Heavy duty with easy use!
This machine is an absolute workhorse! It glides through multiple layers of thick denim and leather without skipping a beat, while the high-speed motor saves so much time on large projects. It is incredibly durable, easy to set up, and handles heavy-duty sewing like a breeze. Highly recommended for anyone needing power and reliability!

Strong machine.
Really good all purpose machine. Perfect for denim and heavy fabrics. And the price is right.

A real powerhouse, but take the time to get the tension just right. It's very picky there.
I have no idea what is with all the negative reviews. I think sometimes it's harder to tune a machine than it is to just return one and never learn how to work it. For me, this machine was bought for two reasons - Vinyl upholstery and clothing repair. I don't quilt, so maybe that's the big hiccup, though I can't imagine how it'd be a problem there too. For my vinyl, it's up to 5 layers thick and this machine sews through them without any problems. I did have some birdnesting up front, but dialed in the tension over the course of about 30 minutes. It's much more particular on tension than my old machine. But once that was set for the thread I was using and the stiff needle, it just powered through the job like a redneck roofing a house. This was with a zigzag stitch. After two days of vinyl work, I swapped to repairing some shirts with a straight stitch and another zigzag. Again, no problems once I got the tension figured out for the thread and needle I swapped to. And man does it sew fast! I didn't like the needle threader at first, having never used one, but after a couple of tries I love it. Wouldn't own a machine without it now. When I get old and can't see anymore, this will make it simple to rethread. I also like the thread cutter quite a bit. It comes out to the right length every time to move on to the next seam. One thing I'd like is for them to start using LED targeted lights on these machines. A white light instead of the dull gold bulb, and adjustable too...Sort of like a flashlight you can swap to broad beam and tight beam depending on usage. Other than that, I'm happy and work is getting done. I can't believe this thing isn't five hundred dollars.

Excellent machine!
Iโve had my machine for a while now and Iโve made quite a few projects with it. I am absolutely thrilled with how well it works. There are more than enough stitch functions for most sewists. This machine is mechanical instead of digital which means I can clean and maintain it on my own and not have to worry with electronics and circuits breaking down. Donโt be intimidated by the word โmechanicalโ if youโre new to sewing. Everything is as easy as turning a dial. Like most machines it works best if you remove the throat plate and clean and oil it after every project. Itโs insanely simple and takes me about 5 minutes to do. You can find tutorials online, and other than the oil (which is cheap and lasts forever) this machine comes with all of the tools you need although I recommend buying a tiny screwdriver set if you sew a lot. Iโve even set the timing on this thing after a mishap with an aftermarket ruffled foot and was amazed at how simple it was to do. I also like that if you learn to listen to this machine itโs going to tell you waaay ahead of time if thereโs a problem so you can take care of it before it jams. The only problem Iโve had with this machine is that if I use the upright spool pin the thread sometimes jumps and wraps around the pin and jams. I finally quit using that pin and either use a freestanding one I bought cheap or the horizontal pin that comes with the machine. Iโve been able to sew corsets with multiple layers of fabric and cording with no issues at all. It took me a few tries to get the buttonhole feature right (really make sure you have the lever all the way down, again, watch a few videos online) but buttonholes are now easy as pie. If youโre a more advanced sewer who loves all of the bells and whistles like push button thread cutters and super fancy features, this probably wonโt be your fave unless youโre looking for a workhorse for more sturdy fabrics. But I assume that anyone that advanced is probably looking at machines that are 5 times more expensive and will require a pro to service once a year.

good machine
I bought this sewing machine in 2022. I would have given it 5 stars but wasnโt as heavy duty as I had hoped. I do a lot of home decor so my fabric is thicker. I thought this was such a great machine. It seemed to handle the job till it didnโt. Went to get it fixed and they quoted a price of $300. Googled the problem and thought I fixed but still the problem but is not a %100 so sadly will have to replace. I really do like this machine especially the price point and how it handled bulky fabric. I dont believe I will be purchasing another singer 4452. Need something that will last longer than 4 years.

