Do you have to keep them in an oven?

Yes and no. Im a certified welder and i since i started weld in long beach calif never used a oven. No im in Nevada now over 15 yrs still no oven,When you strike the arc after 10-20 seconds the things burn off the moisture.. dont need a oven.. go ahead haters reply!! IT works for me

This might have something to do with how many volts you're running out of your house outlets. You might not have enough juice to be burning 7018 rod.
