WOW!!!!
i just got this yesterday. I was tired of lugging out the mix master to make cookies so i bought this. I had made a batch of peanut butter cookies with the mix master 2 days ago. When i got this today I tried to make a batch with the Cusinart Power Advantage 9 speed. The cookies turned out even better than with the mix master. The machine is SO easy to use. I did not have any of the problems people had with the initial slow speed; I guess if you were mixing liquids maybe but i had no problem at all with butter & sugar. It went thru the peanut butter, butter & sugar so effortlessly that i added the flour & let it mix that also. I only had it on 5 and i felt it had power to spare. It really is a pleasure to use. I love how the controls are set up, and the eject button is very cool. It was not loud at all, the attachments are great and when you're using it, its very stable and even.. It does not feel heavy at all, in fact i felt it was very light. I think its a great value. Really could not be happier with it.

Nice quality mixer!
Great mixer! Good quality! I love the 9 speeds. I never had a nine speed mixer before and its great because it starts slow enough that it doesn't cause flour dust to go everywhere. Also after mixing the beaters have a lot less batter/dough stuck to them. The whisk attachment is handy and works well in bowls that are a bit narrow at the bottom. The storage container for attachments and cord with mixer sitting on top is very nice. I gave this mixer 5 stars because i feel it is a great value and really good product.

Well designed with just right power 220-watt motor.
This PLUS 9-speed hand mixer to me is a really worthwhile machine. As I have purchased and returned two previous mixers. This 220-watt motor is the same that is replacing my old 5-speed with power burst. Since this one has 9 speeds a power burst is not needed with this one. The weight is balanced making for easy handling. I appreciate the large flat area that it rests on. The cord is long enough that I didn't have to remove the twist tie to plug it in. I especially enjoy the stainless-steel wire beaters. I was not sure how much better they would be over the older flat style with the center stem I've been using forever. These are way better all-round. As for all the added stuff that it comes with, I left in the carton it came in. I could not be happier when using this Cuisinart mixer.

A pleasant addition to our kitchen appliances!
I have been using this hand mixer for almost 2 years now. While I may not use it daily or even multiple times each week (depending on the week), I do seem to use it several times a month. I thus far I have not had any difficulties with it. The following are the things I really like about it: - The simple easy to use on/off and speed buttons being at the top - The 9 different speeds. I like how it starts at a slow speed to prevent splattering and the gradual ability to build up the speed. Which the higher up it goes, can be very aggressive. - The solid, non flimsy feeling I have when using it. It isn't heavy but yet isn't too lightweight either. For me it is just the right weight. - The motor has remained strong. I haven't experienced any lagging, whining noises, or the smell of the motor being overworked. The attachments have also always mixed at consistent speeds. - The swivel cord I really, really like! It allows me to position and maneuver the mixer however is most comfortable for me depending on what I am mixing. Plus overall the cord length is nice. - The latch release I greatly prefer. I feel safer having a button that I deliberately need to press to release the attachments. - I like the beaters and chef's whisk attachments. So far there has been no rusting of any of the attachments. - The storage area is nice. I like being able to store the cord and attachments all in one place. While it does still latch easily, I have noticed recently though that there are times when I pick it up by the mixer handle, the mixer comes up off the storage area instead of the whole unit coming together. This by no means is a deal breaker for me, I have just started to grab it by the storage case instead of by the mixer handle. The following are a few observations or things that could be improved: - The dough hooks seem to be most effective with cookie doughs and lighter bread mixes. - The recent inconsistent ability to be able to pick the entire unit up by just the mixer handle when attached to the storage area. As picking it up this way is a preference, however it is still very easy to pick the whole thing up by the storage area and this is like the only tiny pet peeve I have about this product. As I stated up above, this is in no way a deal breaker. Before we bought this, we thoroughly read many reviews and here are a few additional thoughts I have from using it these past 2 years. I in no way feel this mixer is dangerous or that I need to take any extraordinary precautions when using it. As with any appliance, you just have to be mindful of your surroundings and make safe choices. I know some have indicated that the attachments can fall out, I have only had this happen once and it was when I didn't put them into their matching openings. Another reviewer spoke to this and I want to reiterate, there are two different fitted holes for the attachments. Each hole looks slightly different, as do the tops of the attachments. If you correspond them appropriately, I have never had an attachment fall out. When I did make this mistake, the beaters fell out as soon as I pointed the mixer slightly downward, way before I turned it on and then I realized the mistake and just switched them. It was not a big deal at all and just reminded me that I need to be mindful about this before inserting them. Lastly, while getting everything into the storage container can be a little tight, once I figured out how to have everything organized so I could still close it, I've just continued putting everything in there that same way and have had no difficulties with making everything fit. Overall, I have really enjoyed this mixer and would absolutely buy it again!

