use for industrial maintenance
I've had two meters for use in industrial maintenance, for CNC machines. Both were flukes, recently my fluke amp clamp was destroyed by a coolant pump. This does not check for dc amps, but I've never had a use a meter for dc amps. If you don't have a amp clamp meter, they are awesome. This was the only way I found a glass fuse that read voltage when it blew, as the element in fuse melted and left enough on glass to conduct proper voltage but not able to run amperage, single phasing a motor. This meter out of the package read proper voltage for residential, have not compared amperage reading vs fluke. I will edit review if amp readings are off vs Fluke. I bought this due to high reviews, is belt better than other brands besides Fluke. Close to build quality of fluke. Also smaller and more portable. Very happy, and will edit this if comparison vs Fluke (calibrated yearly) is not satisfactory.

Good product, but continuity function is a bit different.
When testing continuity, most meters will produce a tone when continuity is detected. This one didn't. I determined that you need to turn the dial to the ohms-diode-continuity function, then press the SELECT button twice. The meter also has an NCV (non-contact voltage) function that the card that came with the meter doesn't say much about. But if you turn it to that function and bring it near a powered wire or extension cord, it will beep. For more info, go to the Sperry website and download the manual.

All the essential setting you need but at a much lower price. If you can justify the cost of a Klein or a Fluke buy them. For me this is what I need for checking voltage. Update: Not as accurate as the Sperry meter that was lost. Fluctuates, especially at low voltage. Hard to tell if the voltage is correct or even if there is any. What good is this?

This is a Gotta Have if You Need a Volt-Ohm Meter
I've only used this long enough to try it out, but Sperry has such a good reputation, there's no doubt in my mind that it'll do the job. And, the price is great for the functions of a clamp-on meter. If I find a problem, I'll revisit this review and update it.

does it all
I needed a meter w/400amp readings for my motor home. This one fills the bill. Me and sparky don't get along so well, so when I use these type of things, I tend to study the instructions a little longer ! But no problem, they are very informative. I do recommend this meter.

Flimsy. Very low quality feel.
Relegated to the trash drawer where it belongs. I can't believe Sperry is still in business, and here's a good reason why. It's a toy, not a tool.

Meter failed!
This is my second one in 5 years. The first one read A/c voltage 60 volts higher that it was! Led me to believe I had lost my natural!Never seen a meter go bad in that way in my 40 years of using one.

Had been buying another brand, turns out it was a fluke!
Very impressed with this meter for the price. I had been spending ALOT more on another brand whenever a tech would require a new meter with an amp clamp. I got tired of the terrible customer service and warranty department that would never help us out that I decided to try this meter. I could buy 5 of these for the price of the other brand but I dont think Ill have to. Very impressed. Will update again after a few months of heavy use.

Decent clamp on multi meter with built in non contact ...
Decent clamp on multi meter with built in non contact voltage sensing as well. For the price it's hard to beat.
