P.O.S. - do not purchase it!
Well, I went for the cheap one, and I shouldn't have. It should be called "Easycr*p." I've got good technical skills and figured I'd have a go with this one, see how cheaply I could convert my old home videos to digital. I did a bit of research on this notorious device prior to purchasing, and did so with some trepidation, oh well. Complete FAIL!After I wasted a day proving to myself that it was junk, I had learned far more about the "easycap" device. There is no such company. There is no company name on the product packaging. There is no such trademark. This is a family of ever cheaper ripoff devices being pumped into the world out of one or more Chinese factories. If you are unfortunate, you will follow the same route as hundreds of others who've been burned by it. There is a very helpful website out there, I don't think Amazon will let me paste URLs here but if you google "EasyCapExpertti" you should find it. It's probably the best repository of info on this sham on the web, and he has a full collection of drivers for the various (ever cheaper) chipsets the manufacturer(s) are using to make these things. Apparently some of the earlier ones weren't so horrible. Mine (purchased 3-25-13) turned out to have the '007' chipset, the most notoriously awful version, which it turns out doesn't even bother to include audio hardware on the board. Oh there are audio input plugs, but apparently, they don't do anything, or you have to use a software workaround to capture audio with this particular chipset, assuming your software is sufficiently robust to support that.I ended up taking a chance buying something similar here, the "AVerMedia DVD EZMaker 7." It only cost me about $20 more than this "EasyCR*P" device, but it works 100%. AVerMedia is a real company, a trademarked brand, and they offer a wide array of similar hardware which is all well supported on their website including offering their SDK if you're into serious tinkering. That is why I took the chance and went for it, and I am so happy I did. It worked right off the bat with zero glitches, so I have no hesitation at all in encouraging people to go buy that device instead of this one. I just can not say it enough, how much this thing sucks. I really resent manufacturers knowingly selling trash, and I am going to follow this review up with a note to Amazon (who I greatly admire and trust!) about continuing to sell this junk, it isn't doing anything for their reputation as a retailer.

i dislike the ulead software included
the ulead software bundled with this adpater is bloated to me. it takes too long to load and it has features that i do not need. also the ulead software does not remember some of the settings for recording and the preferences that you choose for the software. my pc has a single core processor running at 1.6 ghz and when recording i cannot do anything else with the pc if i try to do something else the pc drops frames. i record using dvd as the output at 5000kbps and 720x480 for the resolution with mp3 as the output file for audio at 64 kpbs,2 channels and 48 khz for the sampling rate. when using those settings my cpu usage goes up to a range of between 70% to 80%. if i use any settings higher than that the pc drops frames and cpu usage goes up to a range of 90% to 100%. make sure that you shutdown any processes that could increase the cpu usage before using the easycap if you have a single core processor running at 1.6ghz or less,if you decide to use the settings that i use. the quality of the files are pretty good for those settings. the images are slightly softer,the saturation of the colors are slightly lost and their is a slight blur to some of the words on the screen.but the downside to using dvd as the output is that the files are large. a one hour program will be 1.89 gigabytes in size. a 1.6ghz or slower single core processor cannot handle compressing a file while using decent settings if you are looking to use avi as the output. the cpu usage is too high you will drop frames and the audio will be out of sync.

It Was Just OK.
I had many problems installing this software, I am using Vista Windows 7, And Windows told me the drivers did not install properly. I installed the software, and the system kept locking up, I played with it for about 1 hour, and nothing would fix the lockups, I Also Did not See the device in the program, it did however see my webcam. So I uninstalled the software, unplugged my webcam, and removed the device. Plugging in the device again made windows search for a driver. again windows failed to install any drivers. I then re-installed the software and it worked that time. this was after 2 hours trying many options and selections, plugging in and removing the device.Now that it was working, I tried converting A VHS Tape the movie is called "Torpedo Run, 1958, 1:36 Color", I Know for a fact It has been encoded using 'Macrovision' protection. Since it told me it did when I tried to go VHS, to DVD Directly. So I Bought This Device In Hopes I Could Save This Tape From The Trash Bin. This great Movie Was Never Re-Released On DVD.Because Of All The Problems I Had Installing The Software, I Am Only Giving It 3 Stars.

Easycap DC60+ / DC-60+ New Version 3.2A USB Grabber Video Capture {Mac}
After much research I found there are two versions of this capture device. There is the DC60 version and the "Easycap DC60+ / DC-60+ New Version 3.2A USB Grabber Video Capture"; which is is recommended for Mac Computers. A great problem arrises in the packaging of this product, which does not differentiate between the older DC60 and the DC60+ model. I returned one purchase because of this discrepancy. Then I emailed a second seller to be sure they would send the DC60+. Their reply was that they will send the DC60+ unit. Upon receipt of the second unit, it was the same as the former unit returned. I think the software in the package has been updated for DC60+, but the manufacturer has not so identified their product.Until I eventually use this product it is a "buyer beware" gamble that I actually have the DC60+ package. I surmise to check out the software which should be "New Version 3.2A".
