Midway [Steelbook] [4K] [2019] [Blu-ray] [4K UHD]

Amazon’s failure to indicate on their website that this is a Region “B” format Blu-ray disc is inexcusable. It has caused substantial unwarranted low single-star ratings from disgruntled customers. For many of us living in the Americas (Region A) this is a significant issue. Fortunately for myself, I have an all-region Blu-ray player. I only had to “shift gears” and everything worked splendidly. That said, I have to give the movie itself high marks. This is basically a remake of the 1976 movie by the same name. The 1976 version cut corners by inserting a lot of wartime newsreel clips for action shots. Those shots included aircraft that simply were not available at the time of the battle. This 2019 version utilized computer generated action scenes instead. Of course this came across more like a video game than true action. But what else can a movie maker do three-quarters of a century later? At least they did a credible job getting the military hardware right. The Midway story is arguably mostly an intelligence success story than an action engagement. I would have liked to have seen this theme more deeply developed in the movie script. There is a lot more to this story than was shown. It deserves high praise, and it doesn’t require sophisticated computer generate photography.

This product won't run on US video players! This format only runs on European players. It says that in the product information, but it is easy to overlook as I did. The seller will claim that it will play on modern DVD/Blue-ray machines, but I have a brand new Sony player that won't play it and I have never seen a US player that will run this format. The seller will take it back, but by the time you pay for return shipping you are not much ahead. Why Amazon allows this to be listed and sold to customers in the US is a mystery to me, as it is completely useless to US viewers. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT IF YOU LIVE IN THE US!!!!!!

While this movie is about the Battle of Midway, it does show the attack on Pearl Harbor... and guess what? It does Pearl Harbor better than the movie, Pearl Harbor.

It came from England. I had never ordered from there before. It took weeks for it to arrive but when I did finally get it ., I stuck it in the player and it wouldn't work. It seems that in America we use a different code or something and it will not work on American players. So I bought a DVD that I can't even use. I'll be careful from now on and find out where I'm buying from. I am so disappointed.

Midway DVD did not boot up. The message on the screen was, "Playback prohibited by area limitations.: Unfortunately, I waited 2 days past the return by date, and had to order another one.

Excelente edicion de una pelicula que no ha salido en formato 4K en españa. imagen y sonido a la altura de lo que se espera (el Atmos es brutal).

This is a great film, i have seen it before on tv, and thought it would be good to watch again. 🙂 set in the 1940's and the graphics give you a feel for that time, they are that good. 😀 fantastic film. 👍
