Great Support
women's shoe size 8, ankle measurement 11.5" ordered a size small. was using an elasticized compression device, and it just wasn't making a difference helping to calm the peroneal tendonitis yelling at me from my ankle. THIS device offered marked support and greater relief. I've been wearing it every day. slides easily into my Birkenstocks and I'm pretty confident it'll fit in my barefoot shoes. not at all complicated to use. the laces are wildly long when tied up, but necessary for the fit. once you've slid your foot into the little lace-up nylon boot and tie it up, you can feel the difference. add the cross-over straps....so much better! it's a little fiddly the first time, and you have to completely loosen the laces to remove the "boot," so it isn't a two-second event, but then it isn't even a 30-second event. I'm SO glad I ordered this stabilizer. it, along with isometric exercises, are making a difference!

Second purchase, great support - volleyball
This is the second ASO Ankle Stabilizer brace I've purchased for my daughter who plays elite level volleyball. The braces provide the additional support she needed to take her through hours of training & camp this month. Very pleased. Fits both feet and is comfortable enough to wear for 4-6 hours.

Great ankle brace, that doesn’t affect my Plantar Fasciitis.
I’m recovering from a sprained ankle, and I needed added support to accommodate my semi-active lifestyle. I have severe Plantar Fasciitis, which makes it difficult to wear certain products. I tried multiple ankle support devices (ankle support compression sleeves, ankle support bands, and even changed my shoe insoles to aid in stability). Regardless what product I used, they caused excruciating foot pain, because these products would put direct pressure on the Plantar Fascia. I saw this brace, and it appeared the straps didn’t cause direct pressure the Plantar Fascia. I was correct the straps cross over, and go directly under the heel and come up the sides. The brace does cover a portion of the Plantar Fascia, but doesn’t cause constricting pressure. I would say it provides medium support, and allows adequate movement for some sports. I’m a 8.5 mens shoe size, and the (small) fits excellent. The only issue I’ve found, is a calf-sock is needed under the brace to prevent chafing from the seems, and since the straps run under the heal it can be difficult to put in a tight fitting shoe, which will pull the straps out from under the heel, so I loosen up shoe laces to allow for insertion. I ride a hover board, which puts excessive strain on my ankles, and the occasional spontaneous dismount can be tragic for my ankles, so I ordered a second for the other foot out of precaution.

Comfortable and support in the right ways.
First of all I recieved this in record time. 48 hours to Southern California. I have played soccer for over 10+ years, rugby for 4+ years, basketball for 8+ years and ran track and field for 8+ years. For the first time ever, while playing basketball, I sprained my ankle. Grade 2. Partially torn ligaments. Its been two weeks and I still can't walk with a normal stride. I am ordering this so that I have support while I walk around during my daily activities. This is the first brace I have ever tried or ever worn. Size: I wear a size 9 shoe and 13 inch ankle measured around the heel. I fell within the small or medium size according to the sizing chart. I played it safe and and went with a small. The small is a great fit. Its really snug and I'm sure if someone's foot was a little too big for the small, this brace could accommodate. Also, this fits into my shoe no problem. Fit/Support: The first thing I noticed is that the middle of the laces are stitched onto the front part of the brace. This will help keep the laces even and help keep things lined up. I laced up the brace and this first layer of protection is pretty firm and comfortable. This lace up part of the brace prevents over flexing your foot up towards the sky and down to the ground. I wanted to restrict the most movement as possible of my foot and laced them pretty tight. The figure 8 straps are where the real support comes in. The straps reinforce the up/down resistance that is originally provided for by the lace up part of the brace. The velcro on the side for the straps is on the brace in a way that helps you align the straps to the proper position and same way every time (just like what stitching the laces onto the brace will do). Not only do these straps greatly reinforce the up/down resistance, because of the way the straps wrap around your foot and back to the same side, these straps will work to resist the "rolling" or eversion/ inversion action that leads sprains. Then to top it off there is a final strap that wraps around the top of your ankle above the ankle bones... the "high" ankle area. This strap gives good compression as the other two parts of the brace does. It also secures the laces so nothing gets loose. Range of motion: When sitting, with no shoes on, with my foot flat on the ground, with brace as tight as possible, while not cutting off circulation, the brace limits heel from rising to about 1/3 the distance off the ground compared to my other foot. Again, I am still recovering from the sprain so this low range of motion might be due to the sprain. If I loosen everything up the range of motion frees up. The straps still prevent rolling of the ankles however loose the lace up part of the brace is. I can move my foot left and right which is good and the brace does protect from moving the foot left and right too much. All ranges of motion are protected for. Compared to a professional athletic trainer's tape job, this gives less support but more range of motion. Rating: The reason I gave this four stars instead of five is because as a life long athlete I have had to tape my ankles up before and this brace just doesn't give you that total all direction firm security. This brace mimics when athletic trainers tape the ankle in a lot of ways, the lace up part of the brace mimics the base layer of ankle taping and the figure 8 straps mimic the tape layer that goes around the heel from outside of your foot to the inside. In my humble opinion, the part of real athletic trainer style tape job that this brace is missing, is the the layer of tape that goes from the middle of your foot, past the heel, then ends at the achilles/ calf. This layer of tape keeps the foot bent at a desired angle. This layer helps keep the heel off the ground and adds resistance to accidentally flexing your foot too far up and jamming the front part of the ankle. Comments: As an ankle brace It provides great support and keeps everything real tight and compressed. I couldn't say how well it compares to other braces. This brace does not fully mimic a real tape job which I suppose is one of its intended purposes. This brace will help to prevent respraining if you heal up to 100% because it adds resistance to the inversion, eversion motions and adds quick support in all the right ways. This brace is way faster than a tape job and for my purpose, the need for extra support while walking around, its awesome. Because it can't fully mimic a tape job (and I don't suppose any brace could), I wouldn't have 100% confidence in this brace to replace a tape job and confidence is everything in sports. TL;DR: Lots of support in a way that will resist ankle sprains. Way faster than taping your ankles up, but not as good. Really comfortable and shipped super fast.

