I made my boy happy again!!!
I used these clippers the day that I received them, and with the built in LED light, it made my job so much easier!!! I was able to see the bloodline clearly, since I didn't want to cause my boy (Sam) any pain!!! I didn't use the foldaway clipping holder, but it is a good idea for smaller dogs!!! Good purchase for the price!!!

We have had dogs (and cats) for 60+ years. We have trimmed a lot of dog nails in that time. What weâve learned is to have good, sharp instruments that fit well in your hand, and allow you to do it quickly, neatly without pain or upset to your animal. (If the clippers arenât sharp, they MUST BE sharpened or buy new ones!) I found this particular clipper were reviewing to be lacking. The nail stop is unnecessary. It just gets in the way.I also found the handles were too big and oversized. I have a big hand, but I found them awkward and bulky. The sharpness was good. HINT: if youâre lucky and your pet has clear or white nails get a small light. A LED penlight or a keychain light is perfect! Small and concentrated light. Have a Sharply marking pen and with the light against the nail, look on the opposite side and youâll see the image of the âpink quickâ thru the nail! Then take your marker and draw a line at the very tip of the quick, showing how far to cut without drawing blood and the resulting pain. Make it all a game with your pet. Always have a LOT of tiny, tasty treats, and pet them and reassure them with your voice! All critters are sensitive about their paws and their muzzles. So give them lots of love and try to bribe them with those treats. Examples: Small bits of hot dogs - Cut into 1/4 or 1/2 inch pieces. Or crumble several pieces of bacon into tiny pieces. Or cooked & cooled liver! Maybe your dogs like some of the commercial treats? Just be sure to cut them into tiny pieces. Dogs taste with their nose. And gobble with their mouth, so size isnât as important as something thatâs fragrant, like liver. No dog will ever turn down Liver! So now you have treats, youâve marked the maximum cut line, itâs time to clip. Itâs best to have a helper to restrain the dog as theyâll be nervous, but have your helper feed then treats and keep them in place as you grab a paw and quickly clip a nail. Do that 8 or 10 times & youâre done. NEVER start unless you have what we call âStop Leakâ. Which is just Septic Powder. I dip the mail into it and it clings. I press on it for half a minute while it constricts the vessels, while giving the dog numerous treats to distract them as the septic does sting at first. A few treats will do it. When youâre finished play with your dog! Itâs more important than cleaning up. Let them know that it wasnât a punishment that you didnât mean to cause some harm and give them more treats! Dance around and be crazy make your dog jump and wonder why youâre being so Nutty! You have to do things in an exaggerated way so they can understand clearly that youâre happy - and thus they will be happy too! And remember dogs usually donât hold a grudge and just be sure you give them lots of love and affection and of course, fun and play! Now, if your dog has those black nails, you just have to proceed very carefully! You have to trim itsy-bitsy slices of mail until you come to where are you think the quick is. When you look carefully at the cut nail, the very extreme tip of the nail will appear as a tiny red or pink dot - as it gets thinner and thinner until it is no more. Once you get to the tiny red or pink dot, STOP đ. Itâs showing you that youâre at the blood vessel and need to stop. If you go further, there will be blood! Black nails just mean you have to cut more carefully with accuracy. Finally, if youâre NOT UP TO TASK, donât do it! Some dogs are timid and itâs not worth hurting them and making them afraid of you!GO TO A VETERINARIAN. Theyâll gladly do it for you quickly & efficiently. And when they bring your dog back to you, they are so glad to see you, and you can take them away and be the hero! Plan ahead and have a small baggie with some of those fragrant treats inside so that you can buddy up with your pal when you get back out to the car!

Game changer!
Iâve had these for about a year and a half they are great! Been so much easier cutting my small dogs nails and makes it easier when you can see where not to cut. They still work great. Happy with this purchase.

