This was a lot of fun to build and is also fun to play with after its built. My 7 year old son and I built it together. One problem was that the battery contacts in the IR transmitters are not designed properly for duracell or similarly-shaped batteries. However, I found this can easily be fixed by inserting a little aluminum foil between the battery and contact.

Love the detail of this Volvo Loader! It’s super mechanical and has the look of the real loader! Great LEGO product!

Not cool, I bought it as a gift for my boyfriend's birthday, it was cheaper than the new ones because the box was damaged. When it was opened we found a fake Asian knock off of the product that was nothing like the Lego purchased. This is a scam and should not be purchased, that or a sick prank. I have filed it to be returned as this was nothing it was advertised to be, hiding in the real Lego box.

Es un set muy completo, de más de mil piezas y con el sistema de control remoto y 4 motores diferentes. He pasado unas horas muy agradables construyendolo. Una vez construido, el modelo es magnifico. Totalmente recomendable.

Von allen Lego Technik Modellen ist der Radlader 42030 bis jetzt mit Abstand mein Favorit. Vorwärts/Rückwärts, Links/Rechts, Schaufel heben/senken und Schaufel kippen, 4 Funktionen in einem Modell, Technic-Herz was willst du mehr. Und obendrein sieht das Modell auch noch gut aus. Der Aufbau selbst gestaltet sich zwar natürlich langwierig, es treten aber keine besonderen Schwierigkeiten auf. Angesichts der Komplexität und der Zahl der Teile ein Lob für die Aufbauanleitung. Insgesamt besteht das Modell aus gut 1600 Teilen, und wiegt fertig aufgebaut 3,6 kg. Kleine Kritikpunkte gibt es natürlich immer, insbesondere ist die Fahrgeschwindigkeit jetzt nicht besonders hoch, aber für Fahrten durchs Wohnzimmer reicht es. Spaß macht es dann jedenfalls, mit der Schaufel Lego Teile aufzugabeln und an andere Orte zu verfrachten. Die Unart, statt bedruckter Teile Aufkleber zu verwenden, wird auch hier fortgesetzt, die Menge der Aufkleber hält sich aber in Grenzen. Ich habe mein Modell ohne Aufkleber zusammengebaut, und der Radlader sieht trotzdem (oder gerade deswegen?) gut aus. Da Aufkleber jedoch wohl billiger in der Produktion sind als bedruckte Teile, wird man sich als Lego Fan wohl mit dieser Praxis abfinden müssen. Auch für diejenigen, die den Radlader nicht aufbauen wollen, sondern das Set als Teile-Spender verwenden wollen, dürfte das Set interessant sein. Immerhin enthält es insgesamt 4 Motoren (M, L, XL und Servo), 2 IR Fernbedienungen und 2 IR Receiver und die Batteriebox. Dazu kommen noch 3 Lineare Actuatoren, eine große Schaufel, 4 große Reifen und natürlich jede Menge Strukturelemente. Insbesondere wenn man für eigene Bauprojekte Motoren braucht, bietet sich das Set 42030 an, es ist derzeit das einzige Set am Markt mit 4 Motoren. Für den Betrieb werden übrigens 6AAA Batterien für die Fernbedienung UND 6 AA Batterien für die Batteriebox benötigt, die Produktbeschreibung auf Amazon ist hier unvollständig. Letztendlich ein gelungenes Modell, mit Spaß beim Aufbau, Spaß beim Benutzen und ein Blickfang für die eigene Lego-Galerie. Als einziger Wermutstropfen bleibt der doch recht stattliche Preis, der angesichts der vielen positiven Eigenschaften dann aber doch verschmerzbar ist.

My brother completed this in about 6 hours! I bought this as a surprise for him and his expression when he saw the box was priceless.... The only niggle was that I received a slightly damaged box that looked like it could have been opened before.. Luckily the contents were complete and I'm completely satisfied with the product!

2 ans que mon fils attendait ça. ça coute un bras ou presque tout de même. Mais on comprend pourquoi : il est énorme l'engin mais là c'est un vrai tracto et la télécommande est géniale. Il ne lui a fallu qu'une journée pour le monter à 11 ans. Impressionnant quand on voit le livret qui fait 1cm d'épaisseur ! Si vous aussi, vous hésitez, franchissez le cap ! Comme moi et mon fils vous ne regretterez pas. On s'amuse bien !!

I admit to a full on regression to childhood with this Lego set. I loved Technic Lego as a child, and always yearned for a motorised set, without success. A few years on and in the position to afford it, I treated myself to this set as a Christmas present. It's huge model, with 1200+ parts and when I first opened the box, I was amazed at the amount of pieces and the thickness of the instruction manual. 200 pages! The quality of the presentation, the manual,everything really, is first class and high quality - really impressed both in feel but also control as all parts present, well made and worked first time. Building wise I was surprised how long it took to actually build, taking me around 15 hours spread over several evenings. On the whole reasonably straight forward with only one or two tricky bits (make sure you have all the hydraulic arms extended to the same length before putting them in as no way to reset them once in place). It's worth stopping occasionally to take stock of how it's progressing. The early steps where the drive shafts are plumbed in is an engineering marvel, but easily missed in the desire for progress. I'd also recommend testing the motors and battery box once they are in, as I had a random issue with the battery box which meant removing some bits - but it was my fault rather than the kit. Once built, this is a large and impressive model. It drives well, though the complexity of the four-wheel drive means it suffers a bit from drive lag and the steering is off/on, not variable, which in a flagship model, I found a bit disappointing. Makes it look like a fish swimming when driving! The motors and drive train parts are, in my opinion, close to their limit here as well in terms of being able to drive/lift more than just the basic model. Put more than just a little bit of strain in anything and cogs start slipping with a rather awful sound that you know isn't good. Once complete, it's also robust - my 18month old has had a good go at chasing/bashing/lifting it and so far, it's remained in one piece. The engineering again is both clever and educational in that every part if reinforce - sometimes immediately, others later on - with the whole working brilliantly. So aside from some very minor niggles, this is a superb, wonderful model that I without reservation recommend for a teenager (it is complex to build and requires patience and dedication so in my view it is a teenager) or adult.
