**Q: Is there a difference between this knife and j.a. henckels international forged synergy 8-inch chef's knife which costs $35 ?**
A: International is made in China.  Good value.  Could use 3 rivets in handle instead of 2. 4 star is heavier which means that it is easier to cut tougher items like carrots, meats, etc.  4 star is made in Germany.  I personally use and have used Twin for many years professionally.  Some for over 30 years.  Just never put any good knife in the dishwasher! Hope that helps.

**Q: How wide (in millimeters) is the top "edge" of the blade, near the grip -- the part your hand bears down on during use?  I like 4mm.**
A: If you mean the very top, it's 3.175 mm.  But that's deceptive, because while that's where the blade per se ends, it continues on to enfold about16 mm of the handle, providing more strength.

A: I believe this knife is made in Germany!

**Q: What is the blade width?**
A: I measure it at 45mm or just 2 hairs over 1 3/4 inches. Maybe 1/32+ over 1 3/4. This was at it's widest point. Hope this helps you.
