Jacquard Products Soda Ash Dye Fixer, 1 Pound Bag

This JACQUARD soda ash powder is excellent to use in my flux mixes when melting metals and doing mineral testing. This soda ash absorbs impurities like iron when trying to purify metals in a high molten state and pulls them out into the slag. Easy to use in flux mixes and this multiuse product works good for many uses. Good find!

This is a must-have if you're using it with the procion dye. I've dyed quite a few things with this and have always been a happy camper. It won't help much with polyester if your dye isn't synthetically rated, but blends and cotton work well. DO NOT NEGLECT THE INSTRUCTIONS. Wait 15 monutes before adding this.

Super easy to use and seems to work great! Huge difference between no soak and soaking for 20-30 minutes. Definitely worth getting!

If you're doing tie dye, put the soda ash and your undyed cloth or clothing into a bucket of water together BEFORE you dye your fabric,. This prevents the colors from running like they would if you did a soda ash bath after your cloth was already tie dyed. This product works insanely well. You just need to use it right! (If you're not doing tie dye, but instead you're just doing a dye bath where you fill a bucket with water and dye, you can add soda ash later and it's no problem)More review and tips on how to use soda ash belowI've been using this soda ash for about a year now. It works REALLY well, pretty much any color you dye stays put after you rinse out the dye. Can be added to dye bath immediately or later depending on preference. Both methods lock in the color. I haven't tried this with natural dye, but I know that with MX dyes or RIT dye this works perfectly. You don't need a ton of it. maybe a quarter to half cup per medium sized (about a foot tall x foot wide bucket). so if you're not dying a ridiculous amount of yardage this bag should last a decent while.

Just learning how to different tie dyes when I accidentally bought this thinking I needed it (when I didn’t) but then as I tried other dyes, it turned out I did need it.I will be buying more soon. Turns out about a cup makes a gallon of or pre soak so depending on how much you do, this will be more than enough or you may need lots more.I keep mixed portion in a five gallon bucket with lid to save so I can come back to it. You can apparently sprinkle on at end of process to but still just working on one process at a time.

This soda ash is perfect for cleaning the turbulators on oil boilers, which is what i purchased it for. A1 item.

I don’t have experience of another so can’t make a judgement, however, it does the job.
