Best affordable ultra short throw out there!
The media could not be loaded. I had this projector for over an year and absolutely love it. I cannot disagree more with the negative reviews, which mostly seem like folks with setup and support issues. Three things I love and appreciate about this projector:1. Resolution and sharpness... All suspicions I had for being a budget project, first of it's kind in the UST consumer grade segment were shattered once I set it up. After months of shopping, I took a gamble with this. 1080p delivered as promised. At 135" from a little over 2 ft away, it's a very sharp picture edge to edge, with absolutely no distortion even in the corners. The little you may observe on my images is because of my uneven wall surface.2. Brightness. Again, 4000 lumens as promised. I needed this for a family room setting. Windows cover 75% of the walls on three sides (covered with white blinds and no curtains). For over 12 months, I had absolutely no trouble watching day time with lots of ambient light. The strength faded after that but this may be expected as the OOTB bulb had only 500hrs of life and I was over 1000hrs of usage.3. Affordability. I was shopping for several months looking for three things in particular. Throw ratio of 0.25 or lower, lumens > 3000, 1080p or better and of course lowest price on the market. At 1600$, this projector seemed completely out of place! The next best was over $10K. Hence the gamble and the eventual falling in love.I just wish 2 things were different.1. That the new lamp life was much longer than 500 hrs. Mine burst after 1800 hrs of use. Hoping a replacement lamp has a longer life2. That Optoma had some more aggressive marketing and made this a more popular product than it is; improving their versions and market share. When I was shopping the only reviews or marketing material I found were for office setups, and this projector delivers much more than PowerPoint presentations!!Last point to add: Excellent customer service!!

I love how close you can place the projector to the wall. Being able to place it just 18 inches away and get a nearly 100 inch diagonal screen is amazing. The only negative to this projector is noticeable distortion towards the edges if you're not projecting against a 100% perfectly flat surface like a screen. You really must use a projector screen to avoid any distortion. Not having a perfectly flat surface to project on will get you these results:

Because it's such a short throw lens, if the screen is not 100% straight (meaning there is wrinkle or natural tilt) the image will be skewed.Very tough to handle the image projection.

HDMI real, short shot, high illumination, wide screen at very short distance.
We looked for a projector with specific requirements: more tan 3500 lumens, real HDMI, short shot, portable. We had tested other products before and all them had problems: too noisy, lumens did not correspond to reality, not real HDMI, ... This one is THE product for people that has to move from time to time (size and weight aceptable), low noise, very good light, and impresive size at very short distance ( ratio 4:1). Easy to install. Absolutely advisable. A very good product.
