Works great no issues, make sure you have the correct hose set up.
Background: I am a GC Superintendent for medium to large scale commercial construction projects so all the welding crews we contract bring the big boy equipment. They dont always have time to do mockups or small stuff we need done for owners and architects so I picked up the Plasma DS-55 and the yeswelder MIg 250 pro to keep in my trailer to do odd and ends as needed in a pinch. Iโm super hands on and came up in the trades, so using tools isnโt foreign to me. Its not exactly my first time trying this type stuff but by no means can I call myself a welder or metal fabricator. Iโve been lucky enough to have learned basics on the Millers by some really talented welders and fabricators. Busting these tools out on the project I knew I was gonna get some side eyes hurled my way, but itโs all good, I donโt plan to quit my day job. The DS-55 set up (and 1 minor issue): Wanted to do it on my own see how easy it was for an average person, Set up is easy for the most part. Iโm Using it in the field on a commercial jobsite ran off a temp power spider box, so I can use either voltage. Compressor is my typical 5.2 gallon Makita Big Bor used for framing, tank keeps up with no issues. The fitting installed on the air intake filter is a push connection with a cheap tubing, but it comes with a 1/4โmale quick connect (I think type M) which I couldnโt use because we use larger hose fittings similar to automotive, not sure why but thatโs what our tool yard insists on putting on. I Ran to the depot and swapped the hose and compressor fittings to match the ones sent. With all the parts put on my hose and compressor, thatโs when I realized, they used like a silicone or glue or around the outside of the push fitting into the air filter. I could feel some clear thick substance and the fitting was not easy to unscrew. I donโt know if this was an accident or returned part but in the Amazon add video you see them remove it and swap it out very easy, I had cut the thin layer of whatever off, back the plastic filter with a pipe wrench, use a decent size crescent and slowly break the fitting free. I was already looking up replacement filter because I thought it would snap. I did get it broke free and we were ready to roll. We run commercial electrical OSHA Twist lock plugs so this being a residential style plug I had to grab one of the adaptors I keep around, make sure you know your plug type and the plug type on the machine, or plan to cut the chord and put a new end on which I will be doing next week so I donโt need the adaptor any more. Plugged it In, fired it up, and started cutting everything that was or wasnโt tied down. Worked nicely and cut clean, especially for not knowing the settings very well. I got some extra consumables because not knowing what Iโm doing Iโm assured to burn some up. They send two of the .8 mm and one 1.2mm which will go quick. The yeswelder consumables you order separately are actually measured in inches so the .8mm is the .03โ and the 1.2mm is the .045โ. Make sure to get the ones for the correct torch. Honestly itโs a great machine and even my welders came over and started playing with it and all were super impressed for how small and great it worked. Unless you plan to get a Miller or other high end set up, get this one and you wonโt be disappointed. Worth its weight 10x over and assuming we take care of it properly I see this being around for a while. If your on the fence just get it and you wonโt be disappointed. If something changes I will update the post. You tube: when you search videos they have the old blue DS-55 or the DS-55pro. For the life of me I couldnโt find the standard DS-55 takes the new black and red configuration. The blue set up and filter style is not the same as the new black and red. After watching the DS-55 pro videos I found, it seems this machine is the DS-55 pro itโs just Yeswelder dropped the โPROโโฆ not sure if thereโs any spec or technical differences but if your looking for you tube assist, just watch the 55 Pro, it seems to be the same. Awesome little plasma cutter
Awesome little plasma cutter when hooked to 220v. The 110 option works but the cutting power is very limited, but when hooked to 220 there are zero issues. Cuts sch 80 carbon steel pipe like butter, Stainless steel plate no issues, very pleased with my purchase, easy to setup, easy to use, good value for your money. Perfect machine for my garage shop.

Great value
Great little machine. Have had it about 6 months and not one issue. Have made hundreds of inches of cuts with it. For smaller work, it cuts better and is just more convenient to use than my old H-therm 45 ever was.

The price is right. Yes, you should buy it.
I bought this to try instead of buying a new hand torch for my hypertherm. I'm very happy I did because this plasma cutter kicks but. Goes through 1/2 with no issues. Easy to setup and easy to use. Comes with plugs. Small frame. Takes up no space. Works fast.

led control panel no working when purchased
Looks like would be a great little cutter except the LED panel doesn't light up to show voltage or other settings. Tried 110V and 220Volt and it cuts great at 60 psi through 1/4" stainless but no read out on the panel but looks like it was on full voltage the way it cut. I like it enough to return it and try another one though and hopefully, the LED panel will work on the next unit! second unit was better as discovered the fan wasn't working on the first unit and the second unit had same issue as first one being no LED read out. removed the cover and sure enough, just needed to have wire harness connected and now it works great.

Excellent value
I purchased this mostly to get some experience with plasma cutters. I did have one actual job - which was to cut off a huge number of concrete form ties. The form ties were 1/8" steel. I ran this on a 120V / 20A circuit at a setting of 30A, with air pressure set to 40 PSI. The ties were easily cut in 3-4 seconds. ( cleanup was easy with a little scraping and a wire brush ) I tripped the breaker a few times only when cutting some ties at the bottom of the concrete where the jet of metal could not be easily blown clear and I had the plasma running continuously for maybe 20-30 seconds. To get close enough I had to remove the wire guide/spacer. I also tried cutting some 3/16 steel bar, and some 20ga aluminum and 20ga steel. The thin steel cut very fast and clean. The aluminum was fast enough but not clean. Likely some adjustment of the settings and better technique would help. All in all, I should have purchased one of these long ago and can't believe the utility it provides for not very much money. I might note that I am lucky enough to have an air compressor with a dryer, so it provided very dry air that plasma cutters prefer. At the end of all this I could see some slight wear on the tip, but it was not enough to distort the fine focus of the plasma. Note that the specs say that the post-flow time is 20 seconds, which seems like a lot of air to waste. I didn't really notice that while working, and the 7.5 CFM compressor easily kept up with the demand.

Poor customer service./ fast forward/ Yeswelder replaced my entire purchase.
Why did you pick this product vs others?: Used it a quite a number of times and it worked great!!! However the arc would become intermittent and then finally failed. After contacting yeswelder only by email, because no one would pick up the customer support line , you had to leave a voicemail (which no one returned). After about a week of waiting someone from yeswelder contacted me. I told him of the defect and sent pictures .He said he would send it to the appropriate department. I have sent various emails to yeswelder ona touch replacement. No one has yet to contact me. Its been quite some times since my first review. Yeswelder reached out and replaced my entire purchase.

Great plasma cutter
I use this nearly daily in a one man fabrication shop environment. I have this and a larger thermalarc. I bought this one due to its compact size and light weight while still having quality function and simple use. I typically grab this unless I need to cut something really thick (3/4+) It punches way above itโs price point and Iโm here for it! Bonus use- I think to use it to gouge welds out, which itโs quite good at with the wire ring taken off the porcelain cup. It does leak air a little internally which Iโm sure is just a loose connection that I havenโt looked into. Another win from the folks at YesWelder!

Working Good Again
Machine worked good at first. 10.6.23 Update: Machine will no longer arc. It will cut for about 3/4 of an inch and then quits arcing - Downgrading to 1 star because of this. 10.09.23 Update: Machine is working fine again. I am not 100% sure what the issue was but it may have been a humidity problem / my compressed air not getting dry enough.

Best bang for your buck
I was totally taken a back by this unit; I normally shy away from off brands, I wanted something simple to cut and prep steel for projects and voila I'm here and there is the most cost effective plasma cutter you'll find... 5 stars
