AC is back up and running. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent *by V***N on August 10, 2026* High quality ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Longevity uncertain, but these appear to be working well. *by -***- on July 9, 2024* We hvae the same AC compressor on two vehicles here, and as luck would have it, we had one of them fail back in mid April, and the other just two weeks ago during our hot/humid streak of weather. (Thankfully we have a spare car with AC!) Installing these was a little bit tricky but, on a third generation CR-V, the clutches can be replaced by unmounting the compressor and repositioning it to sit at an angle where you can reach it from beneath the vehicle. Unmounting and repositioning the compressor actually takes a lot longer than replacing the clutch! While you can do most of the work with a metric socket set and extensions, you may also need a 3-jaw puller to get the pulley off. You will, however, need long Circlip pliers to get the two retaining rings out of the center of the compressor (which old the pulley and coil on). For both replacements, I ended up using only one of the shims. (You will need a feeler gauge to check the gap between the armature and pulley.) As our issue with these compressors was the coil failing (a repeat of the same issue we had with these in 2017 and 2018), the AC clutch coil relay is most likely burned out as well. Just replace it. I bought a WVE (NTK) relay, part number 1R2085, for about $9. BUT if you have something other than a third-gen CR-V (2007-2011), you will need to look up the correct relay part number before ordering. The dealer quoted $1,950 to replace the AC compressor (up from the $1,060 we paid in 2018!!). For $70 each in parts (this clutch/coil kit, plus the relay), I had both vehicles back on the road with an afternoon's worth of work.
