RMS 5-Piece Hip & Knee Kit with 32" Reacher Grabber

I would recommend this to anyone who needs assistance for whatever reason. This shouldn't be only relegated to the post surgical or geriactric group. This kit can easily be used for so many things around the house by anyone. I worried that this would be cheap quality, but it proved itself to be very durable and well made. I used everything but the sponge post hip surgery. The shoe horn to help me put on pants, tall boots that were snug to slip on, and hook shoes off the floor with it's handle. I kept the pants dressing stick next to me during the day to hook things and drag them to me instead of trying to go get them. The hook is sturdily mounted in the stick so I could even drag my small table covered in supplies to me without the hook pulling out. The sock aid actually works! It wasn't perfect, but it would get the sock up and at least around the heal. I could use the other tools to pull it up higher. But the best item is the extended gripping stick. It offers a fine dexterity that can pick up even tiny items yet it is strong enough to pick up shoes and cans. 'll use that long after this surgery to pick up items that drop behind the washing machine or in other tight places. The only item I didn't use yet is the sponge, but I may use that to help wash windows or my car. All in all one of the top things to have especially post surgery. Excellent!

This is an excellent value. Each of the tools included are very well made and extremely useful when you are recovering from Hip surgery. Can't speak to knee as I have not done that but expect patient limitations are similar. Difficult to bend down and pick something up the grabber or dressing hook works perfectly. Difficuting putting on socks, the sock aid is a dream. Very high quality and will handle the tension of most socks including short compression socks. For me I already had a sock butler for knee high socks and wanted the dressing hook for help in taking them off by myself, without recruiting a family member. Happy to report the dressing hook will help you take off a full knee length compression sock. Believe me, it's a big deal when you want to be in control of when to wear or take off those puppies. If they start to hurt you want them off. Not always easy when you have to wait for someone to come home and help you. RMS has created an excellent value product here cheaper than the items purchased separately. A must have if surgery/rehab is in your future.

I am two weeks out from the replacement and all but one product are working better than expected, the grabber is a great tool that has me picking up every thing from socks to newspapers that drop the floor, the dressing tool was a big surprise, work with it, helpful for putting on shorts, pulling up socks and getting into shoes that have elastic laces, the shoe horn makes sliding into those shoes easy pezy, the big ole blue sponge is ok but a little floppy, just back of on the pressure, the sock aide two weeks out and it failed this morning, the friction pad on the back tore off even after hot glueing for added security, Oh if you are a male with a shoe size larger then 12 D then consider a wider sock aide, getting my 14’s little toe past the knot and into the barrel of the device was a daily exercise. It’s a great kit that makes the hip replacement recovery a whole lot easier.

I've used most of the items in this kit after my back surgery 2 weeks ago. I can't bend, lift or twist for 3 months. My favorite item in the kit is the grabber! It works awesome! I have used it for laundry, picking up things I've dropped on the floor, picking up & putting down my pet food dishes, & helping in putting on pants, etc. The long shoe horn is also super helpful in putting on my tennis shoes. It's the perfect length. I am using the long handle sponge in the shower but wish it was more of a loofah. The sponge is kind of slippery. Maybe it's just my personal preference. I haven't used the sock helper yet since I mainly wear short ankle socks. When it gets colder and the need arises, I'll be ready. I saw it demonstrated at the hospital and it is super helpful! The final item is supposed to help in putting on clothes but I haven't needed to use it yet. I'm sure it'll come in handy at some point. Overall, I highly recommend this kit!

Very well thought out for helping after hip surgery. One suggestion for the company is to make the grabber able to hook over my walker! The other hook gadget has a hook that stays on my walker and comes in very handy for everything except picking up a few things that the hook can't quite manage. I use the hook to get clothes and socks off and then to pick those up from the floor. The grabber has to stay by my bed to reach for things since i can't attach it to the walker. The sock putter-on thing is a great idea! The bath sponge is useless - it needs an extra 2" on the handle and a FIRM handle, not wimpy plastic. I couldn't wash my legs and feet because the handle was too soft to press. The shoe horn is also helpful, but too short. The package was well planned and has made me much more independent. A brilliant idea - thanks to the sellers!!

