Well-designed but poor quality control
The design is good and very versatile however the quality control was sub-par. We had to reassemble some of the pre-assembled parts because they were not assembled properly and holes didn't line up for bolts to go through. Also one of the T-knobs didn't have an actual nut on the inside and was therefore unusable. Had to go to home depot and find a nut in that size. Honestly for the price I expected better. However if these defects weren't there I would have been happy with the quality of the materials and the design.

Great Kayak Rack!
Overall I very much like this product, it holds my kayaks in place very well when we go and so far I do not regret this purchase. Since I can fold it down I never take it off my car unless I absolutely have too. I do agree with the other reviewer that assembly was a bit difficult because some holes were not lined up but I was able to get it together, so no biggy. If I could say one thing I wish it had is to sets of tie-down guides if that whats they are called. Personally I don't think you will regret it if you buy it!

Worth every dollar.
Worth every dollar!!! Obviously the cross bars on your vehicle matter. This kayak, canoe or paddleboard rack by Malone comes with everything needed. Good fit. Strong. I carry a large 3 person kayak and a paddle board with it. No problems.Only con - It is easily removable and can be stolen quickly. Zero security.

NOT for SUPs
This rack says it is for use with Stand Up Paddleboards (SUPs), but that is not the case. So only read this review if you are considering buying this product for your SUP.Their solution for SUPs with the Malone Foldaway is to fold it down and strap it on the top. They give you two loose pieces of foam to put on their device. It's obviously an afterthought and a marketing idea (that worked on me). That's exactly what you would do if you did NOT have this product. You would just strap it to the built in rack (that you already must have to install a Malone Foldaway). You certainly can't attach two SUPs, which is what I was hoping. As I see it, there is a very specific market for the Malone Foldaway. If you routinely carry TWO lightweight kayaks (under 85lbs. each). It's not rated to carry my two ocean kayaks. If you only have one kayak, you don't need the dual aspect. Otherwise, there is nothing different about this than just using the plain old rack your vehicle already has on it, maybe with a piece of foam.Security. Some people mention it is easily stolen. That might happen I guess. There are 16 hand tightened knobs that hold the hold thing on but to remove it, you only need to undo eight of them. It took me about six minutes when I removed mine, but I knew exactly what I was doing. So I don't know that I would worry about that so much.As far as its construction and durability, it's probably fine when used with two lightweight kayaks, so make sure if you buy it, that is your intended use.

Does NOT Fit TracRac Bars
First, let me say that I am, in general, very happy with any Malone products I have used in the past, and I am using their kayak folding J cradles on my TracRac now. These cradles seem to be well made, however, they do not fit TracRac bars, and there is no way to adapt them to fit- the spacing between the pairs of mounting bolts are just too narrow to fit. I would have hoped that Malone would know this, and either redesign this or at least let buyers know. Very disappointed that I have to return this and try to find something that will fit.

Just what I wanted. Did the job.
Exactly what I needed for half the price of the high end stuff. Easy to mount. Plenty of straps and lines for two kayaks. Carried both for 4 hours at 80 mph. I did use stronger ratchet straps then the ones that with the kit. The straps in the kit loosened at high speed. I mostly wanted the rack so I’m OK with that. Edit: I thought the rack was an upside down T, but was an L with an extra footing. This worked out fine, better actually, because one of my boats is taller than the other. I moved the extra "foot" out a couple of inches for the trip back. Again, no issues. Happy with my purchase.

Second kayak holder doesn’t actually attach to the first one, only to the car...easy to use!
We are using this system for one kayak for now, until we purchase another one. It was was easy to install. The only confusing part was that the section that holds the second kayak does not connect to the section that holds the first kayak. Pictures were misleading on here. I kept trying to figure out how to connect it. The directions weren’t clear about that part. I’m really happy about my purchase. It’s easy to use.

Fantastic Kayak Mount
Super easy to install, ignore the alignment comments. The anchor plate slides without a bolt in it, just slide it into position. Virtually NO noise going down the highway. 10/10 would recommend, especially if you can get it on sale.

👎When i was fitting the rack to my roof rack one of the bolts just exploded- sheared off, it was one of th locking mechanism coach bolts and barrel nuts, I’m not at all happy, could some one replace it please, I have looked around too try and find some sort of replacement but wit no luck, hope you will look into this.ThanksDavid Le Monnier
