Fun advent calendar for my 6 year old son!
My son doesn't like candy (I know right? who doesn't like candy?!), so every year picking an advent calendar for him is a challenge. We have done the Thomas the train one (when he was 3), we have done Paw Patrol toys, Disney ones, but at 6, he is no longer interested in little "toys" anymore, and due to Covid, I did not have the chance to collect things to make my own advent calendar for him, so even though this product says it's for 8 and older, I decided to give it a try.My husband usually does it with him so I think it's perfect even though he can't quite read the instructions yet or do it by himself. It's their bonding time together (yes, give mama a break! and honestly I think my husband really enjoys it). We are 14 days into it, and while some of the experiments are okay, some are really fun. Each box after you opened it can be flipped and put back into the box and at the end of the 24 days will turn the board turn into a board game. Obviously we're not quite there yet, but so far I am very pleased with the experiments included. Each day's kit take about 2-5 minutes to complete so it's not like those science kit that get a little overwhelming.I would recommend others to start looking into buying around October though, which is around the time we purchased it. Otherwise I see the price of these advent calendars skyrocket around November. It's ridiculous. Overall I would recommend this to any family with a kid who likes science experiments (and since most things we just throw away at the end there is no hording of little toys that will never get played with again).

Great for 12 yr old budding scientist!
I bought this advent calendar for my 12 year old son who likes science but would have much preferred an advent calendar with chocolate. But I resisted and got this. He was reluctant at first, but now he gets straight to the experiments in this calendar each day. The whole thing has been so well thought out and wonderfully presented. The experiments are fun and do-able at home in about 10 minutes or less (sometimes with a little parent help). There's a great booklet that goes with the activities and provides the instructions as well as scientific explanations and background information. Overall, I highly recommend.

Happy I purchased this
I purchased this for my 11 yr old son. Honestly, when I showed it to him he was not excited at all. I had to prod him into opening the first day but after that he was hooked. He looks forward to each day's experiments. I do wish there was more of a quick explanation of what they were trying to teach. So if you desire your loved one to learn the concept of the experiments they must do it with someone that has minimal science experience (under thing like surface tension, chemical reactions, etc.). That being said the experiments are easy enough for my 11 yr old to figure out, just not the concept. Overall I'm very pleased with my purchase and thought the vault was excellent.

Fun, but be patient
25 distinct experiments to countdown your December. The box comes with 25 smaller boxes, each containing pieces of an experiment. The most valuable part of this item is the book. The book includes all the information and instructions you need for the experiments, along with the science behind what is happening. Each day in the book will include instructions on how to do additional experiments using the same principles. It is important to know that most of the experiments require additional pieces beyond what is in the box, some of the extra pieces are a bit outside of the normal bits you may have around home. I did find it a bit frustrating to see how many of the experiments require extra items and it is not clear that you will need to reuse pieces from the previous days later on. It is still a fun gift for the science minded.

Looks great, but kids might be disappointed
This looks great and builds excitement, but the actual box content is (so far) very light. Day one is a major disappointment as it’s 100% printed paper that has to be cut and glued. You have to add your own small figures and you need two identical ones.Day two is a single plastic pipette. You have to add a Lego block, coin, dish liquid and a plate. Which is fine, but there’s no wow factor when they open the boxes. My kid is 10 and loves science, so he’s interested, but he’s not excited about his advent calendar, which is a pity.If they started with something cooler, to draw them in, that might make it seem more fun.The booklet that comes with it is great: loads and loads of info, but it’s not small-kid friendly. The instructions are in block text, not bullets and there’s a lot of text.It says age 6 up, but I’d suggest no younger than 8 unless your kid has a superb attention span and is a very fast reader.I love it as it’s focused and the experiments are great, but my kid is just meh.

Nice gift for young learners.
The little boy next door loves science . (he is 6) So I thought it would be a good gift. He enjoyed doing them. The box came with safety glasses and everything he would need.

That it is a quality product that my grandchildren will enjoy
The advent calendars look pretty interesting but I have no idea what they are really like because they are for advent and for my grandchildren and they won't open them for another month. But I really enjoy having a variety of Advent products to choose from. I started doing Advent boxes for my children 38 years ago. It is nice to be able just to buy a calendar with all the items in it now.

Unimpressed
This advent calendar looks amusing and seems like fun, but it was a waste of money for us. It comes with a book of experiments for each day. Many days, you need several other supplies that you may not have on hand. The item that you receive in the box on your advent day tends to be very cheap. And when I say cheap, I will give you an example. My son received a string one day. For that experiment, we needed 2 empty tin cans (we didn't have 2 empty tin cans lying around our house). The 'experiment' was attaching the string to the cans and using them to talk to each other (like a telephone). Some of the experiments are a little more complex, like one day, he got a container of citric acid. But he also needed a satchel of baking soda and an empty bottle to complete the experiment. For $30, I think I could have found something better than this.

Best gift ,smart and fun !
Very well packadged and presented with complete tools and explanations .My 8 year old grand daughter adored it and so did my son, her dad, provided them with exciting after dinner science projects that were completely do-able without big messes and unattainable results. They were just proud of doing it right and learning while having fun!

My kids says it's the BEST advent calendar he's ever had and I'm the best mom for getting it.
My kid loves it. He says it's the BEST advent calendar he's ever had. He loves the learning and doing a new experiment every day and the book that comes with it is great everyday of the year for kids to have fun with science. Makes a great gift. Totally recommend for any gender. Great fun for all, including parents.
