It did not attached to the racquet too well so it will come off every so ofter. After a couple hits on the court it stopped working. He decided then to buy a new one (he thought he had broke it) and the new unit was damage as well and it did not charge. This product has some serious qualities issues, it is not sturdy and it malfunctions most of the time. Good idea bad product. Review: Great tool, good idea. App needs work. Sony didnt design the app well. - Bought two of these, the Japanese version and the new US version. Great tool to evaluate your performance and progress. Only issue with the tool - not easy to share your data with your coach or anyone else unless you give them your PSN userid/password. Screen shots do not work as well due to scrolling - you need to take two screen shots. Share icon is there but it brings up the camera for some reason. Another issue - it should have worked with sports cams. Does not work with even the Sony Sports cam. I understand why - I think it is the camera needs to be controlled by the app - I am guessing they are inserting tags within the video stream for shot markers. Unfortunate they did not think of a better way to sync the shot data with the video. Price is a bit steep at $200. Japanese version is $172 including shipping and handling. Works as good with Wilson racquets - comes with the same adapters for racquets. Only difference I see is the manuals are in Japanese - makes no difference. Maybe early production did not have a compatible butt cap, but they should. In this case, discuss with the place you got it. If you have a 2014 or earlier version, you will have to get a compatible butt cap installed, and this will require a new grip for total cost of $15 to $20. Then when you use the sensor, select the 2015 version and it will work great. **Q: Is it compatible with the Wilson RF97 autograph racquet?** A: The sensor will be compatible with the Pro Staff RF97 soon. New racquets being produced by Wilson now will have a new butt cap installed on the racquet, but they have not started shipping those racquets yet. You can purchase the butt cap for the racquet though and have it put on your racquet to use the Sony Smart Sensor. **Q: What part falls off? The adapter or the sensor itself? Because if it's the adapter, I could just glue it to the racquet.** A: Everyone here on staff has a sensor and loves it. We DO NOT have any issues with the sensor falling out. So i do not agree with the comment that these fall out. I have had some occurrences with the sensor falling out and NONE are due to the sensor. They are: 1. Rackets which ARE on the compatible list may still NOT be compatible bc its a model which existed before and after the sensor was created. (for example the Pro Staff 97 line was in production before the sensor and after. There are 2 versions with 2 different butt caps. One version says "smart sensor" and one does not. The older version is not compatible and thus the sensor will fall out even though it appears on the compatibility list.) 2. The sensor comes with 2 different adapters. If you use a Head adapter on the Wilson racket it will fall out and vice versa. 3. The adapters are delicate and if a tiny piece of it breaks off the sensor will not click in properly. Having said that, with proper use the sensor do exactly what they are supposed to do. We have used 10 or so with the staff and have had them before their official release with no problems whatsoever. Same for our customers. I think you will love them and have no problems. :) **Q: On my wilson rf97, after about 8-9 hits, the attachment (with sensor attached) will fly off. how best to keep attachment on?** A: Mine sticks in there pretty good. Sony exchanged this product 6 times because they kept sending me products that didn't work. Finally after the 7th tennis sensor, they are offering me my money back because they say it sounds like a software issue with the device. So, I have tried out 7 of these sensors. Some of them didn't connect with bluetooth. Some didn't register shots on my phone. Some didn't synch. They all come off the racquet easily.
