I was hesitant when I bought these paints for the first time because the price was higher than that of other, lesser quality paints, however, after using them for the first time I quickly understood what made them so special. The qualityof the richness and blendability is exceptional and they are so easy to use. I like the size of the half pans and the color variety is perfect for my little studio. I loved these so much I purchased more and now have more on the way! Definitely worth the money!

I absolutely love Daniel Smith watercolors. They are the best professional quality of watercolor paints I own. They wet easily, flow easily from a watercolor brush, blend easily and easily a fantastic value. I loved that the large variety of colors in this set came in half pans inside a metal case. The cases are very sturdy and hold up extremely well. Whether using small 5ml tubes of paint, half pans of paint or paint from the largest 15ml tubes, painting with Daniel Smith watercolors is a very big pleasure and I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a wide assortment of professional grade watercolors. I also love the sample dot cards have dots of actual watercolor applied to watercolor paper and allowed to dry and be shipped to customers to try samples of this watercolor paint. A little of this paint goes a very, very long way.

Professional quality and beautiful.

I am fairly new at watercolor and these paints are very creamy and easy to work with. They’re a more opaque paint than Winsor Newton so keep that in mind. The price is reasonable for artist grade paint. Vibrant colors. Many colors to choose from in pallet. I would highly recommend. Very fast delivery.

I'm new to watercolor, but followed guidance that said good paints made all the difference. And I was so glad to find this 50% off. I never could have afforded full price. They are beautiful colors and working with them is great! However, the box, which is plastic, was shut too tightly and when I finally got it opened, it jumped up and half of the paints flew out. So for now, as a newbie, I have to guess on my blues and reds as to which one is which. The colors on the box don't quite match, so I'm not sure. I figure I'll get them named correctly once I learn more. But it would've been nice for that to not have happened.

Best watercolor palette

The palettes are great! I was looking for something that could go hiking with me and these will NOT pop open on accident. The mix of colors is the real star, though. They are a fantastic toolbox to get started with, or even add to an existing collection. If you've never used Daniel Smith watercolors before they are incredible. Most of this palette is heavy on its ability to dye, but there's a few that are granulating as well. The included empty palette is a sirens song - I filled mine with more Daniel Smith combinations, the Primatek sampler set especially. They are not cheap watercolors but wow do you get what you paid for. The only other brands I can think of that compare are Winsor & Newton's professional line (not the Cotman line), and Roswell for their cool pigment sources - and Daniel Smith remains my favorite of the three. I highly recommend treating yourself, if you've never used the highest quality of water colors you will be blown away by the difference between something like Crayola, Arteza, the Cotman line, and this.