I had a full hip replacement and it was recommended that I order this kit. WOW! This gave me some degree of independence (my limit was what I could do--not a limit due to these items) and I quickly became thankful I had these items. The sponge on a stick was helpful since I could not reach my legs to clean them in the first few days of my surgery. Simple? Yes! Worked great and gave me some independence as well. I did not wear shoes much (work from home) but when I needed the extended shoe horn, it works every time. I'm still using it and will likely continue for a while more (surgery was 6 weeks ago). I'm impressed with its sturdiness. The grabber is just fun! When I could not bend, I could pick up items so again I didn't need to ask someone to do it. I used it a lot as I was dressing and undressing. The clothing stick was amazing. I was not thinking I would use it, but quickly realized it helped me dress, undress, and then pick up the clothes off the floor. I used it heavily for the first 5 to 6 weeks after surgery (I am in week 7 now). I would guess if your back was sore, this would be something that would be useful! I tried to use the sock tool but continued to fail. I believe that is because I wear compression socks that are REALLY tight. The tool worked great, but getting the sock pulled up was hard (but it is always hard to put on the compression socks). I researched how to use it a lot and it appears that most people were using the tool for non-compression socks--so for the vast majority of people this probably works well and would be very useful even after you are back to normal! This package of tools was a life saver in my recovery. I would ask for help so much during those early days of recovery. These tools allowed me to do a good deal of things "all by myself [said in a 3-year-old voice!]". I was surprised how much I could do thanks to these tools!

I had my hip replaced 5 weeks ago. I like to be prepared so I bought a few things prior to surgery, including this hip kit, a gel hip cooling pack, and a wedge pillow to elevate leg. Here's my takeaway: --The hospital gave me a gel cooling pack which was better than the one I bought on Amzn. --The wedge pillow is great and very much needed. --This hip kit has 2 excellent items and 3 unnecessary items. The 2 items I couldn't live without are the giant shoe horn and the sock puller upper. That sock puller upper is a marvel of simplistic problem solving.... an impressive invention. As for the other 3 items, totally unneeded. I spose I could have used the sponge-on-a-stick to try and scrub the bottom of my foot, but didn't. The reacher and the clothes hook thing never came out of the bag because I have arms. If you don't have arms then they're going to be impossible to use anyway. --Final advice: be prepared for your leg and foot to balloon up to twice its normal size ~4 days after surgery. 5 weeks later mine are still gigantic. That's the worst part of the whole procedure.

I had severe hip pain and immobility and had to wait five months for my surgery due to scheduling and illness. I eventually used this kit several months prior to my surgery. 1: The sock assist was very helpful. I could not bend over pre and post surgery. It was easy to apply my daily socks pre surgery. There are many comments out there saying this does not work with post surgery compression socks. I am 5ft tall, wore medium 20-30 thigh highs and it worked perfectly. I felt so much more independent when I could do this myself and you have to wear them during the day for 4weeks! Some say the sock bends the plastic too much so it’s hard to insert your foot but that was not a problem for me. 2: The grabber was probably the most important tool in the kit for me pre and especially post surgery when you cannot put your hands past you knees. You don’t realize how often you drop things. Occupational therapist said to buy several dollar ones and have them in every room which helps instead of carrying one around. You do need a couple good ones. This one I used by my chair in living room and used it frequently. I also bought a 40” EZ Reacher with suction cups and this can pick up the heaviest things: dog dish, cans, books. 3: The tool that has the two different hooks on each end worked great in the bathroom to get dressed and undressed and worked especially well to take off my compression socks. 4: You need to wear supportive shoes after surgery and the shoe horn worked great. Again you don’t realize how many times you put your hand down to adjust a shoe 5: The sponge attachment for bathing I found awkward. The sponge seemed too big and didn’t conform to my legs and it was too thick to press down and scrub. I also scratched my self with the plastic where it goes into the sponge. I will maybe use it to scrub something else, like the shower. I have the Bendable+Reach Lotion Applicator and I am going to buy the loofah attachment for that. Finally I am in my 70s and have generalized osteoarthritis, especially bad in my spine. I see me using these tools in the future. And I already plan to use my grabbers in the yard instead of bending over all the time to pick things up.

Sock aid won’t work it’s to big socks won’t stretch that far. The grabber is very light weight maybe it will work . I think it’s to expensive for what you are getting .
