I use this for metatarsal bone pain. I'm sorry I didn't have a surgical rebuilt when I was younger. But I cut the. foam into two inch pads and that helps.

If I xcould get the vendor to ship this stuff in a poster board package … but no. It comes in a roll. The last four feet are tough to work with. Otherwise it works just the way you want.

I use this to create a cushion under my claw toe to pretty much eliminate the pain I experience walking without a cushion. The cushion I make prevents the tip of the toe from slamming down on the bottom of the shoe when I walk.I do not use the adhesive against my skin. Instead, I use the adhesive sides to stick two small pieces together (two three-quarter inch squares). Then I secure this under my toe using medical tape (such as Transpore Medical tape by 3M) and use gauze on top of my toe (under the tape) as extra protection for the joints. It works great!Some say that it is hard to remove the backing to expose the adhesive. I at first found this difficult as well. But then I hit upon a method that makes it easier, which is to pull down on the foam part of one side/end while holding the other side. See photo for what I mean by this.

Update... Since I had been using this product for a long time without the problem talked about below, I called the seller to find out what happened. He told me the reason. But that does matter. He said the solution is to cut off what you are going to use and toss it into the freezer ( not the frig) overnight. Then take it out and let is sit for several hours AFTER it has come up to room temperature.Them the backing will peel off without any problem.....hope this helpsThis is a form pad, not felt. Felt does not compress, this product is form and it compresses to almost nothing when you put weight on it, so it did nothing to help me offload my uclers, Also the form absorbs moisture which is a separate problem because you do not want your ulcer exposed to a moist environment and get bacteria growing. So if you are diabetic looking to offload areas of your foot, you need FELT, not form padding.
