Fourteen years after fleeing Kenya with her baby daughter, Corinne returned in the summer of 2004 to meet Lketinga and his family again in their village, Barsaloi. Nervous as she was, and uncertain as to how he would react on seeing her again, she found to her relief that she was welcomed unreservedly by all those who remembered her - by Lketinga, who still thought of her as his 'wife number one', by his brother, James, now a schoolteacher and especially by Lketinga's mother, who had looked after Corinne with such care all those years before. Corinne Hofmann revisits an area of a country which she cares about passionately, describing in her immensely readable style the changes she saw after her time away, and once again bringing to life the atmosphere and characters in the Masai village. Review: Loved the book - Very good read. Review: Great second book - To be able to return to Kenya 14 years later is a miracle. It was very well written and brought back all the wonder of her first book..White Masai. Now I am off to find the movie 16 years after it was filmed.

overwhelmingly real and heartwarming
This book continues Corinneโs journey through life with poise, realism and gratitude for your lifeโs adventure and relationships. I recommend each of her books highly as I could not put any of them down.

a bit of a disappointment
I'd been looking forward to reading this book for a long time, so I was excited when I finally got it as an ebook for my Kindle. That was the first mistake: it didn't come with the photos which accompanied the regular book and which added to its charm. Then the story is less gripping than the first book by this author, slightly repetitive and not very rich. What put me off most however was the amount of printing mistakes in the text, varying from spelling mistakes to repetitions of words. I don't think I'll reread it or recommend it.

Nostalgic Memoir
Such a riveting nostalgic return to her former life. It took courage for the author to do this. I felt that this return was a โmust-doโ for her so that she could reconcile her former life with the life she is currently living.

Grand finale
This book is a great ending to the tale of Corinne who described her African life in 'The white Masai', followed by her tale of return to Switzerland and finally finished with this reunion with her African family. This book needs to be read after the two earlier parts as it gives an account of the come back to the life in Africa she had lived some fifteen years earlier.

Reunion in Barsasloi
It must have taken quite an encouragement to go back to Africa and meet up with her ex husband and family. Very good reading,I enjoyed it very much.

Written With Heart
Written with heart. My only wish is that Ms. Hofmann could have taken her Masai husband with her to Europe at one point - if only to see what the other world is like. I lived in Kenya back in the 70's and know what she must have gone through living at the manyatta and I congratulate her on sticking it out as long as she did. As well, I can easily see how she would have been fascinated by this particular group of people. Nevertheless, some things are not always meant to be forever - even when there is something so precious as a child between two people of such different cultures.

Family Reunion in Africa
To appreciate this book you must read "the White Massai". It is the story of a young Swiss white girl who goes to Africa on a trip, falls in love with a black "warrior" of the Massai tribe in Kenya and marries him. This book is the last of her story of this experience, and the tale of a heart warming reunion with her black family some years later. It is a story of how much a land and it's people can change in a relatively short time.It ends a good biography, and is an excellent translation from the German.

simple story part 2
a simple story told with too many words.. and a lack of content. maybe the author should not keep the real line of her life story and create a novel just inspired by it. the language is quite poor. many of today's bloggers (without reputing themselves "writers") are able to do much better

Excellent series and this rounds it off nicely
I already had the other two books in the series and had read this one on kindle. I enjoyed the series so much I decided to buy the third one and keep for future enjoyment and for my friends to read. As I lived in South Africa for 25 years a lot of the african things meant something to me and I had also been to Kenya briefly.
