Awful format ruined a great painters teaching
Why on earth the publisher published it in this format i dont know. You have to flip it upside xown for every page to see the page in the correct orientation. I wont be selling on as i won't be torturing anyone else it will make good fire starter material. Wish id read the reviews before purchasing this format. Cant even comment on the content as the format is so awful. I did consixer ripping every page out at one point to align them as one person noted they split double page pictures so they appear to be nothing to do with each other....why would anyone do that its insane! Nope do not buy this unless you are a complete masochist!

Good content, bad printing format
The media could not be loaded. There are two editions for this book, a hardcover edition published in 2004 and the paperback edition in 2007. With David and Charles (DC) being the publisher. The format of the paperback edition (2007) is horrible. The pages are clearly laid out for a landscape format book but the book is printed in portrait format. You have to rotate the book for every single page you want to read. It gets tiring immediately. For some of the paintings that span two pages, they are cut off at the bottom of the left and right pages. In usual landscape format, they would have been printed across the gutter. This is ridiculous. The content is great. Charles Reid's style is loose and at times splashy, just like the one on the cover. There are useful tips and instructions on every page, some step by step tutorials and little exercises for you to experiment.Overall, because of the printing format, I won't recommend this book because it's just too frustrating to rotate the book every time.Content: 5 starsBook format: 1 star(There are more pictures of the book on my blog. A great book ruined by the way it has been reprinted.
This book was probably designed for landscape binding and has been converted into portrait format for the reprint on poor quality paper. Probably should have sent it back.

Charles Reid's Watercolour Secrets
Charles Reid's work is always fantastic and so is the content of this book, but I was disappointed with two aspects of a publishing nature.Firstly whilst the book is printed landscape, the orientation of the pages about the spine is such that the book has to be rotated at each page change. The second criticism is much more serious and relates to my copy as purchased. Several of the pages at the front and back are faulty copies with a machineindentation. Clearly something went wrong at the printer and in the publisher's quality control standards. Bit difficult to return from here in Australia.

what more can yoiu say about charles reid?
another inspiring book by the Charles Reid. We might all have our own individual styles inside us just waiting to be released, but who wouldn't like to be able to paint like CR; spontaneous, optimistic. Each image is a revelation.

A new way to look at Watercolour
What I liked about this book was Charles Reids way of using Watercolour. Which was very loose, something I hope to learn to do myself. I also have a DVD by the artist and this complimented the video nicely.

Charles Reid
Charles Reid is my hero! If you love watercolour and want inspiration, he's your man. Beautiful illustrations and helpful tips. Great for beginners and more experienced artists. Recommended.
