How long does it last after opened? I am the only person in my house hold who likes/makes miso soup.

Food safety engineers will love this: When we lived in Japan and had a miso sales man come to our door and give his pitch for his miso, he told me that it grows mold, just mix it in. He said I could store it at room temp. When I was a little girl and my grandmother made miso from scratch i remember mold growing on it! Ha ha. All true. So we ended up buying that miso that the guy sold and it didn't grow mold that I could see. It was a large tub so I couldn't store it in the fridge b/c of space economy. Now that we live in the States, I store my miso in the fridge and don't at all worry about it going bad of years! What I love about miso is that it is one of the few ways one can eat soybeans more safely with recent research. Soy has different concerns for health troubles. But fermented soy is totally different. Tempeh (Indonesian) is also fermented. So your miso in your fridge will last long!

How is this shipped (cold)? Our deliveries dont arrive til late evening, so I'm concerned about it remaining in a hot truck all day.

I live in the desert, and it arrived hot, melted and up against one side. But it's sealed. Not sure how much the heat might affect the flavor since I haven't had this one before. But yea, it's shipped in a box with some bubble wrap.

Is it nonGMO, & non MSG?

according to the label it is both non-gmo & has no msg. I know I'm posting this close to a year after the question was asked, and the picture may have changed since then.

Good soup, good soup

Really delicious miso soup! However, if you follow the packaging instructions, the soup is still pretty watery without much flavor. I used double the amount and that was pretty good. The shelf life is pretty good, I keep mine on a lower shelf in the fridge and its still good. I recommend adding seaweed to your soup while it is boiling to give it a more savory flavor.

Delicious

This is super easy to make and tastes great. I’m happy to have a healthy option to share with my grandson who also enjoys this broth. Just heat gently, no boiling to get the maximum benefit. I’m making it to take to work this week.
