The blades only run vertical, but not horizontal. This means you can cut strips up to 144 inches long. The Accuquilt can cut up to 6 layers of cotton. So get your 144 inch long fabric, or 42 inch in your case, accordion fold the fabric on the die, place your cutting mat on top, and run it through the machine. This will give you the strips the length you need. Remember this is a 10 inch wide board, so it will only work in the GO! or GO! Big, it won't fit in the GO! Baby. When the seams are sewn, it finishes at 2 inches. **Q: Will this work with a Sizzix Big Kick?** A: Most Sizzix machines will not work with Accuquilt dies and vice-versa. The exceptions are the Accuquilt dies that are narrower than 6 inches, such as the Go Baby dies. The Go 2.5 strip die is too wide for the Sizzix. However, it should be noted that there are lines printed on the die that can be used depending if you are making strips cut on the bias at an angle (30 degree, 45 degree, 60 degree) or a straight cut (90 degree) . Bias cut strips have more ability to stretch. When you can cut your own bias strips, you can save a lot of money compared to buying precut bias strips, not to mention the convenience and creativity you can lend to a project. The actual strip is 23" long, so folded fabric would produce a 46" strip. The cutting mat I use is Accuquilt #55113 for Accuquilt Go cutters. It fits this die perfectly. It also works with several other strip cutter dies. You will find that you are creating quilt projects that are something you can have pride in and enjoy for years when using the Accuquilt GO! I would buy this again. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 1 1/2 (1"), 2 1/2 (2"), 3 1/2 (3") inch band for all of your sewing needs *by S***Y on May 3, 2016* Of course I bought this strip to bind my quilts, and I love all of the Accuquilt products, but I also use this strip cutter when I make tee shirts. I make a lot of very light weight knit v-neck tee shirts for scorching hot summer days to wear over camisoles. I use the strip cutter to cut the neck bands. I get perfectly cut bands. It doesn't stretch or destroy the knit in any way. Any time I need a 2 1/2 inch band of any fabric for any reason, I throw it on the strip cutter and into the Accuquilt GO. I am eyeing my 3 1/2 inch strip cutter for waistbands for shorts.... I think the Amazon descriptions could be more helpful. When they lumped all of the Accuquilt strip cutters together, we seem to have lost the finished width - the most important piece of info.
