BEST cookbook for this simple-minded cook

Learn How to Boil Water....Seriously!
First things first. There are no photos in this book. Now, I'm huge when it comes to cookbooks having photos - especially if I'm unfamiliar with what I'm cooking. I want to know that it looks the way it's supposed to. However, in this book, that may not be such a problem - simply because these are simple recipes for simple foods. You already know what most of this is supposed to look like. So who is this book for? It's NOT for the home cook. It's NOT for anyone who already cooks. This is a basic starter cookbook for the person who has never cooked a thing before. It's perfect for the kid who is just moving out on his own, getting his first apartment who realizes that, while fast food is probably going to be their main staple, once in a while they may want to cook dinner (or if they get lucky, breakfast) for someone. Scrambled eggs. Grilled Cheese. Salad. Sandwiches. Boiling Water. Wait...boiling water? Yes, this cookbook explains how to boil water or fry a strip of bacon. It's that basic. The most complicated things are lasagna and enchiladas, but even those are basic and easy. Each recipe is written in clear, easy to follow language and is rated if it's easy, medium, or hard. Most are rated easy. In addition, they call for ready made items like refrigerated biscuits, jarred spaghetti sauce, and Velveeta. This is truly a foolproof little cookbook for the person who thinks cooking is reheating Chinese takeaway in the microwave. It won't make you a gourmet chef, but it will get you fed.

Finally found the perfect cook book
Mac n cheese in a box, basic. Spaghetti with garlic bread sticks was my โbig Mealโ. I would get overwhelmed when it came to YouTube videos and other millions of different cook books so I got super detached with cooking all together. But this book made me feel absolutely confident and I could actually make real meals now I am so happy

Pretty good! Worth the buy
Iโve found it very helpful overall. Especially enjoy that there are a lot of โsemi homemadeโ style recipes. Truly lives up to the title in my opinion. My only complaint is that itโll list โthree stepsโ but, each โstepโ is a paragraph ofโฆsteps. Letโs put less priority on โonly three steps!โ and more on formatting it to be easy.

easy to follow
I got this for my sister for her birthday and she loved it. I took it for a test run before I gave it to her and made some cookies from it. Good ol fashioned chocolate chip and they were SO GOOD. I usually suck at making chocolate chip cookies (dont even know why) but these?????AMAZING.

Good recipes, no photos
Part of the appeal of cookbooks is the photos that are in them so you know what you're making and what it should look like. This book skips all photos and just has pages of recipes. I don't mind this as we live in the era of technology. If I don't know what a recipe looks like when it's done, I can consult Google Image in 2 seconds. It has some really great recipes and they have a grading system from very easy to fairly difficult for each recipe so you know in advance before you start if you're in over your head or not. They are very simple recipes, often classics, which is the whole point to this book as it's titled for people like me who can burn a pot of water.
