Cloth Diapering Newbies Please Read!!!
I am reviewing these covers because reading reviews was SO helpful to me when I was new to cloth diapering and trying to figure out what in the world to buy. After exhaustive research I decided to start with Thirsties Duo Wrap Snaps and use them along with Green Mountain Diapers Size Small prefolds (yellow stripe). I couldn't be happier with my choice! Prefolds and covers are the most economical choice for cloth diapering and we have saved so much money, not to mention all of the waste that isn't in a landfill. There are a few really great features built into these covers-1. They are adjustable both around the waist and the rise. My daughter is 5 months old, just over 13 pounds, in the 50th percentile for height and weight and we still have plenty of room to enlarge the waist. It's great that they can "grow" with your baby.2. They have leg gussets which really hold in the liquidy poo. We received a diaper cake and some disposable diapers from people who didn't know that we were cloth diapering so we used disposables for the first month and we constantly had blowouts onto our daughter's clothes! With the Thirsties a blowout onto her clothes is extremely rare. The cover really does an amazing job containing everything, just make sure that all of the prefold is tucked in. One complaint about the gussets, they are white which is silly because that makes them harder to keep clean looking.3. They dry really fast. Take them out of the washer and 10 minutes later they are ready to go.4. They aren't ridiculously bulky and I feel like my daughter is comfortable in them. They don't leave red marks on her chubby little legs or tummy.Another thing I was so confused about when I was pregnant and shopping was how many diapers to buy. There was so much conflicting information out there! So I started with 4 Thirsties Duo Wrap Snaps and 1 Thirsties Duo Wrap Aplix. Definitely get the snaps! The Aplix isn't as good because it doesn't hold up in the wash. A couple of times I've changed my daughter and the velcro had come completely undone. I've also read reviews where people said their baby figured out how to undo the velcro and I can totally see that happening when my baby gets a little older. So I have a total of 5 covers and it is JUST enough. I wash a load of diapers every other day. I think 6 covers would be the perfect amount. I have 24 prefolds and that is enough. I ordered 36 and I still have 12 sitting in the original packaging brand new.A few more tips that may be helpful for cloth diapering newbies-1. Don't buy into all the hype about cloth diapering friendly detergent. I literally read for hours about how to strip your washing machine and what detergents work and what detergents don't work and on and on and on. Forget it. If you're going with cotton prefolds and covers then none of that applies to you. I use Tide Original Powder and it's awesome. But don't use fabric softener! It will leave a residue that will build up on your diapers and keep them from absorbing. I bought wool dryer balls and they are AMAZING. They make everything dry faster and help with static.2. Jelly roll fold is by FAR the best for keeping in liquidy baby poo.3. Snappis are awesome.4. You can't use traditional diaper rash creams with cloth diapers for the same reason that you can't use fabric softener...it creates a build-up. So nothing with zinc-oxide. I bought CJ's Butter which is cloth diaper friendly and I like it a lot but it was expensive and you know what? My daughter hardly ever has a diaper rash because cloth diapering is so great. If you do have rash issues, try organic coconut oil, it's awesome.5. Consider using disposables just for the first week when the baby is pooping the meconium. It's a black tarry substance that will definitely stain your nice new cloth.I really, really hope this review helps some new Mommies or just new-to-cloth-diapering Mommies! :)UPDATE: I just finally sized up at 7 months and about 15.5 pounds. She still had room in the waist but had outgrown the rise. I'm still thrilled with the covers (they are still in fantastic condition!) and am continuing on with Size 2s.UPDATE AGAIN: 17 months and we are still going strong in the size 2s. :)UPDATE AGAIN: My daughter potty trained at 17 months right after my last update. Another benefit of cloth diapers is that kids often potty train sooner because they actually can feel when they are wet. I'm now using the same exact prefolds and covers that I used for my daughter on my 3 week old son. They are just as awesome the second time around!

