My Virtual Tutor was created to help children learn and master early reading via the incredibly popular Nintendo DS. Featuring individualized learning exercises, eight interactive books; four play modes and staged learning all aimed at keeping readers motivated and encouraging literacy. Backed by six years of research and development from the University of Colorado and using proprietary Foundations to Literacy software, My Virtual Tutor makes reading fun, affordable and portable. Review: My son loves this game! - I bought this game for my son as a graduating from kindergarten present. He wasn't thrilled to get it, since it looked like work, but once he started playing it, he didn't put it down all weekend. He reads at exactly a going into 1st grade level. This game is a little easy for that level, although I think it gets harder the further he goes. I like that it asks questions about what he's reading, since comprehension is something he is still learning, and he has to read the choices and choose the right answers. My only complaint is that it doesn't seem to have many books in it and I think he'll finish the whole game in about a week. I might buy the first to second grade game later in the summer. Review: Pretty Good! - My 4yr old enjoys this game but doesn't play it as much as some of his other games. It gets a bit boring for him. The stories maybe need to be longer. However, I think it's a good game for them to learn to read. I would recommend it.

Great addition to helping learn to read.
My 6 year old has been struggling with learning to read. I have tried quite a few things, but he always reverts to wanting to play his DS. So I figured we could try this out. Turns out, he loves it and I believe it is helping. He is completely interested, which is hard to say at this age.

Not quite what I was expecting.
It's okay, and my son enjoys playing with it, but it seems a little..random. Maybe it's because I got a used one without a manual, but it doesn't seem to teach the child, so much as it just reads to the child. The "quiz" part of it just tells you to click on the correct word and does nothing more than spout out little phrases like "you can do it! try again" until the child finally clicks on the right answer.

Not What I thought
I think this game is bad, it is not intended for the age group it suggests because it doesn't hold their attention long enough. The children get bored very quickly and want to do something else.
