Pack Leader Collar™ - Training Collar of The Dog Whisperer (Medium, Blue)

I REALLY want one of these for my standard dachshund. Just do not understand how to size it for her. She is a big dachshund (even for a standard). 32-34lbs (not overweight). I HAD TO RETURN THE PRODUCT. :(. It almost fit, but she could slip it. So its a no-go for now.

I apologize to all that shared their bad experiences with these collars: I really should have listened to you! Well, here is my negative experience: The sizing was totally wrong even though I carefully measured our dogs and used the sizing and information guide (which was almost impossible to find on Amazon). For reference, I ordered medium for our catahoula/whippet mix adult dog (the fit was okay but he could have worn small) and large for our lab/hound mix puppy (I don’t think even extra-large would properly fit her). Both collars were shopworn, dirty, covered in pet hair. And one collar had a significant flaw in the stitching, so the mesh lining was coming off. When I tried the medium collar on our catahoula, the flimsy plastic clips did NOT hold securely and opened with the slightest amount of pressure (from me), allowing the collar to slip right off our dog. Please do not waste your time, effort and money - these things are tremendously overpriced, unsafe and poorly made with cheapest materials. I immediately requested a return and refund, thank you Amazon.

Love this. But sizes are a bit werid. My do is in-between a small and a medium. But annoying

Give it a week and you will be happy. At first I thought this collar was not worth the effort to put on my dog. It is! After a week she sits when approached by others on our path. She does not pull. It would be a better choice if it was easier to put on my dog, but the effective response is worth the effort. My Aussie is six years old this is the best teaching tool we have used.

The quality is really good and it does help on walk it just still slips down their necks after a while and I have to push it back up. It does work and helps with the pulling they want to do. Reduces that.

I like what this collar is meant to do - keep the lead high up on the dogs neck, controlling the head. But, in practice the slip rope never stays high enough. It ends up down under the strap, right on my dogs throat, choking him. Maybe it’s my doodle’s long neck? Also, why not use a clip buckle seen on most collars instead of the clamps that make it such a hassle to take on and off? It’s also very expensive. I wish I could return this because it just hasn’t worked for me and my dog. Traditional slip leads have been the better option.

My husband and I are older and have a 2 yr old border collie rescue. He is reactive to anything moving. We got the rope collar first but it was too hard to keep it up on the neck for me because of my bad shoulder. So we tried this and it works perfectly. And just like Caesar shows, the dog walks immediately without pulling just like advertised. No training needed. Our dog needs only a quick tug and release to let him know what not to do. No hurting my shoulders any more , and I don’t have to worry about my cane using husband being on the ground from the dog ‘going nuts’! We needed Ceasar talk saying ‘You are not being mean to your dog, you are just asking him to respect you and others’. Man, woman and dog all happily Walking now!

I bought the medium pack leader collar, which should fit as my dog’s neck is 18 3/4” and the size says 16 - 19” for medium. The medium’s to small. The mesh padding in the collar is stuff and not well padded. I’ve an American Pit Bull and they have a fine fur coat with skin that’s easily damaged. The mesh padding and stiff edging for the collar, for this bred, appears as if it would be uncomfortable, and could rub a sore. I bought Mr Millan’s back pack at size medium and while it fits I’ve worked with better ones, and both his lead and this collar for my dog in size medium need to be in a size larger. The plastic clips to close the collar are smooth without teeth so I doubt they would hold in the closed position with an unruly dog. Just disappointing. One of my cats thought the lead an interesting toy for some reason. It all looks nice, the blue looks good. Too tired and disappointed to try to return the lead and collar.
