any vibration while traveling. Would I buy again? Well, it is my second one cause I gave the other one away to a friend who had a high lift jack but no way to mount it. Having it mounted on the rear doors, it does get into your side mirror views but not enough for me to want to change it. I don’t leave my jack mounted all the time but if I go for a long trip to hit a trail, it will stay mounted and I purchased a locking bolt so the high lift won’t end up wandering off.

Didn't work on front door as advertised. Waste of my time. Could not open door all the way when mounted, unless mounted real low which would hit obstacles on the trail. Also couldn't use brackets and washers and strap. No instructions. I guess the Chinese couldn't figure out how to install either.

DO NOT tighten the bolts that the jack sits on without some planning. First time we tried, it really bent the mount. If you use an 18” pipe wrench to secure the mount, you should be able to get them tight.

The install was pretty simple (no instructions but pretty self explanatory or Google for install) and as another review mentioned, the painted bolts on the hinges were pretty tough. I also had to heat them with a blow torch but other than that... pretty straight forward. I mounted in the opposite direction as I like the jack sitting close to the windshield than over the hood but either way works. Just a matter of preference. I may turn them around as the way they are now, I might have to remove the mounts to open the hood. Not sure if that's a big deal or not. Overall very pleased with the mounts and a great price.

The problem with these mounting brackets is that they're a little too wide to sit flat into my 2008 Jeep Wrangler's hood hinges properly. You can either grind them down to fit or do like I did a place a few small washers between the bottom of each bracket and the hinge. Otherwise this kit seems well made. I used a small rifle cable lock to keep my hi-lift jack from walking away from me one day and these brackets offer plenty of holes to attach the lock.
