Samsonite Unisex-Adult Windguard Auto Open Umbrella

I purchased this product solely based on the fact that I was tired of my Wal-mart umbrellas breaking every year. I did my Amazon research and decided for the price, reviews and brand that I would purchase this. I first used the umbrella on a cruise. I looked into the weather before debarkation that we were going to have a light/medium downpour all 4 days in the Caribbean. The size was also perfect for my luggage as it lays flat and not round. I do live in the mid-west and our weather changes by the minute. I wanted something to keep in my car for those minute changing situations. This umbrella is everything I've ever wanted. My last umbrella didn't have the windguard and was constantly flipping inside-out during heavy winds. The color is exactly as you see. It comes with a sleeve for nice storage. it has two Velcro straps that hold even when it was soaked. The easy open feature is nice and works perfectly. I would recommend this product weather you live in little/heavy rain areas. It also provided nice sunshade; which is an added bonus!

Best umbrella for the cost. I enjoy this umbrella because of the bright colors, easy to hold handle, perfect size (not too big for a bag, yet keeps your covered), easy open/close button, double wind-proof slits (perfect for Chicago and Seattle) each with a velcro closing strap. I love that it comes with a little pouch to capture any run-off water versus dripping water over the floors. This is my second umbrella of this sort. Luckily, I lost the first versus having it break. Sturdy and reasonably priced.

Solid umbrella but not male boredom proof. I got this for my girlfriend and she's been using it a lot lately due to all the Texas rains. One day though, I got bored while she was trying on cloths at the store and I was messing with it... you know, pushing the button and watching it eject, then sliding it back down (like a child). well I did it one too many times and it stopped sliding back down. Then I went further by trying to force it down. Next thing I know, I've damanged the plastic ring that keeps it from sliding off the rod and now the umbrella ejects completely like a missile when I push the button. Any good wind will remove the top from the rod now. For what it's worth, I take complete responsibility and the umbrella was very functional and solid before my time with it.

I live in the Pacific Northwest where it rains a lot and is windy during storms. I have had a "windproof" umbrella for years that eventually wore out and wanted a new one, but one that was more compact than my old one. This is very nice. It isn't as compact as I expected, but will still be easier to carry than the old one. It folds up to about 16 1/2 inches and will fit in my personal shopping bag when I take the bus downtown. When it pops open it is a full sized umbrella. Though I haven't used it yet, it appears to be sturdy and easy to open and close. It will be interesting to see if it is truly "windproof" like my old one.

Love the design and feels very sturdy. As it opens by the touch of a button I am curious to see how well this holds up in the long run. But if the quality holds up I will be very happy. It has two wrap around Velcro closures too, which I am happy about as I hate those snap closures. Not super easy to get back in to the sleeve, but it does go in after you fiddle with it for a minute. Wish the sleeve had a handle to dangle it from a hook, but still nice.

It thinks is a large umbrella, it is for a travel size Easy to deploy with one hand. I think the auto close feature is a misprint, this umbrella does not fold and put itself away. Good sturdy construction, high quality fabric, easily stored in my computer bag and passed through TSA three times - no issues. I have used it in a Florida downpour, Atlanta downtown rain with swirling winds and a Oregon shower. Works perfect everytime.

We purchased several of these umbrellas about 5 years ago and have carried them regularly since then. They are compact but sturdy and stand up to rainy weather very well. One of them ended up getting jammed, which bent the main shaft and made it impossible to open, so it had to be replaced. There was no question which umbrella we'd choose. It's a good buy compared to other outlets, too.

I bought this umbrella for my mom because all the ones I've bought before (all brands) always flip up and break, no exceptions. I was excited about getting her this umbrella as part of her Christmas gift so that she would finally have a sturdy, reliable umbrella that would not break so easily if there was wind. Today was the 3rd time she used the umbrella, and the first time it was windy. At the first gust of wind, the umbrella flipped up, my mother and son got drenched and one of the metal spokes broke out of it's hinge. Not reliable, not sturdy, not any better than any other umbrella I've bought and now after less then 90 days and 3 uses it's broken. I am disappointed because I was relying on the Samsonite brand and was expecting this to really work. Also, the button on the umbrella is a little hard to close. For an older person trying to close an umbrella while getting in the car, you get soaked from the rain because of the difficulty closing I think I would have gotten more use from a cheaper umbrella at a discount store. Not a strong product at all :(

These umbrellas are sturdy and you can feel the build quality immediately. Work well, even when very windy and pack down to a small size.

En una distancia de la oficina a la casa que no es mayor a 10 minutos a paso normal. Mis impresiones: 1.- Tamaño (8/10) 2.- Cobertura (8/10) 3.- Durabilidad (10/10) 4.- Función corta viento (10/10) 5.- Sistema apertura (10/10) 6.- Comodidad al usarlo (9/10) Tiene un tamaño que considero pequeño lo cual lo hace muy cómodo para meterlo en un bolso de laptop, no va a ocupar mucho espacio ni va a molestar. El botón de apertura hace su trabajo perfectamente y cuando se extiende es una sorpresa agradable el radio de cobertura que tiene, para el tamaño expande bastante (Anexe fotos con objetos al lado para que se aprecie las dimensiones). Te va a cubrir perfectamente de una lluvia medio fuerte. Si es una lluvia fuerte entonces puedes sentir el rocío del agua. Si estás pensando en algo que te funcione para caminar tiempos largos en lluvias fuertes y no sentir rocíos entonces mi recomendación es invertir en uno de esos que son gigantes. Material muy bueno, me ha sucedido que le he pegado a un arbusto o alguno que otro techo bajo en la calle y no muestra signo de deterioro. El sistema corta viento me funciona muy bien hasta ahora y no permite que filtre agua por las capas. No lo he sacado a probar en una tormenta aún sin embargo en lluvias con viento un poco fuerte se mantiene firme sin mayor movimiento en mi mano. Por último siento que es bastante ligero así que no cansa, más allá del hecho de llevar un paraguas en la mano mientras caminas bajo una lluvia lo puede hacer.

I first needed to use this umbrella yesterday September 30th on my birthday. It broke :-( One of the spokes came apart. The last day for return was 23rd September 21 and there appeared to be no other avenue for replacing it. It was an expensive investment so you may well understand my immense disappointment. I am sure this must be a one off incident as the umbrella is otherwise very strong and sturdy. So pleased to report that I requested a call back from Amazon which was instant and they refunded the cost of the item so I can order another. :-) <3

After using this umbrella for several years, I want to change my review and change 2 stars to 5+ stars. This umbrella is very practical and sturdy, I am still using it, it is well made, it deserves 5 stars!
