What Happened Will Blow Your Mind
Please read both of the author’s forwards in at least Part 1: Genesis.I bet this author was a handful growing up. The first book, in which the author says he introduces the characters. Let’s see. We learn three of their names and what they used to do before they end up together, broken. We learn the person who brought them together, Lori, is presumed dead. Except by her husband, who insists she is alive. There was even a murder trial. The alleged becomes the guilty. Why won’t Lori’s husband say where she is if he knows where she is? No one would believe him, he claims. In this half, Mr. Konrath skillfully introduces his well-known puns and silliness (to see if we are paying attention) into the building drama that each brings to the table. Background characters. In Book 2: Revelations, starts again with an author’s note. Read it. Hint: if there is/are authorʼs notes in any of Mr. Konrathʼs books, or forwards, or anything at all before the story starts, read it. He didn’t write it without purpose. The second, much longer “half” of the story is a humdinger. The authorʼs notes? The ones I said just above, that he wrote them for a reason? Baloney. The 11th note explains all. Just when I have my digestive system all settled, he starts changing things. My stomach has rested. Other parts have relaxed. Reading along fine, enjoying myself, and sadism creeps in. Creeping softly into your psyche, so when what he has done hits you, too late. Youʼre as gone as the frog in the boiled frog experiment. Donʼt expect to get much sleep once you start. As if you do reading any of Konrath-verse.Since I had read the next book, I knew how I thought this ended. And it did, exactly as I expected. Now, having written a review that says nothing to anyone, I will say this is a very satisfying story. Had I read Book 1, Genesis, and had to wait for Book 2, Revelations, I would have been extremely cross. As in breaking my Kindle by throwing it clear across the room cross. I was lucky to wait until the “duology” was complete. The suspense doesn’t last long—just the entire book. Now that I have finished Revelations forget anything good I have ever said about this author. He is a sneaky, should-be-ashamed-but-isnʼt, hands-rubbing-in-glee type of author who enjoys being-sadistic-to-his-readers-just-for-fun author.Even as you wonder about the next turn, drop, and curve, or even all three at the same time. Now off to read more Konrath books. I have a ton of books on my “to read before I die” list. His unread books are ahead (thankfully not many) of all of those on that list. Mr. Konrath is viciously funny with his horror. Read this. Highly recommended.

Almost confusing, but yet intriguing!
This is a long story filled with fodder and why? I don't know because it was long enough without the frivolous facts. We, the readers, read about kidnapping, then alien abduction, the AI owning the story. An author, JD Kirk , just released The Killing Code and the basis of the serial killer in that book, makes me think of the ending to this one. Both say, are we real or simulations? Just crazy storylines that keep you turning the pages! The fact God was never capitalized was irritating as well.

Wow! JA Konrath Just Wow!
This book was just nuts, reading What Happened to Lori, I was reminded of the feeling when as a grade schooler you were on one of those old metal Merry go Rounds circa 1950-1985 and some big kids would come and spin it as fast as they could to see how many of the little kids would go flying off. Joe, you sir nearly flung me right off the dang ride. But I hung on, and though my brain my never be the same I remain firmly in your camp.

Couldnt put it down!
This book had so many twists and turns. I was never certain what was going to happen untill the very end and even then it took a few moments to register. All in all a great read.

Edge of the seat read
I had to stop reading because the tension was killing me! This is one of those books you don't see coming. I've read Konrath so I thought nothing would surprise me. But each new twist had me crawling a little closer to the edge. I love the characters, the story, the zany humor and sarcasm. It's the complete package.

Convoluted writing style
Let me state up front that I have read over a dozen of Konrath's novels and thoroughly enjoyed all of them . . . except this one. He warns readers right up front that the style in which this novel is written that they may not enjoy it and actually find it quite annoying. He was right. I'm sure some will think it comes off as cutting edge and freshly different, but I truly just found . . . it . . . annoying. Yeah, it reads a lot like that. I certainly hope he doesn't make this his default writing style. Honestly, I've never read a writing style before that irritated me so much as to make me lose sight of what was actually happening in the book. It was so difficult to push through the book that by the end I just did not care about any of the characters or the story, in general. To each his own, but be forewarned to expect something very different than what you usually read.

More than a five star review
This is probably the craziest book I have ever read! And I loved it! It is one of those books that you just can’t put down. Every time you think it’s over, think again. Throughout the book the author keeps asking you if you know what is happening. My biggest question throughout the book was: How the heck did the author ever come up with this story? You’ve got to have one crazy mind to write this one! Kudos, sir!

Out of this world
This is in my humble opinion the best work Joe has ever done. His Author notes during the story really catapulted everything into strange universe where it felt like he was actually talking to me. Never came across anything like it in my whole life of reading.***** Spoiler Alert *******Harry McGlade is the President of the USA.My favourite fictional character ever was even mentioned in this book.Joe, I bow before you with gratitude and awe.BookEater

Different
I must say this book was very different than all the other J. AKonrath books I've read. Definitely not among my favorites but altogether a different storyline. It was good enough to read in its entirety but I much prefer his other books like the Jack Daniels series.
