Great way to make coffee as long as you appreciate the ritual this method demands
Once upon a time I purchased a single-cup coffee maker that failed after a couple of years of use. I decided I was better off going back to basics. A filter and something to boil water with. I'm thrilled with this product, it is well made and nicely designed and if you follow the instructions for use and cleaning, it will serve you for a very long time. This is not a product for people who don't like ritual, as it does require more work than using a K-Cup coffee maker, however, if you are into the ritual of making coffee, grinding the beans, boiling water, slowing pouring it into the coffee, cleaning the filter immediately after use, etc. this will provide you with excellent coffee, as long as you give it the attention it requires. The instructions were fun to to read, one of the best product manuals I've ever had the pleasure of reading.

Pretty Much Perfect For Me
I had been waiting until I used this to write a review. I had never bought the coffee you grind yourself at the store before so when I got this I used the medium coarse setting (using one of those big old eight 'o clock grinders you see at supermarkets). I followed the directions, but it seemed to take me quite a while to slowly pour it in as they said to do and the water seeped quite quickly through the grinds. When looking at questions for this product, I had seen some having to do with the fineness of the mesh and the microns or something like that. Well I don't know a lot about it, but the next coffee I bought I ground to medium fine. None of the coffee grounds went through the holes; and due to it being a finer grind, the water went through slower on its own and seemed to extract better. So i went ahead and just did the espresso grind the last time I bought coffee. I have no idea how many microns. There are 5 setting and its the furthest to the right. The grinds still do not go through the fine mesh of the cone and I find that I get an almost perfect cup of coffee by going slow at first and once the grind kind of congeals together, I just fill it up and it slow drips on its own. I put in about 3 Tbsp for 16 oz of water. seems good to me. Anyways, this is pretty much exactly what I had always been wanting to find and what I pictured. It works great for when I only want one cup. It is very well made and stainless so it should last. I would much prefer to buy this once then to buy a bunch of low quality cones that don't work well. Add that to the fact that you do not need a filter and I cannot see how you could do it better.

Garden hose with a jet nozzle to clean it!
I've now had this filter for about 2+ years. Mind you it's not been in active use that long b/c after about 2 months or so it got so clogged up that the coffee water would run through it unbearably slow! Unusably slow! Soaking it in boiling water or boiling water with vinegar did not help so I just shelved it for months, if not over a year. But shooting water through it from the inside out so as to not hurt the structural integrity of the filter has made a huge difference! I am back to using it again. So I think doing this once a month is the key to longevity? So now, instead of being wasteful with paper filters, I am being wasteful with water!! No good deed goes unpunished! And yes, the coffee is good. No funky aftertaste or anything of the sort.

A good sturdy filter
I really like that I don't have to use filters. I don't notice much difference in the richness of the coffee as some reported. It is a fast drip which can make a difference as to how strong the coffee is. The slower drip the stronger the coffee. But I like that it is faster because I often don't have time for the long, slow journey. Cant' use the handle because it gets too hot so have to remove the filter from the cup by grabbing the base. Cleans easily. Overall I like it. Paid twice as much as I would have for my ceramic filter that I loved, but it broke (ceramic) and I had to pay for filters.....so in the end I have a filter I can use for a very long time and travel with.

Great Quality!
I read a lot of reviews and compared multiple styles before choosing this one! I originally read about this brand in an article that said it was the best! I have been using it for over 10 months now & I love it! It's very sturdy & there is no staining or any defects with daily use for over 10 months. I have a keurig, but was concerned about all of the "plastic" pieces that come in contact with the hot water. This is stainless steel, it cleans well... I use a brush on it 1-2 times per week, If it's just one use per day, I just rinse well & turn upside down to dry. You do NOT have to use any filter as their are no grounds left in this!! If you want to use a filter (to save you time in cleanup or whatever, I sometimes use the Bolio hemp paper filters (they are unbleached) inside this as I can then just lift out the grounds & rinse & I am ready to be out the door! :-) One tip I read that I love it to pour a tiny bit of almost boiling water on the grounds as a pre-soak to release gases; wait 30 seconds & then pour the water.... I bought a stainless steel electric kettle that has an uto shut off to use with this to heat my water in about 40 seconds.... The best part is the taste! It is so much better than the keurig (which I thought was great before I tried this!) It takes a bit more time but the results are so good & the peace of mind of not drinking melted plastic particles that I am super glad I bought this! :-) Happy coffee time!!

Healthy, Hot coffee and easy to use.
This is the best little coffee maker I have ever tried. I just got the Brewologist today and couldn't wait to try it out. Thanks to research on my part and a thoughtful email the night before from the great folks at The Brewologist I was prepared to use this product. I guess I am what you would consider a coffee expert and have always ground organic beans with a burr grinder and immediately brewed it right away to preserve the coffee flavor. I followed the instructions and brewed a perfect cup. This little pour over brewer replaces a drip coffee maker that recently began to leak. I was prepared to buy a new one at the cost of $190, Ha ha I saved $170 dollars and got a stainless steel coffee maker with no plastic parts and no BPA and no paper filters to buy ever. I'm now enjoying healthier coffee and better than French press taste....WOW !!!! This company has excellent customer service and will stand behind their product. I am very satisfied and VERY pleased.

Surprised and totally pleased with this filter.
Pleasantly surprised at the quality. Been using Hario filter (with unbleached no 2 paper filters) and melita filter with no 4 filters. Getting the paper out of the process has made the coffee taste better. I grind each am using a Hario Skelton set with a medium course grind. No grounds end up in the cofee. At the end of the cup there is a tiny dark silt left just in the last sip. That is the tasty stuff! I brew water to 190 and bloom for 30 secs. Best home brewed coffee ive done. Way Better and more consistent than my french press. As good as my nespresso for lack of bitterness, but able to produce a 16 ounce coffee single drip cup. For single serving drip this is perfect. Cleanup has been very easy. I set it in the sink after use and let the grounds release thier moisture. I tap it out into the trash and then scrape out remaining grounds with a spoon. Add a drop of dish soap and then wash/rinse and it iis ready for tomoorw. Once a week i put it through the dishwasher for a deep clean. I am going to buy another one for my vacation home. Final note: The absolute key to making this thing work is the grind. Use a decent quality grinder to produce medium course ground like you would use in a french press.

Amazing coffee brewer
I really liked this product its awesome. I was looking for a replacement to an keurig coffee maker because i really like their coffee and their variety. First its extremely easy to use (self explanitory) and easy to clean. I would recomend to dump the coffe grounds immidietly after using it and give it a quick rince because the instruction say the coffee and oils can clog the filter. Also its for one cup of coffee (1 1/2 cup or 12 ounces of water) at a time and it dosent take long to brew about 1-2 min. Its sturdy, it arrieved on time, no damage and with instructions. I would really recomend this to any and all coffee drinkers its truly amazing and it dosent break your wallet. P.S. its a little over 3 inches tall and 4 1/2 inches in circumfrance and pour the water slowly.

Have been using this for a couple of months now every morning and I've to say it's of very good quality and constructions and a lot more environmentally friendly than using more traditional filters.
