A: Dear,
We have measured and tested the clamps. 
The mini clamp can easily clamp 6" and the bigger one can easily clamp 12". 
6" Clamp: The opening of spreader is about 11-1/8".
12" Clamp: The opening of spreader is about 17-3/8".

**Q: Where is it made?**
A: I don't know.   But this is the company info:  HANZGHOU GREATSTAR INDUSTRIAL CO.LTD I am away from the house and can not check for a while.  I have not had any issues with them from a quality perspective.   They have been a real benefit for all the wood work I have been doing.   I bought some for family that have thanked me over and over.
