It converts the TA4 plug to xlr and utilizes phantom power to allow it to go into a mixer. I use one along with a Rolls MM11 push to talk switch for stadium PA announcing. **Q: What else do I need to buy besides this headset and a set of speakers in order for this work?** A: This headset as just a wireless microphone. You can't just plug a microphone directly into a set of speakers. You will need some sort of audio amplifier (an "amp") to boost the signal that goes to the speakers. The Amp should also have a loudness control (and possibly balance and tone controls if you really care about sound quality).
