shuffle the wood and water cards and deal 6 cards, face down to each player. Place the next card in the deck face up into one of the two parallel compartments in the card tray. This is to start a discard stack. Place the remainder woods and water deck, face down, in the other of the two parallel compartments in the card tray. Each player rolls the dice to determine who starts the game. The player who rolls the highest number will roll first. Thereafter, the other player will roll in turn, clockwise. Each player places their token in either of the start/finish spaces from where they will begin play. A player must make their first move from the side of the cabin where they have placed their token. A player may not move through the cabin to move in the opposite direction. Each player should therefore chose a side of the cabin from which they want to begin. Each time it's a players turn they:Either draw the top face up card from the discard stack or draw the top facedown card from the remaining woods and water deck.Regardless of which stack they draw from, they must then discard one of the seven cards they are holding. Place whichever card you choose to face up in the discard stack.After a player draws and discards a card they roll the dice to move. Each time a player rolls the dice they must move the full number of spaces indicated. Each move is subject to the following rules:May not move diagonallyMay not move out of any space, reverse direction and then immediately move back into that same space. A player may however twist and turn along the trail and cross through the same space more than once during a single turn.a player may cross over any fish or animal located on the trail during the course of their move (subject to the skunk rule)Skunk Rule: If a player crosses over a skunk during their move, they pick up the scent of the the skunk and are unable to score any fish or animal during that turn.If a player ends their move on any fish or animal for which they can not score they stay on that fish or animal but lose a turn.A player scores points by ending their move on a fish or animal for which they have in their hand all the necessary cards to score with.When a player scores a fish or animal the points earned by them are as shown on the cards used for that score. The points are entered on a woods and water scoresheet.When a player scores a fish or animal the cards used for that score must be relinquished by placing them in the compartment at the back of the card tray.once a fish or animal has been scored it is not longer available for any other player to score and must there for be tagged by placing one of the enclosed woods and water vinyl squares over it. That space is therefore treated as a blank space for the remainder of the game.A player must always maintain 6 cards in their hand and must therefore replace the cards for a score. Replacement cards may only be drawn from the top of the face down woods and water deck.A player may not move their token across any red fence which indicates no trespassing.players may not trade cards with each other during the game.When the final card has been drawn it is time to head back to the start/finish space. Players may use whatever cards are still in their hands to score fish or animals. The is the only time during the game that a player may continue to play with less than six cards in their hand. fish or animals can be scored only until the first player re-enters the cabin at which time hunting seasons officially ends. A player does not have to return to the start/finish space from with they started. They do not have to roll the exact number of spaces to move to the start/finish space. In addition to earning points for each fish and animal scored during the game, the player that scores the most fish and animals earns a bonus 50 points. If two or more players are tied they both earn 25 points. The player who is first back to the cabin after the last card is drawn is also awarded a 50 points. The player with the most points wins.

The game did not come with the play card holder or game card holder. Would it be possible to get those?

Just as fun as I remembered!

Several years ago, a friend had this game at a cabin on a fishing weekend. I'm NOT a hunter, or big 'fisherman', but I loved this game! We played it over and over (so much so, that the friend told us he threw it away). I've been looking for it ever since, and either couldn't find it, or when I did, I didn't have the money to get it. So when it was re-published under the new owner, we splurged, and finally bought it for ourselves. My husband and I played it with one of our friends, and not only did she enjoy the game too, but I was not disappointed in my memory of it. It was still a LOT of fun. For the 'material' part of the game, there are enough 'items' cards, that even if some get lost or ruined, the game can still be played. And the board seems to be easily wiped clean. The little vinyl 'stickers' you use (to mark which wildlife has already been taken) are a little bit tedious, but didn't hinder our enjoyment of the game. I think it's a fun and different board game where you don't have to be mean to other players to get ahead, and there is still some thought and calculation involved (choosing which 'wildlife' to go for by choosing which cards to keep, which paths to follow, when to change your plan, etc.) You could always set a time limit if it seems to be taking too long. Or play with 2 teams of 2. Great game in general, but perfect for a 'rainy day'. I think everyone could enjoy it from middle-school age to senior adults.

Such A Fun Game

It seemed like it was going to be complicated but ended up being so much fun and easy. We love to play this game!

Great Game

Fun for the whole family, even if you are like me and have zero interest in hunting or fishing. I like how you try to calculate your moves carefully to try to get ahead in the game and for once that doesn't include being mean to other players. The little vinyl pieces can get to be somewhat annoying when it's time to put the game back into the box. But overall I would recommend this game to anyone looking for some good, clean family fun!

This game is a tons of fun. I wasn't keen on placing the stickers directly to the board so we were able to find about 50 1/2 inch colored glass tiles here on amazon and placed them on the board. Works great!

The game itself is very fun for outdoor hunting, fishing lovers. Unfortunately not all the pieces were included when packaged...however the SELLER rectified it for me as it was no fault of her own but whomever packaged it at the warehouse. The seller was amazing to work with as she went above and beyond to make everything right and send me the missing piece to play the game. Thank you!

Fun

Adult guys and girls enjoy playing this game. It is fun and strategic. There is a slight issue trying to mark the animals on the side of the board because the decals provided are one time use. I'm still trying to figure out a plan and have tried a few things but nothing I would recommended yet.

Hours of entertainment!

I got this for my boys(ages 9-12) for Christmas, they love it! Hours of entertainment.. Their dad has enjoyed playing it with em too.