Best ankle brace! (and I've tried many)
This brace is great. I broke my ankle around 6 years ago in a high school lacrosse game, and have had issues with the ankle ever since. I wore various casts for around a year and went to PT for a little while but never did the exercises at home (didn't realize I'd start slowing down a little bit in my twenties lol). My ankle still aches sometimes and it gives out easily and rolls a lot. My doctor said that ankle injuries almost never heal 100%, and you can lose the elasticity of the tendons in your ankle, leaving them perma-wobbly. SO, I need some support when I run. I have tried more minimalistic braces, but they usually don't give the right amount of support. This brace works so well for two reasons: 1. the laces (yes, annoying and less attractive, but it makes all the difference. This also ensures that the brace will be tight enough even if you order one a little too big). 2. The side straps (totally immobilize your ankle to keep it straight and at a 45 degree angle, which is essential for healing). This brace is exactly the same as the one that my doctor gave me after I got out of the casts, so it's practically medical grade. I got the white one because it looks better with my running shoes. I was worried about it getting gross but the box says you can machine wash the brace. I wear a 6.5 women's shoe (U.S.), and I ordered a small. Fits perfectly. The sizing chart on the box is slightly different from the one posted here so I'll include a picture of that. Perfect overall for serious stability. Probably too constricting for someone looking for light or moderate support.

Game Changer for Ankle Support During Basketball Season
We bought these Ankle Stabilizer for our daughter, who plays basketball and has a habit of twisting her ankle. We ended up purchasing two braces, and they have been an absolute lifesaver this season. The support is excellent, snug without being uncomfortable and it really helps stabilize her ankle during practices and games. Since wearing these, she has been able to stay active, confident, and on the court instead of sidelined with repeated ankle issues. They fit well in her basketball shoes and are easy to put on. If your athelete struggles with ankle instability, sprains, or tendon issues, this brace is 100% worth it. 10/10 recommend for keeping kids healthy and playing the sport they love!

Poor design, inaccurate size chart
Inaccurate size chart. Measured my ankle according to instructions, 11.5”, smack dab in small territory. The small I received is way too big. So big that I doubt an xs would be small enough. Even if it fit better around the heel and metacarpals, there is no tailoring for the arch of the foot so no matter what, the bunched up excess fabric has nowhere to go and digs into the skin and makes it painful to stand. And even laced as tight as it will go with straps tightened past the Velcro, my foot can’t move up and down much but it can still freely twist side to side in the way I’m trying to stabilize. This brace is junk not fit for purpose.

still a good product, but quality/durability going downhill
I've been buying ASO ankle braces for 15 years. It's probably the most reliable and supportive brace in the market for all people - those who want support after an injury, those who want to replicate medical tape without the mess, those who need some extra arch support, those who are playing through injury. When they first became widely available on Amazon, it was great, they could be had for as little as $21. But in the post-covid world a few things have happened: 1) They got a lot more expensive. Seems to be found for closer to $30 now 2) The product build/quality control is now terrible. For the 2nd point let me explain. I typically use these braces 3-4x per week for tennis and basketball, ranging from 1-2 hours a session. In the past, each brace would probably last me close to a year before the tightness of the straps started to wane due to wear and tear, they just wouldn't lock as tight and you could tell your ankle could move quite a bit more. There were a few odd things about my last pair. First, even when brand new, they would shed. Unsecuring the velcro for the first time (just to put the brace on), left tiny bits of fabric all over the floor. This, of course would repeat when you took the brace off...and it continued each time you wore it. Second, for the 1st time in 15 years, the brace actually tore at the opening of the foot, which of course, made it unwearable/had to replace. But not only that, I noticed I had lost some shoelace eyelets (the metal rings where your laces go through). This latest pair didn't even last me 6 months. It's still a good functional product, but the build quality/durability is pretty bad now. I just bought a replacement, it's also shedding.

Excellent stabiliser
I have weak ankles and an MCL knee injury. This was recommended to help me get back into the sports I play - football and tennis. So far so good. Really good firm support around the ankle which in turn takes any undue pressure off my knee. I presumed it came as a pair, it's only one! I will likely buy another one. Very good support.