This mixer makes a great replacement for my old one
I purchased this mixer to replace my old KitchenAid KHM9PWH 9-Speed Professional Hand Mixer that decided it will not work anymore. Before I purchased the Cuisinart HM-90S Power Advantage Plus 9-Speed Handheld Mixer, I did a lot of research on hand mixers that might be suitable for my needs. I ultimately chose the HM-90S for several reasons: 1. Cuisinart seems to be a trusted brand for small kitchen appliances such as hand mixers and blenders. (in my opinion) 2. Extra attachment accessories that it comes with: flat beaters, chef's whisk, dough hooks, spatula, and storage case. 3. Slow start speeds After viewing the product demo video available on Amazon, I noticed that speed 1 of the mixer starts out at a near medium speed for a second or so, but overlooked this minor detail. Compared to many other hand mixers out there that start at medium speed at speed 1 throughout the whole mixing process, it really isn't a big issue for me. Stand mixers are not perfect at it's lowest speed either, yet it costs twice or three times more than this particular mixer. This motor issue that some reviewers talked about seems to be the standard motor startup for newer cuisinart hand mixer models because I noticed that this is the case for the HM-70 model as well. When mixing dough, sometimes it helps to have that split second quick start to help break up lumps in fats and or sugars. I normally use this mixer mainly for baking. If I ever need to mix something that is hot like soup or mashed potatoes, I prefer an immersion blender. Once I received my mixer, I was disappointed to find that the chef's whisk which came with my mixer is much smaller than the one that came with my old kitchenaid mixer. I also found out that the whisk that came with my HM-90S is also smaller than the replacement chef's whisk available on amazon for the cuisinart HM-70 model as well. (In theory HM-70, is not much different from the HM-90S model. The difference between the HM-90S and the HM-70 that I noticed is that the HM-90S has 9 speeds including storage case and the HM-70 has only 7 speeds. All other description of the two models are the same. The design of the two models are not too far off from each other, so why is the whisk for Cuisinart HM-70 - CHM-WSK Hand Mixer, bigger than the HM-90S model?) I finally used the mixer to make cookie dough the other day and am very pleased with the results the mixer provided. It has a powerful motor and is fairly quiet. Much quieter than the cheaper hand mixers out there with fewer speed settings. It is quieter even than some stand mixers I have heard. The split-second higher startup speed #1 never was an issue for me. I found that it did help break up some of the clumps in my wet mixture. If I ever need to add dry ingredients into the wet mixture, I simply lower the mixing speed as I mix the wet ingredients. As the mixer is still on at speed 5 mixing the wet ingredients, I lower the speed to speed 1. I gradually add the dry ingredients to gently stir, then increase the speed if necessary. This prevents ingredients from flying everywhere. I have not used the dough hooks or whisk yet, but I am sure it will be just fine. My only fear is the balloon whisk. I am afraid that the size of this whisk will affect the length of time it will take to whip up delicate mixtures such as meringue or whipped cream. Overall, this mixer is a great replacement for my old one, especially around this time of year when I do my holiday baking. ****UPDATE 12/15/2012**** I have had this mixer for a year now, and it still works as well as it did when I first bought it. Although, I do find the Cuisinart CHM-WSK Hand Mixer Whisk attachment, which is meant for the cuisinart HM-70 model, works a lot better than the whisk that is included with the HM-90S model. My meringue and whipped cream seem to whip a lot faster and produce a more satisfying result for me when I use that whisk attachment. I use the flat beaters, whisk, and spatula more often than the dough hooks. I do not find the dough hooks to be much help for me as I had hoped. All in all, this is still a good mixer even after a year of heavy regular use. *****UPDATE 5/29//2014***** My mixer still works as well as it did when I first purchased it. The attachments and cord are still in tact. I still don't use the dough hooks as often as I use the beaters and whisk attachments. I use the spatula quite often. The storage case is still very convenient to hold all the mixer attachments and spatula including the extra whisk and beater attachments I bought. All in all, this is still a satisfactory purchase.

