ABUSMini Ultra 410 Bike U-Lock

I love it.
I love this lock, as it's well made, quick to lock & unlock, mounts sturdily on the bike frame, the d-loop is large enough to enclose both the rear wheel "through the triangle" and the pipes of most security racks, and the cable is long enough (but not too long) to loop through the front wheel and frame & back. It's a heavy lock & cable combo, but my bike is pretty light, so it works well for me.FULL DISCLOSURE: I'm just a customer that paid full retail price for this and didn't get any incentives from anyone to write this review. :o)

Best U Lock
As a daily commuter, I have found this U lock to meet all my needs. It's large enough to lock to most bike parking and posts, yet not too heavy to carry around everywhere. It's durable and holds up for a long time and resistant to theft. I've used this model for 4-5 years with one replacement after it locked up one winter (which has eventually happened to me with every kind of U-lock I have ever used). Overall, I like this one the best.

Lock & Cable Saved My Precious Ride!
Some jerk tried to bag my precious bike. Abus 410 and its righteous cable stopped him. Guy almost hacked the cable though. It held up!

Great value
So lots of bikes get stolen in the DC area from the metro lots. Mine hasn't. Of course, mine is a Chinese bike that is matte black with no labels. . .I had, and lost, a Kryptonite Forgedaboutit lock. That was super nice and sturdy. Also, three times the price and weight. Sure, thieves can get my bike easier with this lock. . . but this lock cost a LOT less and still seems far better than most other commuters are using on their bikes.

Tough lock that provided nice security when it worked
Tough lock that provided nice security when it worked. In less than a month, the double bolting mechanism failed. Only one side would unbolt. Googling ABUS 410 ultra failure can send you to a stackexchange.com link that describes the whole problem. After using the recommended fix from stack exchange I was able to unlock the lock, but in the process it scratched the paint on my bike. I've lost confidence in this lock and in ABUS after using this lock.

Mechanism broke after 5 uses, 4 months in temp-controlled indoor storage..
Update: ABUS support was very helpful and provided me with a refund. Maybe I just got a bad unit but I was happy to see they stand by their products.Lock is lightweight and good price, but after FIVE uses, the latching mechanism stopped working altogether. I could understand this if it was used often in dusty condition and got jammed, but this was for my wife's new bike which she rode 5 times (in nice weather conditions) and was stored in a temperature-controlled indoor bike storage room in our apartment building for 4 months.I will be seeking a full refund from Abus but have seen comments on the internet that they sometimes do not honor the warranty. I hope that is not true.

A lock for all seasons....
This lock is sturdy, safe and it is a good size for bikes. Think about where one wants to hook it up but with the cable and the lock I feel secure in this neighborhood... in less secure areas I might want a thicker lock. The construction of this one persuaded me it was the right choice and after a month it is.

I wanted something sturdy but didn't want to pay the big bucks
I wanted something sturdy but didn't want to pay the big bucks. This was at a nice price and came with a cable. I attached it to my bike and it's been working well. I'm happy with my purchase.

Good value lock
Pretty good for the price (so good I bought two) - sold secure silver rating. Hard to fault it, but it would be nice if it had come with a couple of Velcro straps to hold the cable in place; plus a cover for the keyhole as it does has a tendency to stick after a while, esp riding in all weathers, so loses a star. When you start to have problems with the key/lock, flush it through with wd40, leave it a while then apply a dry chain lube to all the openings, waggle the key in the lock a few times and you should be good to go, I need to do this every 2-3 months to ensure smooth operation.

Does the job
Good solid lock ideal for locking up your bike for short periods of time. I use on a Carerra Sulcata, and I have had to attach alongside the back wheel. The bracket is too small for the top bar and too big for the bars down to the rear wheel, so I've had to pack it out with a bit of garden hose. A wider range of fitting adapters would be nice. It's a good solid lock though, I'm not a commuter cyclist and my bike lives in a locked, alarmed garage so mine doesn't get a huge amount of use, so can't comment on durability or long term reliability.

A decent lock for the money
A nice looking lock keys I feel are not cut accurate what I mean by that it was not at all simple to put into the lock mechanism I lived up with a bit of wd40 and gave it a bit of giggery it’s listening up but not great a bit of a fiddly lock but hey to be fair for the money it’s good I lock up my motorcycles with chains and locks worth over £ 200 so can’t complain

OK as a second bike lock
I brought this as a lock for my front wheel and frame plus to use the cable on my saddle as I have a Sold Secure Gold lock for my back wheel and frame. This lock isn't good enough to use on it's own for bikes that are worth stealing. Whether your bike is worth stealing depends on what area you are in and most lock just act as a deterrent except if your bike is really expensive.

Sturdy enough for daytime use
I'm not sure if trust this if I were leaving my bike in a public place overnight, but as a small, light-ish lock for my son to use at (primary) school, it's good enough. Certainly sturdier than cable locks or similar.
