Lovely set of themed coloured pencils. Nice range colours to be used in addition to a more complete set.Good quality pencils for amateur artist or hobbyist. Smooth, not scratchy and good coverage.Good price .Looking forward to using them in future pieces of artwork.

Let’s get the negative out of the way. Whether the colours in this set are ‘perfect for portraits’ as claimed is highly debatable. As you can see from my colour swatch chart, there are some alarmingly bright shades in there. No green either, I hate portrait sets that don’t include an olive green, not only for eyes, but many skin tones have green undertones. I could have layered to make a green (for the eyes) on more textured paper but this was an ordinary journal & didn’t have enough tooth.So I found the colour selection frustrating as the pencils themselves are lovely. They’re soft and blend and layer well (given a paper with a slight grain). I’m not sure about lightfastness, I’d have to do a little more research before I used them for any kind of commission or work that I may display myself. And you can use the softest of touch to get a very light layer which, given the brightness of the colours supplied, is just as well.Having said that, I loved the Davys Grey for building the shape of the face. From there, I just added a smattering of colour to suggest skin tones & shade. I’m going to re-do this portrait on heavyweight cartridge paper or watercolour paper & probably default back to my Polychromos & Luminence for the range of shades, perhaps with a watercolour pencil underpainting as I only have this one portrait set of the Castle Art pencils and I find the colour selection restrictive. I would highly recommend these pencils for anyone looking for budget pencils that behave like more professional pencils - they have the softness, blendability and layering capacity needed to work as you would with any of the more expensive lines on the right paper. I’d perhaps not rely too much on their colour selections though & perhaps recommend getting the largest set you can afford so you can make your own selection.

I was gifted a lovely colouring book so needed some appropriate colours to do it justice. Have to say these exceeded my expectations and are excellent. Soft and able to be blended they can be used to produce some lovely work. They also sharpen easily to a fine point if needed. Not had any issues with breakages and all in all I’m very pleased. These are great value and I won’t hesitate to buy more of these when I need them.

There's nothing I dislike about these pencils; trying to be sensible, bought the Botanical set to try, thinking that I might order some more. I couldn't find a list of colours in the themed tins, so I contacted the seller by replying to the email they had sent (fabulous customer service). By return I got a list of all the colours in all of the themed sets. But in the end I just ordered the full set of 120.With regard to this set, the colours are excellent. When they arrived I was halfway through a drawing and a bit pushed for greens. This set includes Sap Green and Oxide of Chromium, with which I pretty much completed the drawing.They're lovely to use, lay down strong pigment smoothly, blend well and sharpen to a good point which holds well. They compare favourably to Polychromos, and in fact the set of 120 is in place of the larger Polychromos set I intended saving up for!Unfortunately they're not open stock, so I may have to replace them with Polychromos as they run out. Although given that a themed tin of 24 will cost the same as 5 Polychromos pencils, I may just end up reordering this one!

These pencils are really good. The colours are strong and coverage perfect. Granddaughter is delighted with them so I will buy more sets in future.

Great quality pencils. Lovely to use in soft, vivid colours. I like that the colour names are printed on each pencil, so you can find the correct colour each time and return to it. I would definitely buy these again.

I bought two tins of the themed colouring pencils, the sea one and the monet one. Completely different from each other or so I thought.. I was very disappointed to find that out of each tin of 24 pencils 10 pencils were identical! Not great! But on the positive side they are lovely pencils to use, very smooth and great colour.

La verdad es que yo siempre he sido muy Faber Castell forever. Compré este estuche de lápices para dibujar retratos por que pillé una oferta del Prime Day y decidí probarlos; además de por su precio porque Faber Castell no tiene una gama de colores específicas con tonos piel. Y después de probarlos comparando uno con el otro puedo decir:-Castle tiene mayor cremosidad y es más fácil de trabajar que los famosos polycromos.-Castle acepta un mayor número de capas a la hora de mezclar que los polycromos sin llegar a saturarse.-Castle tiene la mina perfectamente centrada lo que nos da una calidad que a la hora de sacar punta nos garantiza el que la mina salga perfectamente afilada y sin partirse. Aquí ambos están a la par.-Ambos pigmentan muchísimo, creo que los polycromos pigmentan algo más por la cosa de que he observado que manchan algo más y hay que ser más cuidadosos a la hora de trabajar. Aquí no hay un ganador creo ya que es cuestión de lo que nos propongamos hacer y el resultado deseado.-Lo único que he echado en falta en Castle a diferencia de los polycromos, es que los segundos disponen de unas estrellitas talladas en el lápiz que nos indica la resistencia a la luz del mismo. De todas formas si dispongo un día de tiempo intentaré hacer pruebas y añadirla a las fotos para que nos podamos beneficiar todos y saber cuál es la resistencia a la luz por lo menos de los colores de la caja que ya tengo.-Castle tiene un muy buen servicio postventa que se preocupa por saber si nos gustó el producto o no y son muy atentos. Creo que más adelante harán porque sepamos la resistencia a la luz de nuestros colores 😁La conclusión que he sacado de esto es que Castle es una marca que no conocía hasta hace muy poco y puede competir con lo mejor del mercado teniendo un precio bastante razonable. Sinceramente creo que me iré haciendo con más cajas según vaya evolucionando con mis dibujos e iré ampliando el material que ya tengo y complementando para conseguir los mejores resultados.El fanart que he añadido es una mera prueba por ver qué podía lograr con ellos; son todos los tonos piel de la cara, ojos, maquillaje de los mismos y el pelo...El resto son de la otra marca mentada anteriormente. En este dibujo buscaba ver el resultado final en tonos piel y por falta de tiempo no he podido dedicarle el tiempo que merece al dibujo para que "se luzca" más adelante y con más tiempo haré algo más realista para que os sirva mejor para guiaros en que podemos conseguir.A mí personalmente me encantan los colores escogidos para esta caja y no dudo en recomendarlos al 100%.

The hook to buy this product was the box of course and the inspiring palette. I thought it would be just enough to sample colors for my projects. The pencils are actually of very nice quality and I am using them very often in my sketchbooks. I love them now. Excellent idea of packaging, very good quality, I recommend those pencils to really Everyone.