Works great with thick cookie batter! Definitely a WORKHORSE!!
This works great! Super sturdy and it's a workhorse! I was skeptical, because I have fried three other hand mixers and this one didn't even flinch! Great for making thicker cookie batter and love the case to keep everything together.

Learning together made this kitchen purchase more meaningful
The Cuisinart Power Advantage Plus nine-speed hand mixer was one of my 2016 purchases, and it became a positive experience to share with my child. We learned and explored together, and my child was happy with it. I appreciated being part of that experience and was pleased that a kitchen item could be associated with such a happy response. I also introduced this mixer to a friend's child, who was pleased with it too. It is always satisfying when a recommendation based on your own positive experience is welcomed by someone else. My five-star rating reflects that shared learning and happiness. Looking back, I am glad we had this opportunity to enjoy learning about an everyday household item together.

Works Great So Far
I was a bit wary of purchasing this item. I saw it in a store and thought the beaters might be too flimsy and then read the mixed reviews here and thought maybe it wouldn't be powerful enough or last long. I read the reviews of several other mixers as well, though, and all of them had mixed reviews. I also wasn't sure if the cord placement would bother me or not. My older mixer, which I've had for over ten years, works just fine, but the cord comes out the front (the side with the beaters) aimed in the same direction as the beaters. It's impossible to use it without the cord curving up and either ending up in the bowl or sliding around on the counter (possibly knocking stuff over). It's a nuisance, and the main reason I decided to get rid of the old mixer. Since this Cuisinart mixer also has the cord on the front, I actually decided on another mixer; however, that mixer was out of stock everywhere I looked. In the end, I decided to try this one because I have a couple of other Cuisinart items that have a matching finish, and I liked the idea of the storage case and the whisk attachment. The cord does not bother me at all. The cord comes out of the mixer aimed for the bottom of the mixer, so when you are mixing, it hangs down where it should, and doesn't curl back up toward the mixer. Also, the little thing that allows you to turn the cord one way or another works great to keep the cord out of the way while mixing. So far, I've used this mixer to make chocolate chip cookies and frosting for a birthday cake. My daughter used it to make the birthday cake. The beaters held up well and worked fantastic. I had also wondered if it wouldn't mix well with the wire beaters, but it mixed just fine, better than any other mixer I've used. The lack of a post in the middle of the beaters and the thinner beaters meant that I didn't have excess dough or batter on the beaters either. The cookies came out great. With my old mixer(s), I only mixed the wet ingredients and then stirred in the dry ingredients by hand. I decided to try mixing in the flour with this mixer and it handled it just fine. Actually, it was better than fine. When I mix by hand, it's always difficult to make sure all the flour gets mixed in, and this mixer did that with no problem at all--no pockets of flour underneath the dough. The recipe I used did not make an extremely heavy dough, though. The cake also came out pretty well. This mixer had no trouble mixing the batter well, and the frosting was light and fluffy. So far, I'm very pleased. The one thing I didn't like was storing the cord in with the clean attachments. I solved this by folding up the cord with the attached tie, and then inserting this into a small sandwich bag before putting it into the storage case. This has worked fairly well. I did notice the slight surge when you turn it on that others have noticed. When I turn mine on, it hesitates for a second, then surges slightly, and then slows down to the correct speed. I know this is supposed to be a slow start and it's not really slow, but I didn't find it to be a problem or to make a mess. The slight surge is only for a second or maybe two. Not a big deal for me. I've only had it for a couple of weeks now, so only time will tell if I'll have trouble with the motor or any other problems. For now, I'm very pleased.

The Mary Poppins of Hand Mixers
This baby is practically perfect in every way. I am in love. This was my splurge; my gift to myself that will last a lifetime. All I wanted was a mixer that won't die when I am mixing cookie dough and has a good graduation of speeds. This ticks every box. And may I call your attention to the additional accessories WITH AN ATTACHEABLE STORAGE CONTAINER? 1000% worth it to get this over the 7-speed, and don't even consider any other brand for a hand mixer.