Perfect for my needs
I love this machine. Its easy to use, and it comes with a bunch of accessories. Do yourself a favor, however, and get an overlocking foot. It'll save you some frustration and about $260 in the shape of a serger if you dont want to deal with that. I have seen some discord about the needle position dial having stopped working; THIS IS USER ERROR 99% of the time. It took me less than a minute of research to find out what went wrong. Reset your tension (4), stitch length (2.5), width (0) and type (straight). The needle should move back to center (if thats where the dial is). Make sure you're changing your needle, using the right needle, and sweeping the lint regularly. This thing has trucked through zippers, heavy fabrics and multiple layers like a champ, but you HAVE to take care of it. Stop blaming the machine for your lack of research. I'm a fairly novice sewist, and this machine has done its job perfectly because I've done my due diligence.

This machine is a piece of JUNK
I have been sewing my entire life. Never have I used such a poorly designed machine. Whoever designed this thing must not have known how to sew. A few of the bad features: 1. The walking foot doesn't have a place to attach a quilting guide. Since the walking foot is primarily where this type of guide is used, I don't know what they were thinking. I've had to use a walking foot from another brand of sewing machine in order to use a guide. I also used the guide from the other machine, since the one Singer provides is awkward and stupid. And it should be TWO guides; which one you use depends on what direction you are quilting in. 2. You have to unscrew the needle plate to get underneath it and clean out lint. And even then, it's practically impossible to get at all of it. In other machines, I can just pop off that plate and clean as often as I need to. And it's a lot easier to clean once the plate is removed. 3. It's EXTREMELY DIFFICULT to put on and take off the presser foot "ankle" or the walking foot. The machine won't let me get my hand in there to direct the screw to where it needs to go. I have very small hands, but even my small hands can't fit in there to work the screw. I have been sitting here cussing out this machine for this for the last hour, and I STILL haven't been able to get the walking foot back on (after the hassle of unscrewing the needle plate to clean). If I could just barely get the screw in its spot and get it started, then I could get in there with my screwdriver and finish the job. But the walking foot slides up and down the shaft and won't stay still long enough to get the screw into the hole - even if I COULD fit my little hand in there to do it. 4. This is not a true heavy duty machine. The presser foot cannot be raised more than the standard amount, so I can't fit several layers of fabric under it. I make purses and bags, and deal with LOTS of layers. This machine did not give me ANY advantage in dealing with all those layers. 5. It can sew very fast, but it's very noisy. And the stitching motion is jerky, not smooth. This machine is not fun to use at all. 6. If you want it for zig-zag stitches, forget about it and find another machine. I tried using a very simple zig-zag stitch on some cotton/lycra knit fabric, and it just made a tangled mess. The only stitch this machine can handle is a straight stitch. 7. It doesn't have the "needle down" feature. If I want to pivot - as I need to at the end of every row of straight quilting - I have to manually make sure the needle is down and then pivot. Total waste of time and motion. I wish I'd never bought this machine. Thank goodness I didn't pay much more than a couple of hundred bucks for it; that's still wasted money. As soon as I am able I will buy a much nicer machine that is TRULY HEAVY DUTY to replace it. I know I am comparing a low-cost Singer with other more expensive machines, but many of these poor design features would be very simple and low cost to fix. It's infuriating.

This thing is a workhorse!
This is not the first singer heavy duty I have owned. I have one that broke because of my own stupidity. And of course I broke it while I was in the middle of a project. So that one's in the shop and being the impatient person I am, I decided to buy a second one to finish my project. It's sews like a dream! The speed is spectacular, it's easy to thread, and it has enough stitches to keep me happy. I find I don't need a lot of stitches because I'm not into machine embroidery or anything like that. I basically sew garments, bags, etc and straight, zigzag, a couple of stretch stitches, and a few decorative stitches are all I need. This is a great machine if somebody wants to start out because it's inexpensive and it works very well.

Donโt forget the transformer
If buying this for use in the UK you will need a 240v to 110v transformer as it is a 110v model but it still worth every penny