Practical Design, Logical Choice
Full Disclosure: I have not used other cloth diaper systems. I simply chose this one after much research and am very happy with the product. This review is coming from a father's perspective, which I imagine is less common and may therefore be useful for some. The whole baby thing can be pretty overwhelming for first time parents (or even seasoned veterans), so my wife left the research of diaper options up to me. After a lot of time studying up, I decided the Thirsties Duo Wrap Snap was the best option for the following reasons:+ The 2 piece design (cloth tri-fold with outer waterproof cover) allows the covers to be reused at times whereas the fancier insert design requires a change of both the insert and the diaper cover at each changing. This allows for savings in money (fewer components need to be purchased) as well as time (easier to separate and wash) and weight (fewer components need to be lugged around in a diaper bag).+ The snaps are both more secure and longer lasting than the Velcro versions. Snaps do not deteriorate in the wash- Velcro does.+ Thirsties seemed to have a better reputation and longer history with the product than other brands (though I know this is not always indicative of a better product). We therefore placed the Duo Wrap on our registry (Target) and purchased several more from Amazon. The tri-fold/cover systems seem to be quite a bit cheaper than the insert systems, so that was an added bonus. Overall we are very happy with the product. The Thirsties hold up much better to blow outs than disposable diapers (in layman terms, they don't leak liquid poo as often), but as many have suggested, I wouldn't use them until a few weeks after your baby is born as the child's first bowel movements will be the consistency and color of road tar and is near impossible to clean out. Once the breast milk flushes the child out and he/she starts pooping nice shades of yellows and greens near the consistency of tomato soup, swap over to the cloth diapers. Until then, disposables are your friend. The downside of the Thirsties (as with all cloth diaper systems) are as follows:- Larger up front cost. This of course is balanced in the long run and eventually starts saving you money compared to disposables.- Bulk. Cloth diaper systems are bulkier than disposables. This isn't a huge deal, but it can make some onesies difficult to put on at times as the diaper puts considerable more junk in the trunk of a baby. This also adds more weight to a diaper bag. On the bright side, cloth diaper systems make for cute clothing, so you can forgo bottoms and just slap a top on your baby when they need to look presentable. I like this as it cuts down on poop-stained clothes I need to wash in the event of those pesky nuclear assplosions.- Washing. Come on- no one is going to claim they prefer throwing a diaper in the wash as opposed to the trash can. But it isn't as difficult or disgusting as it sounds. You'll be surprised how adorable you find your child's bodily fluids (I haven't experienced the solids yet, so my tune may change). If you breast feed, the smell is actually not bad at all.All in all, I highly recommend the Thirsties Duo Wrap Snaps. Best bang for your buck and a highly reliable system that has a pretty easy learning curve.

Leg fit could be improved
What I DON'T like about Thirsties:1) Thirties covers did not work for my son early on (born at 7.5 lbs) because they would leak. Once he was around 15 lbs I began using the size one again and had better luck. I just recently realized that, although it claims double leg gussets, the outer gusset is sewn in such a way that it doesn't even wrap my son's leg. So essentially the only "working" gusset is the inner one. I have a picture of Thirsties (left) and another brand that I really like (right) and you can see that the other brand truly does have double gussets as the outer one fits next to the leg.2) The white uncovered elastic on the inner gusset stains SO easily! What I DO like about Thirsties:1) The elasticized front flap (elastic under the belly) is super helpful. Another brand that I like does not have elastic here and it can gape.2) In all I really like the fit around the waist and the trim fit over our folded flats, but I think the leg fit could be improved.

A++ I wish I could replace my whole stash with thirsties
One of the best cover in my stash. I would have all thirsties covers if I started over. I use these over fitted diapers at night and find the fit is good on both my almost 3 year old boy who has a really solid build, not chubby but not slim either with a massive fitted diaper under it. Also on my 1 year old who is much slimmer then brother. I like the snaps more then velcro as I get a more secure diaper.the quality is exactly what you expect from thirsties, that is perfect. The size range, the sewing and material are all A+. Fits over all my fitteds not just thirsties too.

White Trim Inconvenient
Disappointed, as I had heard good things about these covers. Would not buy again due to the poorly designed white trim. Bought three to use on top of disposable diapers as we're having lots of issues with diaper blowouts. The cover mostly contains the poo, but the white trim browns and won't wipe clean. So the cover needs to go in the wash most of the time and is nonetheless permanently stained by poo and is gross looking. Now looking to buy new ones from another company.

We love love love these covers
We love love love these covers! Our little girl is very small and thirsties covers have always fit her well. She is 20 months old and just hit 20 pounds recently. Her legs have always been skinny and we generally don't have leaks in these. They have only leaked if she had a super long nap unexpectedly or if they weren't put on properly. I love the double leg gussets and the cute prints. We have these in the smaller size too and they've been our go to cover since she was a newborn. We have used these with pre-folds and fitted's with success. I wash them regularly with the diapers and then hang them to dry and this has kept them like new.

