I ALWAYS try to put our tent on the flattest surface, preferably in the shade, with a tarp underneath the tent and some times even a thicker pad underneath the mattress so that nothing is poking up and puncturing the mattress. With this system we have had good luck with good mattresses, but you can always tell when the lesser quality mattresses are going to give out no matter what you do. This is the first air mattress I have tried that was taller than the standard 8-10inch mattress and I will probably never go back to the short beds. Because of its height, we have better sleep and even on the first night sleeping on it when it deflated a little bit, we still slept comfortably! It's hard to rate it in durability since I've only had it a short time, but it seems very well made and like it will last a long time. I like that the storage bag is attached to the bed so that you can't lose it; and the fuzzy sort of coating on the top is quite comfy. You can control how soft or firm you want it, by the amount of air you add. I liked to keep it fully blown up during the day, because the height of it means you can use it as a place to sit. At night I'd let a little air out, so that I could sink down in it a bit to sleep more comfortably. This is the 3rd air mattress I've tried in the last few years, and definitely the best of the 3. Oh, and it holds air perfectly.
