Logitech G213 Prodigy Wired RGB Gaming Keyboard - Black

Pros !It's a good keyboard for the money you pay.It is slim and quiet (it's a membrane keyboard) but precise when you type.It has a very fast response.It has RGB Backlight 5 zones I can work with that... actually, you can separate the size of the letters in 3 different color zones, which will help nothing wrong with that !And this is just my personal preference. I love that the keys are digged in the board so no light leaks around the keys. I am not a fun of floating keys on top of the board.CONS :* NO Macrokeys That is the biggest con for me!I would love to have 6 macros programmable G Keys on my little finger. I used to have and used a G105 That was great... ( 9 years abused and heavily used :))* Backlight Quality is inconsistent, Some keys letter are not uniform lighting, and if you would not know where the letter should be it gets hard to read... So for that reason, the backlight for 25 percent of the keys is totally unusable* The FONTS... well... maybe I am the fussy one but the Fonts, just can not stand with them.The arrow signs... bleah.. The small symbols are so poorly drawn.. if you don't know exactly where each symbols are on what key, it will be a challenge to find out what the symbols is...

Had it a few days and so far amazing. Maybe I have a bias because I came from a worn keyboard but compared to my last one it is a upgrade in every single way. Typing and gaming is good. It even has a game mode button that does a lot but my favorite is that windows key doesn't pop up windows so you can possibly use it as a extra keybind or atleast not open windows mid game on accident. Lightwight for its size and seems durable. LED's are easy to control and synce. All the audio buttons are comfortable, nice quality and additions on the top right actually come in super useful. The bottom comes out to support your hand more and makes it way more comfortable Loving it so far. UPDATE: After having this keyboard for a few months the only possible complaint I could make if I was being super picky are.1 LED are not the brightest.(More than bright enough for me) 2 The keyboard is bigger and takes up more space, ( I personally love it because of comfort.) 3 It's definitely not silent when typing but from my experience on the quieter side than most keyboards.

This wired keyboard is an oldie but goodie! It has great quality for the keys, and the build quality is solid. Feels light to the touch, but it does NOT miss that great Logitech build quality! I have had this keyboard for over 5+ years, and it has never failed me. No key failures, no breaking of the keyboard, nothing. It worked terrifically, and I was able to keep it until I eventually bought a new one.This keyboard has nice RGB and works with the Logitech G Hub application, if you wish to use that. It is a WIRED keyboard, so be aware of that, but honestly, you already know that! This keyboard is much older, but still so good! It is affordable, but the build quality is SO nice that I don't really have any complaints.I changed out of this keyboard, NOT because it broke, just because I wanted to change my setup from a black setup to a white setup that I changed not long ago! I still use a Logitech keyboard, just instead, upgrading to a Logitech G715, as it was a nice white keyboard, with clicky keys.

Pretty nicely built and design quality however I've had some issues with mine right out of the box. Some keys don't actually work upon press and you have to press it REALLY hard for it to work. It could just be mine because I do have that bad luck in getting the bad version of things, The keys are not too loud and do sound nice to hear, feels nice as well to press and both the keyboard and box it came in was pretty big but I'm sad I didn't try to return it sooner incase it was just the one I got. Overall, If it worked I'd a hundred percent use it till it broke.

Honestly a horrible keyboard. It feelss okay at the start, or at least it did for me. It seemed just fine, lightweight, looks pretty, has a numpad and fold out pegs for elevation. The issue comes with this blasted mech-dome style. The membrane on the inside of the keyboard isn't secured as well as it probably should be and as a result if the keyboard is flipped upside down, or even jostled wrong the membrane becomes misaligned and it becomes extremel hard to type sometimes resulting in dropped or repeated inputs.I'm going to be leaving any typos resulting from the keyboard acting up like another user did just to show how annoying it can be sometimes. It actually feels like it's behaving pretty well for this review.Being a keyboard kinda meant for gaming it feelss horrible to play with when you get a dropped key while trying to play something that requires precise inputs or at a minimum requires inputs to not fail whatever task you're preforming. I play a lot of games and to put it bluntly it is beyond frustrating because it will happen at the worst possible time to the worst possible key. I've had other Logitech keyboards that don't preform this poorly, and this isn't even an issue with breaking it, it was like this out of the box.I've had to take it apart multiple times to realign the membrane which means the stoppers on the bottom are just permanently removed. I can't be bothered to continue putting them back on and taking them off every single time I have to reposition the membrane.

