Steve Lukather is one of the most celebrated guitar heroes in rock history...and not just for his work with the mega-successful band Toto. Here Steve brings you his magic with 7 tracks including Hero With a Thousand Eyes, Freedom, Never Walk Alone and more!

what a show!
any fan of great guitar playing will appreciate this dvd. what am i saying....anyone who appreciates great ANYTHING playing will dig this dvd!!!!not only is the guitar playing of Steve Lukather blazing, but you've got the karizmatic mastermind, David Garfield, on keys; the ever-grooving John Pena on bass; and the inimitable Simon on drums (do i even have to say "Phillips"?)the thing i like about this, more than anything, is the pure respect these guys have for the music, each other, and the audience..... well, what else would you expect from a group like this?! they effortlessly burn thru 7 originals and 2 very cool covers with the finesse, chops, and confidence that the rest of us could only hope to possess.it is a shame that the last 2 songs weren't included (as Ingo mentioned) however, as it stands, "Steve Lukather: In Concert" is an outstanding addition to my modest collection of live music dvds. the picture is brilliant, and the mix is strong and punchy.the only (and i mean "ONLY") thing that disappoints me is that we don't get to see Steve's left hand during the melody of "dismemberment".....how the HECK did he do that????? oh ,well....i guess there has to be SOMETHING left to our imaginations.....like the previous reviewer says, "BUY NOW" - thanks, Ingo!

Luke's Lobotmys
Killer fusion with the man Mr. Steve Lukather leading the pack!!! Excellent audio of some of Los Lobotomys best work. Primarily taken from the "Candyman" CD, they absolutely smoke this set from start to finish!! Highly recommended!!! Simon Phillips - drums, John Pena - bass guitar & David "Creatchy" Garfield on keys.

Great musicianship, weak songs
I've played guitar for a long time and think Steve Lukather is an outstanding electric guitatist. The rest of the band are excellent musicians as well, but all of the songs, save for Hendrix' "Freedom", is little more than garden-variety blues/rock with some fusion and jazzy strains sprinkled into the mix.The audio is tinny and the director makes an all too common error that has become pandemic in music perforance videos: directors who show the wrong guy on screen while another guy in the band is soloing. Such is the case on the tune, "Party in Simon's Pants", a showcase for drumming force Simon Phillips. While Philllips tears it up, we are shown just about everyone else in the band. Either the director had no clue, or the cameras were in the wrong position. Additionally, the video producers made the mistake of letting the audience stand right next to the stage, and this obstructs the camera's view, esp. of Lukather, the star of the show. Just plain dumb!I read all the other folks' rave reviews of this DVD and I don't get it. Lukather has shown he can pen good songs, and just about all of the tunes here are tepid. The group really sparkles and percolates on Hendrix' "Freedom." Sorry, one great song is not worth purchasing this DVD. You can find the "Freedom" video track on the Ohne Filter compilation DVD...you get more diverse artists and the best tunes...get that instead. The biggest challenge for musicians with great chops is finding the right vehicle to showcase their talents. The songs on this disk fail miserably in that regard.Pass on this one...don't buy into the hype of the other reviews posted here. Save your money!

... fan of Simon Phillip's playing and I have always liked Lukather's playing
I bought this video because I'm a big fan of Simon Phillip's playing and I have always liked Lukather's playing. The audio is good but the video is terrible. A big part of the pleasure of viewing home video's is enjoying the excellent audio and video quality of the DVD's. Had I known I would not have purchased this DVD. It would be helpful if the overall quality of DVDs was mentioned in the advertisements so that buyers could make an informed decision.

INCREDIBILE

A cut above
I'm not a big Steve Lukather fan, although I've seen him before with Toto (on video) and heard numerous tracks featuring his playing. Though not a huge fan, I've always been impressed with his playing so I thought I'd give this DVD a try.I'm glad I did. It's probably one of the best music DVD's I own (and i own a lot). Most music DVDs are duds. I know of no other way to put it. There are a number of areas that they fall short in, the most common failing being in the way they are presented. Too many good performances have been ruined by over aggressive editing, faulty sound sychronization, and directorial meglomania.Thankfully this DVD suffers none of those. The music is presented simply, without 'creative' embellishments, and provides an honest representation of the band in a live setting. The picture is not wide screen, nor is it Hi-Def. It seems to be taken from a TV source. The sound is fine.. no problems there. So while it aint the latest and greatest hi-tech-wise.. it is certainly acceptable, and doesn't detract from the viewing experience. As for the performance, it's sort of what you'd expect. It's not the second coming of Led Zeppelin but it's pretty damn good. The musicians are all extremely competent and are all given ample opportunity to cut loose. Lukather is the centerpiece of course, and he shines. If you are any kind of fan of his, don't hesitate to pick this up. If you aren't a fan, you may become one after seeing this. Enjoy.

the best Steve Lukather's dvd live
I was in the Paris Elysée Montmartre's date, and it was great : jazz-rock, rock (heavy), big sound in ballads like Dave Gilmour : all the musicians were incredible (special thought for Simon Phillips who smashed his "piano-drum").This dvd is a good trace of that (even if it's a small piece of the real live)Steve Lukather is a great guitarist !Buy it !
