Seems like it controls a little of the oil production , but that is not a claim on the product ! I used this on my natural hair as well as hair extensions and did not leave a residue or noticeable stiff or sticky feeling , the smell is initially an aerosol smell but dries down and does not leave a noticeable pleasant or unpleasant smell very neutral. I am someone who gets very very irritated by strong smells. It will make me nauseous and dizzy and give me headaches and I didn’t even think about it..