Updated to 5 stars. There is a setting to turn off idle mode, but I couldn't find it and I (thought) looked everywhere in the Hub app. A nice support person in the Logitech chat showed me how to find it and now keyboard works the way I want it to. Good customer support and great keyboard.This keyboard worked well when I first installed it. But after a few weeks, it failed to retain the last color I used and I had to manually cycle through the colors every time I turned on the computer. While not a big deal, it was a needless hassle. I wished I just kept it like that because I made the mistake of downloading the Logitech Hub and now it's worse as the lights don't stay on. When I begin clicking the buttons, it'll come back on. That's not what I want. I want the lights on all the time until I shut the computer down. The lit keyboard assists me when I come back to my computer to continue using it. It worked like this when I first installed it, but the Hub "updated" my keyboard and now they won't stay on, grrrrrr. I've looked through every setting in the Hub, but nope, can't find how to keep them on all the time. Another cheap computer component that doesn't work, fantastic. Other than that, I like this keyboard, one of the few I can turn off the color cycling and just have one color.

My old keyboard is a Logitech is a backlit K740. I really like this keyboard and I still do. It works great and since it's wired USB I never have to worry about constant battery replacement. The problem was that after years of use it's beginning to show its wear. So I came back to Amazon looking for the same model - don't do that. You'll find them for $300. Crazy! So, what did I do? I bought this Logitech G213 Prodigy keyboard.I like it. The keys are tactile and easily used. The keyboard will default to a crazy adolescent rainbow color program. This was the only thing that gave me pause but I'm getting up there in age and the eyes aren't like they used to be and I really needed a backlit keyboard. So, here's the solution:I'm not sure what you would need to do if you're on a Windows environment. You'll need to do your research. However, I'm on Linux Mint and found that two simple commands allowed me to set the keyboard color to white. For you Linux users just open a terminal and install the g810-led app. To set your keys to white, the command is: g810-led -a ffffff. That's it. If you want to adjust the brightness of the backlight, the option is -b followed by a brightness percentaage. So, if you want to set the backlight to white and the brightness to be not so bright then enter:g810-led -a ffffff -b 50This sets the color to white and the brightness to 50%. Easy. You can also set the function keys to a different color than the rest of the keyboard or any number of other options. Or, you can just let it do its crazy rainbow color shifting psychedelic randomness. Bottom line, once I gained control of the colors and the brightness, the keyboard was absolutely what I needed.The keys do sit a tad higher than the 740. But they feel good. The print is large enough to easily see and not obnoxiously large. For the kids, the keyboard has a game mode that disables some keys so gaming is not interrupted. This is done with the push of one button. It has a 10 key pad on the right plus some nicely positioned keys that control computer sound as well as video controls. The backlight can be toggled on and off with one button. The keyboard looks like it's constructed well and of Logitech high quality. It's a handsome board.I will hang on to my 740 though like a well used favorite shirt. It will sit in reserve in the event I need another board. But for this one, the price was right and it fit my needs.

The speed, weight, response times, and stability of this keyboard are all spot on perfection. The sound quality makes them almost silent but its an ok sound, not great, not bad. The keys themselves are lacking in durability, I removed a few key caps (yes I did it the right way) to see if I could put some other keycaps I had purchased over them to improve both the sound and feel but not only did I figure out the bottoms of the keys are some type of odd proprietary modification on the bottoms which made the keys unable to be switched out for almost any half decent replacement. The keys themselves also scraped slightly each time one was removed which is very odd with how little force they take to come off, like they were made to be a bit flimsy. It seems like decent value for money, a better, slightly less compatible, slightly flimsier keyboard, with less keys but costs $50 dollars less than the competitors.Edit: Best keyboard I have ever owned, no keyboard has ever felt this right, I felt the same way with the Logitech mouse I got and it seems you really can't go wrong with high rated, high end Logitech products. Still not happy with the compatibility issues with most key caps but I wouldn't wish a different keyboard on anyone with the feel, sound, and reaction time. I really hope this keyboard lasts.Edit 2: I keep spilling pop on this, at a certain point it feels like I perform magic tricks bringing this keyboard back from the pop covered depths of despair I put it through. Idk how it even still works but not only does it still work, none of the key's stick... mostly. A few stick but I'll fix that mountain dew flavored problem soon enough. Just have to pull off the keys with the plastic keyboard puller of doom and get down in there with a few of those lovely ear cleaning tips you can buy at any back ally store. I didn't even do it that well, just used regular ol water on the que tips and scrubbed each. Then clicked each key about 200 times and it's good to go. Ps. I left it connected and in internet explorer, I am truly mad.