These cover do great in terms of containing poop-splosions
Please Thirsties.... stop trimming your diaper covers in white!!! These cover do great in terms of containing poop-splosions, but a little bit always seeps through the cloth trim on the gusset. It doesn't get through, just enough to stain the fabric. Over time, those stain build up until the trim starts looking yellow. You can't use bleach on these things for fear of damaging the water-proofing. It just seems like a major design flaw to me!

Cute covers, but experiencing some leaks
We LOVE the patterns of the Thirsties diaper covers, but find that we are battling leaks overnight regardless of how we orient the cover. I find that our babe will almost always leak up his back in the night no matter how rigorous our diaper cover check is before putting him to bed. Additionally, the outside of the cover gets damp around the edges, as the fabric wraps from the inside to the outside of the diaper in the leg and torso openings, but the waterproof coating doesn't protect against that wicking, as it is on the inside of the folded fabric edge (obviously for baby's comfort). We like that it is adjustable, and I like the double gusset in the leg. We are going to continue to use these, and hopefully resolve some of these issues as we improve our cloth diapering IQ, as there is always the chance that some of this is user error, not all related to the design of this cover. I like the snap adjustment, as sometimes the velcro one irritates baby's skin if he moves around and the lip gets folded. All in all, I think I would still recommend these to friends, but with some of the above warnings.

I approve
I use these over disposable diapers at night as my 4 month old goes 12 hours and disturbing her to change her makes for a difficult time getting her back to bed. She would wake up wet through to her sleeper and I needed something to protect her clothes.

Worth my money!
I am fairly new to cloth diapering and so I have been going through a lot of trials and errors however, this cover has not dissapointed and I finally feel like I did not waste my money. I pair this cover with a Bummis organic cotton pre-fold and it is the perfect pair.My absolute favorite thing about this cover is the double gusset! I have no idea why other cloth diaper companies would not include a double gusset?? It is spill proof! When looking for a good cloth diaper, cover/pocket/Allin1 etc... go for the double gussets!! All disposable diapers have this b/c it just makes sense. I also love the PUL, very thick and super water proof. My only 'complain' would be the waist snaps, I would love to see them doubled vertically to give a cleaner fit however it still works perfectly therefor, still worth 5 stars.I would most definitely recommend this to a friend. Great buy!

Works ok but I got covers that are better in quality and more affordable
Works ok but I got covers that are better in quality and more affordable. The material is thin and stiff, not as soft as the Rumparooz or KaWaii covers. Also, I find that it unsnaps easily when pulled slightly especially the snaps on the rise. I expected it to be better because of the price and other reviews. But compared to the more affordable KaWaii and Rumparooz covers, the Thirstily covers are disappointing.

We love how these fit on our 8 lb newborn - they keep him dry and will fit him for quite a while still. We also love that they are very easy to use, and they dry very quickly after washing. Perhaps if we were using a smaller insert (we are using old fashioned flat diapers that have to be folded and wrapped around him), the size one may be a bit big for him at this stage. The only down side is that the white trim seems to stain very easily. This colour is very cute, and happens to be similar to the colour of the stains...

Love, Love these covers!
Bought 3 covers in Blackbird, Scottish Storm and Ocean life Whale Tail in Size 1. Great covers, great prints at a great price! Used these covers when my son was 2 weeks old and so far had no leaks or blow outs. Risers are easy to use and fit nicely with Bummis prefolds using jelly roll method. The covers are thinner in material and slightly trimmer than Rumparooz. 2 months in and still look brand new! I do not put these covers in the dryer, dries super fast when hanging. Will purchase more when my son outgrows these!

Love these Thirsties diaoer covers
Love these Thirsties diaoer covers. I ordered all of the Woodland Collection and the prints and colours are very cute. Only reason I'm giving it a 4 is the white trim around the legs. My son just had a #2 and I'm going to have to try to Shout out or sun the stain.

Leg leaks
This diaper cover fits my baby nicely. She's been wearing it for about 4 weeks weighing 7-9 lbs. My biggest negative is that I seem to get more pee leaks out the legs than with some other covers I own. I'm not sure if it's because the inner leg gusset isn't as stretchy (it's straight and not bunched up like the outer one). If I need more covers I'd buy more of some other brands that I have.

they are OK, not the best.
They are nice and work OK, but I have had pee leaks through the leg several times. I have had better luck with other brand. However, I would say they are fine. Sometimes it is a matter of fit.