Almost great but not quite & not quiet
These clippers were great in almost every aspect, but they have one deal breaker for our family & probably a lot of other families. The clippers were sharp. The handles were a a good size, well spaced, & easy to use even for my arthritic hands. The light was placed correctly so it illuminates the nail without blinding the user. It even catches the nails. Ours arrived with a faulty catch for closing that worked only if just so but that wasnât the deal breaking issue. So what was the problem with these otherwise near perfect nail clippers? The very, very loud click sound that the plastic makes after each nail is trimmed. When I just got it out of the package & manipulated it to get the feel of it, I didnât realize it would be that loud. Unfortunately I tried it first on my sound sensitive dog because she volunteered for grooming. After the very loud click on the first & only nail, she twisted & jerked her paw back out of my hand that was holding her paw so fast & hard that she got an ankle sprain. She immediately ran several feet away & began shaking. I had to give her a tranquilizer to calm her because she was too stressed to accept treats & was still shaking over 10 minutes later. Thank God I didnât have her tethered or on a grooming table because she would probably have been seriously injured or put at great risk.A couple of days later after giving her a calming treat an hour in advance & then giving a favorite treat to distract her, I tried using the clippers on another dog while she was on the other side of the room with the TV on a distracting show. As soon as I cut one nail on the other dog, she bolted & tried to knock over the pet gate to run upstairs. This is not usual for her. I waited until later & got my husband to take her upstairs. Then I cut two more nails on the other dog, which is how I know the clippers are so close to great. However, my husband said that even upstairs she jumped after each click.Dear manufacturer this could so easily be remedied with a silicone or soft plastic bumper between the handles. This one minor modification would make these nail clippers truly great. Honestly they would close to perfect. If you fixed this one issue I would definitely buy these again & would recommend them to all my dog owning friends. However, for now the search for great nail clippers continues. Sigh.

Works Great on big dogs!
I have 2 Great Danes and a Weim and this is a lifesaver! Maybe that exaggerates them but for sure a furniture saver! One of my Danes nails grow straight out in a weird way and these clippers are easy to use and do not scare her. The light is so awesome and makes me feel comfortable that Iâm not cutting her nails too short and into the quick. The Weim is a Weim so little crazy there but again he isnât super scared by these clippers. The light is beyond awesome to have because his nails are a little darker than the Danes.I would highly recommended these clippers. My couch isnât getting shredded by nails anymore and Iâm not getting all scratched up by their nails either! The only thing that could improve on these would be to add a little magnifying glass⊠but Iâm still giving them 5 stars⊠wearing my glasses to clip the nails isnât a horrible thing.

My dog moved right as I push it. I nipped his nail to close. He squealed onceâŠit bled for a minute. I cried for hours. My dog has requested we donât do that anymore. Request granted. This is not to say these are poor qualityâŠ.because they work!

Best purchase I've ever made (besides the dog of course)
If your dog has black nails then you know what a struggle it can be cutting them at home. I'm lucky enough that Zeppelin TOLERATES it, that is until I accidentally cut a quik. Long story short I've been trying to cut his nails short over a period time and it's been a struggle. My main issue is that I wasn't getting close enough to the quik each time in order for it to shrink back because I was too scared of cutting him-thus making very little progress. These have single handily solved that issue. I am able to cut right to the quik as the light acts as a guide, and in a couple of weeks his nails are short. I only need to maintain them now and let's just say we are both happy đJust some pros- It has a good blade that doesn't crumple his nails like some of the others that I have tried which is a bonus!- Rechargeable- Easy to handle/maneuver- Super fast shippingThe only thing that doesn't really do much for me is the nail catcher/holder. His nails are super large so it would fill up after one clipping so I just keep it open.

Muy bueno
Tengo una Akita americano, le corta las uñas con facilidad. Si hay que ejercer un poco e fuerza pero no demasiado, la luz ayuda mucho, se siente resistente. Y para raza grande si funciona

LED light shows the quick - no more accidents when trimming
Love this! The LED light illuminates the quick of my cats nails. I know exactly where I can cut, which has removed the stress for myself and the cats. The container doesn't catch all the nails but that could be the way I'm holding it and is not the reason I bought this. Definitely worth the price!