I can't believe the poor quality of this Loiech keyboard. As I write this review I'm going to leave all the mistakes and letter keypress fails as is. I owned a 213 (as you can see so far, the letter g (had o press twice) and the letter t don't always reister) previously for many ears and loved it. I sent the firs brand new keyboard back because not only did some keys not reister a all but sometimes, certain specific keys entered as 2 keystrokes. Te nice, qualiy braided cable has been replaced with a cheap plasic/rubber one. I don't know whha Loitech is hinking. I have for many years exclusively purchased Logiechh because of he awesome quality, even thou it costs more. I thhink that's about to chane. Not recommended.Just to be clear, I don't hunt and peck for kepresses. I touch-ype. I wrote this review slowl and made sure to press e keys properly. Every spelling misake due to missing and double pressed letters in this review is the result of this ver poorly made keyboard that I'm now going to return. Also, his is being ped on the replacement for the 1st one I ordered which was equally bad. Shhame on Logitech!Las comment: I almost never write poor reviews. I'm not a complainer but this keyboard (and its replacement) is horrible.UPDATE...It’s been a couple of weeks since the above review. When I received the 2nd keyboard and it was just as bad as the first, I decided to contact Logitech directly to see if this was a known problem or if there was a recall on the keyboards. The Tech Support rep was surprised to hear my story and said that Logitech was unaware of ongoing issues with the G213 Keyboard. Rather than return the 2nd keyboard to Amazon and perhaps get a 3rd defective keyboard, I took Logitech up on their offer to send it directly to them for a replacement. It took a couple of weeks, but when the transaction was completed, I received a brand-new keyboard direct from Logitech and this one works perfectly. I’m once again a Logitech fan.A couple of notes about buying on Amazon. I don’t know exactly how things work between Amazon and its suppliers, but I don’t believe the original 2 defective keyboards came from Logitech per se. The replacement I received directly from Logitech came in a sealed box and the keyboard itself was wrapped in a cellophane type of material. I don’t remember that being the case with the 1st keyboard purchased from Amazon. It’s possible that it was a return or even a refurbishment. When I got the 2nd defective keyboard through Amazon, it wasn’t even in a box, it was just thrown in a shipping container with some bubble wrap. It was most likely returned by another customer because it was defective and the supplier just shipped it out to the next customer. Perhaps this whole ordeal wasn't a reflection on Logitech at all. This new keyboard is perfect.

I don't need a complicated keyboard, and the G213 is about as good as it gets at an affordable price. Aesthetically, its simple all black design is perfect. It has the right amount of RGB for my preference with the letters/characters of each key lighting up rather than a full back light which can be visually distracting to me. Despite being an all plastic build, it's sturdy enough for everyday use; I've seen many YouTube reviewers citing low quality materials used and flimsy build, but I don't see any of those problems, and no reasonable person will forcefully try and twist the keyboard just to prove a point.Typing on the G213 is satisfying enough. Its key press pressure is light, and while I prefer slightly heavier pressure, I'm used to them now. The clicks are shallow and light, and probably not as satisfying to listen to as a pricier mechanical keyboard. The RGB is on the weaker side, which I don't mind at all. The G203 is much brighter than the G213, so I lowered the G203 brightness and increased the G213 brightness and it looks fine to me. Being a budget keyboard, the uniformity of the RGB is spotty, especially when looking down from an angle, which is all the time, but not a deal breaker for me.I bought the G213 with the G203 mouse during Amazon's Black Friday sale, and am happy with both products. They both use Logitech's G Hub, which for all intents and purposes is much too large a program (if I recall, 500+MB? I could be wrong) to control a few Logitech peripherals. I mentioned in my G203 review that upon start-up the RGB desyncs from my preferred settings, and I have to reset the dynamic lighting in order for keyboard and mouse to breathe in sync, and may randomly throughout the day desync for no reason, which is a minor annoyance to rectify, but may become a frustration if I have to keep doing it in the long term.
